  1. Agree. But I also think that we are way overdue for a much better developed wheel...
  2. You know... If Lego would have at least developed some cool new wheels for this car, I would give them a pass for the design... If they did in fact change the entire car to match some recent vehicle to make it more realistic, then why not use a wheel style that was also realistic..? This flipping of the wheels to show the inside on one model and the outside of another is getting stale...
  3. That Octan F1 car is awesome... I had just seen that on Brickshelf today...
  4. Like I said in the other thread, what puzzles me the most is why would Lego make a poster out of a model that was never meant to be..? This was cropped out of the recent Technic Designer video... My wife and I were picking differences apart last night between the 2 models and I came to the conclusion that this entire model was a separate model from that other one... Not modified or altered, but a complete rebuild... Hopefully when this comes out, it will have updated slightly redesigned hubs that are not the wobbly sloppy mess that the ones from the 42000 were... But I doubt that will happen...
  5. LT1 That was a Corvette/Camaro/Trans Am 350ci engine back in the 90's...
  6. I think Lego's logic behind the redesign of that part is that they expect people to press down on them to see the suspension work... I wonder if the original part ever made it past the 3D printed stage... I suppose this 42039 model is a prime example of why Lego doesn't want it's early pictures getting leaked out...
  7. That is what I thought as well, which makes sense...
  8. I am wondering since this has suspension if there was an issue with the original more curved pieces above the wheel not holding up if a person pushed down on them, these new parts look like they would be stronger... What really kills this for me is the area around the cockpit that was redesigned... The wheel wells look a little too square now and I liked the orginal look in the prototype with the headlights...
  9. Makes you wonder why they would make a poster of one model, but release a completely different one...
  10. To my knowledge, this part hasn't existed in green before... Isn't it something how they'll make a part in a new color, but won't bring an existing color back..? For example the front of the 42029 should have had #3 connectors in red in it instead of LBG...
  11. No rocket car..? Or wasn't that pic available..? I do not like the way this flows at all... The prototype looked so good... I wonder why..? Lego clearanced out the 8041 for $34.99 USD... Great set for parts...
  12. What is up in that video with the 42041..? Are they bringing the Race Truck back again..? This set looked so good from the prelim pics and has completely changed 180 degress...
  13. So then these designers don't have leather finger tips like me then..? Interesting...
  14. I am assuming this modular project was something I had on display at Brickfair back in 2010... I had pictures posted on Brickshlef, but deleted them for better ones and never got them uploaded.. I have since lost them due to a computer crash... Someone actually replicated the chassis and modules and made a youtube video of it.. When they edited it, they got the gearing backwards in the text...
  15. Sure looks like it... It makes sense to use the steering arms on all 4 wheels with the steerng hubs on all 4.. Just got to be a little more advanced with the rear build to stabilize the hubs and leep them in place...
  16. Looks like it's using the DBG steering arms in the rear...
  17. And in all honesty, if this thread is important enough to still exist, shouldn't it be in the General forum..? It's not like Technic is the only theme that people try to reverse engineer... I've seen many threads similar to this in the past that were created in the Technic forum that got moved elsewhere because even though the creator was looking for answers from his Technic brothers, mods felt that the thread may also appeal to more than just Technic people... I would be interested in seeing what system builders think about this subject...
  18. I never meant it to come off as you made this thread, I know that you didn't, sorry if it came off that way... I was mainly referring to whomever created it in the first place... I just don't think that Yes or No thread about building is something that should exist... I could see if it involved something questionable or morally wrong... Why was a thread made to basically target one guy and try and see how many people want to slap him in the face..? There are a HUGE group of people out there now that think that Technic in general is pointless and don't accept it as legitimate building...
  19. It's not like anyone is getting these models 100% correct anyways.. They are only building what can already be seen and then guessing the rest of the way.... So it's more like "undressing" a woman and finding something you were not expecting... I just think that anyone should be allowed to build anything that they want without anyone else telling them that they shouldn't and making a thread about it... It's bad enough that Technic is only being used by a small minority of people now, so who am I or anyone else to say "What you are building is pointless"...? There are certain build techniques that people use that I don't necessarily agree with, but I would never publicly say "You shouldn't build like that"... Who am I to tell people what they should or shouldn't build with parts that they bought with their own money..?
  20. To be fair, only a couple people disagreed with him and went toe to toe.. Mostly everyone else just gave their opinions... If people want to attempt to reverse engineer a model, I say more power to them if that is their preference... dokludi has acquired a bit of forum fame by building some very close replicas in the past and some people find interest in his early representations of them... I don't even bother to build any sets when they do come out, but I am not going to tell anyone else how they should be building or what they should or shouldn't be doing... To be honest, I don't know why this stupid thread was made in the first place...
  21. My biggest gripe with the appearance of these wheels is the same one with the factory wheels that came on my Camaro back in 1996... They are not symetrical and are not directional so whenever they are placed on the Driver's side the pattern flows one way and on the Passenger side it flows the opposite way...
  22. I would like to see Lego make a new wheel of that size that was properly designed.... Maybe just in a simple 5 spoke or something... That vegetable slicer design just doesn't appeal to me... Was hoping the 42039 would have had some new wheels to work with, but it looks like that isn't happening...
  23. I think it's pretty cool that people like to challenge themselves by reverse engineering models... TechnicBRICKs even has a yearly competition for doing it...
