  1. It is, the side walls would wear each other away otherwise - its the same on the duel wheels or trucks. Also there is the crop row width element with tractors, they're spaced to run in the gaps. Great solution though, and takes away the torque on the centre axle
  2. Welcome @Severin Brunold, and in particular, welcome to our growing tractor moc sub-community!! I love this moc, its the subtle details in particular, like the 3-points.. nicely done. Would love see more of the internals. 4wd system etc.. but i'm a big fan! I'm the opposite - i use 3rd party tyres and wheels! but each to their own!
  3. Yep, thats a monster alright! the 764 is pretty though... and basically a quadtrac in disguise.. Anyway, everyone on here promises the truth will come out in 3 weeks!!! There'll penance to be paid if we're still in the dark!
  4. The new valve was produced for a reason... the old one wasn't great, but if they didn't have plans for it, why release a new one with an axle hole... not saying the hoped-for excavator will have it, but i wouldn't risk my foot on it not happening..
  5. Thats end of Jan though isn't it? 3 weeks... i can survive for 3 weeks!
  6. I do hope so... fingers are firmly crossed. There is something very enjoyable about building that type of model (BWE, rough terrain crain etc)... it feels like its technics natural home. A few months?!! That long!
  7. Deep in the dark miserable month of January... desperate for something 2H flagship related to brighten winter up!! I'm i the only one?!
  8. It does look good, makes the original look beefier, more like the real thing!
  9. Thats a good point, i'm pretty sure we were just throwing some ideas around rather than hi-jacking.. but you're right, must keep on topic. Looking forward to @Sjoemie himself 's 3-point, and the evolution of this moc. Design and re-design and see it evolve!
  10. @I_Igor i like your rear axle a lot.. very neat. Many tractors and cross pollinating of ideas! Brilliant!!
  11. Check out the 3 point i've added to my Axion and Xerion mocs using small LA.. fairly realistic geometry, but doesn't take up any internal space... 20190101_131458 by Team Thrifty, on Flickr 20180908_181534 by Team Thrifty, on Flickr
  12. I remember that transition when i came back to lego - sometimes even simple things were a brain frying challenge!! worth it though, studless is much better. (i still have a mental block with vertical gearboxes!!) Tractors are my drug of choice, i found the old studded chassis techniques were no use at all... i tried to build in a studded style with studless beams. nightmare. You have to forget what you used to do. different, unexpected things work!!
  13. ..or buy 50 off ebay for very little money. Thats what i did. Surely its easier than messing around with shrink tubing and elastic bands?! They cost me about £5... push the boat out!! Correction, they were 4.50 Eur off bricklink.. even less money than i thought
  14. Technical and difficult aren't the same thing in this context.. all sets come with instructions, so by and large aren't difficult to build, but that doesn't mean they're not technical. I totally agree that building your own moc, is the most difficult discipline (providing its something tricky you're trying to build), but equally it could be less technical than an easy to build set, its just difficult because you have no instructions.. just a thunk! didn't know that was a 'thing' If its hopelessly banana'd i'll discard, but other than that i never check... maybe i should start!
  15. You're correct, i need to do one... its just laziness stopping me! I'll do one this weekend, but it will only be a mobile phone one... no fancy editing or anything!!
  16. There's a different recent thread about the most technical technic sets... I think GBC stuff is a serious contender. There's some pure, complex mechanical engineering in a lot of these modules. Brilliant to watch as well! (and i say this as someone who's never built any GBC modules, so totally neutral!!)
  17. Thanks I think the rear 3/4 view looks the best.. phone camera's aren't the best. At least not in my hands!
  18. too wide for that.. think they're about 65mm. i'd use duel xerion tyres on the front i think, though not checked the scale for them
  19. Nope. I had 1 possible missing pin, but not confirmed as could be under a rug.. other than that, it was complete. (in the interest of balance.. not disputing anyone else's experience)
  20. Since looking at those tyres, i think i need 4 and then this becomes an option...
  21. Do you mean the linear actuators or engine pistons? If its the LA's, i think there's scope for a couple extra sizes, one between the current 2 for sure.. the size difference from small to big is a big step.
  22. Its to scale... 130mm tyres vs 2.15m gives 16.5:1 scale and the wheelbase/height/length/width are all to scale. I love bigger, believe me! But won't be to scale.. I love the idea of the same moc and tyres built by someone else though, hoping there's some great ideas to borrow from you!!
  23. Ha! Really? Now thats weird... i was born in Otley... Small world.
