Like others have said, its a lovely looking build, but really odd that its come with no fixed make and model. All the other créateur expert cars have been identified as something specific. Looks like it might have been based on something real, but the licence fell through, or the company involved felt it wasn’t quite good enough to put their name on it. I’ve not purchased any of the other expert cars, although the missus bought me Ecto 1 for Christmas. I would like the DB5 and Mustang but i know if I bought them, id end up wanting the whole collection, and I can’t afford that and Modulars and fairground ranges too.

7 improvements for the new creator castle
jus1973 replied to Captain Braunsfeld's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
Is it not possible to hang the door on the outside, and have it swinging outwards too. Not quite as clean, but more in keeping. Having built this IRL now, I appreciate that some parts usage is down to the need to be 3 in 1 i think. The tree is a prime example, as a better tree can be made with other brick choices. I would have preferred it if TLG ditched the Dragon/Wyvern and put those bricks into a higher tower, or central courtyard instead. That’s something I’m loooking to do in my MOD, along with adding a couple of generic wall sections, which hopefully could be added to make the castle deeper, or possibly L shaped if i can get it to work right. An armoury is needed inside on one of these walls, and I’m thinking about what to put on the other. -
With the two vertical plates at either side, you can build curtains quite easily using any number of plates and tiles. Should be fairly simple, using these kind of plates. https://www.bricklink.com/catalogList.asp?catID=583

Lego City 2021 Rumours, information and discussion
jus1973 replied to Powered by Bricks's topic in LEGO Town
Not sure when that was released, but it probably reflected the notion that there was a fair bit of violence at football matches in the 80s and 90s. -
I saw that too, and got excited for a fairground release, and then realised it said Star Wars in the box. Whilst I have the UCS MF, the rest of the range is not of interest to me really.

Part of me hopes for kits for specific models, but I think these will be poor sellers when compared to a generic lighting kit, and possibly more expensive to set up, with different boxes, instruction printing etc. Maybe it’ll be generic kits, and then digital instructions using probably more than one kit for each of the big builds, like Modulars or Fairground. I do wonder if there will have to be special plates, with metal embedded, like we had in the dim and distant past too.

I, for one, would welcome a slightly lower priced Fairground set, maybe along the lines of the Fairground Mixer set, which I completely missed out on. I feel the fairground needs some smaller stalls and amusements to populate the spaces between the big four rides. I’ve dropped the UFO carousel in, and have the pirate coaster to somehow fit in too, but its lacking closeness, so perhaps we’ll get these this year, which will no doubt disappoint some.

An epic build with some amazing details. Congrats on capturing the high school style in every possible way. Superb.

That’s fantastic, and certainly complements the garden, which I picked up to go next to my Palace Cinema. Might be looking to build something inspired by your excellent efforts here, now that I’ve seen this.

10283 NASA Space Shuttle Discovery Discussion
jus1973 replied to Vilhelm22's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Moving this thread along a bit, are there any MODs that owners have made to improve the shuttle. I am still building it, and am tempted to not place the ‘Discovery’ name stickers at an angle, as the originals are parallel to the fuselage. I’m also looking if the small gaps in the wings underneath can be filled using a black cheese wedge somehow, like the upper surface is. I’m also going to look at getting other payloads if i can find out more about what Discovery carried.- 310 replies

Blast from the past this. I had one, as well as the base, and the baddies ship too. As i recall, the grey fins at the rear separated and became little fighter ships. You’ve done a brilliant job of getting this brick built.

I wasn’t aware it was a Lego Exclusive. I purchased mine in Manor (A Swiss chain of department stores like John Lewis in the UK), and have seen it in a couple of other places here in the UK too? Perhaps its not a Lego Exclusive in all countries? Is this common?

Thanks for the advice. I didn’t think brick link went back that far. Looking at most, they’re not worth much, so the parts will enter the brick bins for regular building.

Hi all, As per the title, is there any value in vintage lego. I’ve acquired a few old sets, some with 3 digit numbers, and some that don’t appear to have numbers on the instructions, but I’m not sure what to do with them. If there’s value in them, (just bricks and instructions) then I’ll sort, build and maybe consider selling on. If not, then the bricks can join my collection. Any thoughts or ideas?

That sounds like a good second option. I’ll have to hunt that group down.- 310 replies

I too am so totally annoyed at the outcome of this. Feel like there must have been only a few hundred of these sets, and most of them appear to have been had by scalpers for future eBay sales. Grrrrr. I thought the VIP system mean this reduced this problem. Apparently not.- 310 replies

To people who own Lego cities: don't make the same mistake as I did...
jus1973 replied to The Lego Room's topic in LEGO Town
They are a little shy of being a perfect fit, yes, I’ve got two 60cm wide ones, side by side, and have left a gap at the edge, but you can get different sized tops, some of which are 75cm wide, which will almost fit 3 base plates exactly. -

I feel your pain on this one. I had 2 different units for my original ‘street’ and ended up using lego manuals, flattened boxes and all sorts to get it level, Now I use the Ikea Linnmon table tops, with Adils legs. These work out at between £16 and £25 depending on the length you go for. These have adjustable feet on the end of the legs which is a massive help with this issue. They’re also quite light and easy to move. Once in their permanent place, you can also use cheap straight mending plates to strap them together on the underside. -
Spot the difference, another Lego Ideas set gets raided
jus1973 replied to Tube Map Central's topic in LEGO Train Tech
It really does put me off submitting to ideas. They’ll make a fortune with excellent models from ideas, with practically no work themselves. I think TLG should have an automatic copyrighting on behalf of the submitting persons, and actively chase down the cloners with a cease and desist notice. Certainly for anything that reaches a particular milestone. If they don’t the top builders will stop using the Ideas platform, for fear of this kind of cheap copying.- 15 replies

If you built the Diner in the mirror version, then the ad would be visible too, and offer a flatter side for whatever is next to it on your layout. Just an option?

Finally got my police station on the 20th. It spent a total of 14 days with dpd. At least it all arrived in good order.

This is fab. Really liking the mix of official Modulars, some extra floors, and your own builds. Particularly like the palace cinema rework in the deco style. That’s inspired, and so like a number of cinemas I’ve been to in the US. I’m just starting a garage conversion to build my own town. I can only hope its half as good as this.

Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion
jus1973 replied to The Jersey Brick Guy's topic in LEGO Town
Since we’ve had Fire & Police, I think we’re due a hospital. Maybe as part of the anniversary set? I think a post office is well overdue too. That might only need a half a full 32x32 base, so perhaps another house like the bookshop. I would love to see a couple of shops, with apartments over, maybe a hardware store and a sporting goods store. Whilst I would love to have a train station, and there are some great MOCs out there, it would simply need to be too big to work. -
UK TLG customer service accessible?
jus1973 replied to Fuppylodders's topic in General LEGO Discussion
It’s unlikely, but the Covid lockdown in place is probably the major couse of disruption here in the UK. I don’t think a call centre worker for a toy company counts as a key worker.
