That’s why I was looking at buying more straights than I needed and cutting them. Not entirely sure that’s a good idea though.
-
This will be hitting my collection, as long as it maintains its scale and design. Was beginning to wonder if we’d see it this year. Glad to see its not been shelved.
-
These are just fantastic. Will head over to idea to support. Simply brilliant. I think they’ll sell well too, should they be successful.
-
Thanks for the image upload, it confirms my thoughts. Totally agree with the first point. Actually make the example you gave looked finished more than the actual sold product. The corner buildings pose an interesting issue though. Might have to cut (eek) the road plates, to make it work easily, to maintain the modular approach. The town will need to expand and adapt as each new modular is added. Its certainly cheaper than the Moduverse, idea, which I love, but I’m on a tight budget.
-
I’m looking at placing all my modulars into a town style layout, with some of the fairground rides at one end and I am limited by space. I’ve seen lots of this sort of thing done, bet almost all seem to leave the modulars on their own base plates, and just butt the road plates up, using the studded area for more footpath/sidewalk, or street side parking. has anyone built them onto the actual road plates before, and does it look ok?
-
Exactly. It annoys me too that half of city cars and vans don’t have doors too.
-
Fairly new to the world of Lego trains, just adding them to my inventory for a town build based around modulars and fairground, plus some city bits. Does it not bother anyone, that no locomotive, nor carriage, appears to have doors anymore. Maybe it’s a cost thing, maybe an aesthetic thing, but I really wish they were included. Anyone else agree?

I’ve been tinkering with a Miami Art Deco district hotel for the last 6 months or so, but stumbled over colour, as almost all are just white. This however, invokes so much of that district, without looking like a white slab, with rounded corners. I think it’s stunning, and wish my vison and work could match this.

[MOC] Food Stand Diners (One for the Rollercoaster fans)

Likewise, quite gutted not to be able to buy this as an ideas set. Would love to see a digital designer file, or pdf of instructions.- 45 replies

I think a few photos here, to highlight your current design might help us all see possible solutions.

I agree, since there is a lot of extra fairground style stuff, I think we might be looking at a skip year. Probably just as well, as I don’t think my bank balance can handle the treehouse (when the final model is released) and a fairground plus the other lower priced sets I want for my city scape.

I do wonder how many of these set number and part count predictions we get right. Tbh, I never really worry too much about that. More on the actual model when it’s got its press release. With the rollercoaster being such a large set, in part count and actual size, I do wonder if we’ll get a smaller, fairground mixer sort of model this year. In which case 10266, or maybe 10269, from the d2c list in this thread are incorrectly labelled. The creator expert car ended up being the mustang with 10265.

I’m sure we’ll get a new ride or set in this theme soon. It appears that previous years shedules of release dates has not proved a reliable estimation of this years dates.

Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion
jus1973 replied to The Jersey Brick Guy's topic in LEGO Town
That does seem more logical, but I wonder if the boxing gym would fit. Perhaps one to try to MOD, although the noisy recording studio/radio station might not make for a quiet recovery for all the sick fluffy bunnies. -
If this is true then perhaps we’d be looking at a fun house type of thing. You know, tilting floors and revolving rooms, that sort of ride. I’m sure it can be done but I’m not sure it really fits with the rest of the line so far.

The small black piece into which the yellow double ended part fits should be made of rubber, and is extremely flexible. If its hard plastic you’ve got the wrong part.
-
Let me know how you get on with this. When I get round to rebuilding all my modulars and GBHQ, I want to try to get it to fit, and with the swinging open, it really doesn’t work. I was trying to see if I could build the floors more like the way modulars are, but using the same bricks as I have very few spares of the right colour. I’d just leave the fireman’s pole section as one tall piece.

Just a wee heads up to Lego fans in Switzerland. COOP are clearing out over stocked and old stuff. I think it’s fairly random depending on the store, Picked up the technic bucket wheel excavator for chf 80, nexo knights 70323, for chf 40, and 70317 for chf 30. That’s £63, £35 and £24 respectively. Boxes are tatty Even for parts that’s silly money, no.
-
Isn’t that more realistically going to be the Ford Mustang creator expert model? Part count is a little high I suppose but it might be lots of smaller parts to get the right shape. The VW bus is 1300 ish, Beetle is 1170 and Aston Martin is 1300, so in the ball park.

[Review] 10254 Winter Holiday Train (with Power Functions)
jus1973 replied to Dragonator's topic in LEGO Town
Remember to leave as much slack in the gearing system as possible. Check this at each stage of the build and you should find the motor more than capable of pulling the entire train and then some.- 39 replies

Exactly. Why don’t we, for once, congratulate the designer for building an authentic industrial northern USA style building, with some nice gags, and an interestingly shaped facade. No doubt some changes that some of us would like were written off due to piece count issues, or other factors that the designer had no say over. The more I look at it, the more I want it, despite the price, which did make me gulp a little.

Not exactly what I was expecting, but I think it’s a nice addition to the range in all. I can certainly see it between the DO and AS. I can also see one or two areas to mod slightly to improve the look, although I never do this in practice. They’re displayed as originals. Price bump is gonna hurt though. Over here modulars will have gone up quite quickly. PR, BB, DO, PC all came in at chf170, DD was chf199, and this is listed at chf229. Effectively a chf50 bump over two years. Ouch. Looking at exchange rates we’re being stung. Roughly chf100 =100 usd.

Oddly enough I’d still probably buy that.
