  1. By mounting it vertical it opened up a new way to use a linkage system that seems to me to be more practical...
  2. Here is an early prototype concept from Nathanaël for a new supercar... The gearbox placement is vertical behind the mid mounted engine, which is pretty unique and it works off of a slick linkage system... This will defintiely be progress to keep an eye on... More information HERE
  3. Really great looking cart...!
  4. No way! Lego made silver panels and silver tubing??? I had no idea... In all seriosuness though, I am trying to evolve as a builder with what is current, not parts that I worked with 10 years ago... I think you were fully aware of what I meant when I said "you can't work with what you haven't got" Every new model that I build brings something new to the table than the previous one... If you fail to recognize this or don't find it interesting, then that is your choice... I am sure that there may be some other people out there who have built my models that don't share your opinion... http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=35456 My preference is to move forward, not backwards...
  5. I don't think red is "becoming" the new yellow.... Red has always been the most popular color for cars considering every part and panel is made in red.. The red color and part variety goes clear back to 1999 with the 8448.. I recently did one car in all white which was pretty challenging to do.. How many people have done Technic cars of that scale in all white..? If it was so commonly done, there should be many examples... As far as these other colors like silver goes, you can't work with what you haven't got...
  6. Correction, there are 8 of them.. I forgot the 2 that give the angle in the front grill...
  7. One of the points of the "gaps" in Technic is to see what is going on inside and witness the mechanics moving within... I still think one of the nicest cars ever done was the 8145 599 GTB and it had gaps out the yin-yang... I also purposely left the roof open in this so that it was easy to get to the shifter... I had received complaints in the past that it was too hard to shift the gears in a few of my cars because of the roof... I made this model to really be played with...
  8. I don't even want to get into the horror stories that I have dealt with on Ebay... I send out a disclaimer message that the buyer must reply back to in order for me to send the download information...If I don't hear back within 3 days of sending 1/2 a dozen messages, I just refund them for a "purchase error"... I had a woman from Virginia threaten to slander me accross the internet and take me to court if I didn't send her 10 year son a Vampire GT kit(yes a whole kit) for $12... If you ever read the description on one of my listings, you would have to seriosuly have something wrong with you to think you are getting a 2,000 piece set for a couple bucks... But I can see how it happens.. "Mommy, buy me this car, it's only $12!" Mom says to herself, "Yeah, it's only $12, why not?" Without ever reading the description... By the way, great model Fernando...
  9. I would rather a Technic model look like it is supposed to be "Technic" and not filled in with random parts... I wanted to make a model that was "Lego-Like" in both appearance and in it's functions.. Getting these flex axles to do what they are doing on this model was a real challenge in itself... If you preference is models that are filled in, then that is your choice, but redesigning this model to appease your liking isn't at the top of my priority list...
  10. This is the car that I based my model off of... If anything the roof on mine is too high because this one has what is known as a "Chop Top" One of my goals was to keep this model light-weight but recognizable because I am doing a motorized alternate that I am hoping to get some decent performance out of... Only 6.. The roof and rear end are #4...
  11. You have to make 10 actual posts in threads, not post the word post ten times... LOL...
  12. Just came across these on Ebay... Nice looking models...
  13. My original mirrors were fixed, but I wanted something smoother and cooler looking.. It does suck that they can pivot, but I'll take that along with the nicer look...
  14. There must be pretty cool people that run the Brickcon show since they let you use those tires on your model to be displayed... The last AFOL show that I did, I had someone giving me crap over the chrome wheels on my models not being Lego...
  15. I doubt it.. I think they just threw random stickers on that prelim version.. Plus it wasn't supposed to be viewed by the public... You can already order those 3 x 11 black panels from Lego.. they were in the Batman UCS Tumbler... Part # 6080356
  16. I have around 100 of those hubs and for some reason some of them have more friction than other ones, and they came right from Lego....
  17. It looks like it is in front of it...
  18. LOL.. My post was about a different knock off Ferrari set than the one that you posted... I've actually found "Fake" Technic sets that were not based off of any actual Technic set... Those people must have their own team of Designers now...
  19. They could very well be fake that could have come from one of these many knock offs... Knock Off Ferrari Set
  20. I doubt they would have bothered to include a chain on it if it was not going to move something... Plus you can see a tan bevel gear on the rear axle, so the drive shaft must be going to move something... I don't think Lego would include a cylinder block in one of their Technic models just for show...
  21. When it was the 8041, you could get it pretty much everywhere here in the US... I know I ordered a bunch of them from Toys R Us when they were running buy 2 get one free... After a few years of that set's release, Lego was selling them for $34.99 and it took a few days for them to sell out.... It's not a bad set, but it doesn't do much other than steer and work the V8 engine... It's a good parts set... The re-release of this set doesn't make much sense to me unless Lego had a ton of parts for that set used that they needed to move... On an unrelated note, I can only assume that Lego is still sitting on a large quantity of #3 LBG connectors seeing as how yellow ones would have looked better in this model, much like red ones would have done a better job in the front of the 42029...
  22. That is a very nice looking model you built..!
  23. Yeah.. They started that crap 10 years ago with the 8386 set... I think the 42000 set required doing this as well... They do the best they can to make these sets "Child Friendly" so that they are easy to build, but then make kids add stcikers in places where it is almost impossible to get them straight... Personally, I cannot stand stickers, especially ones on the body that enhance the model to make it look pretty... Stickers in my opinion are nothing more than a cheap way to try and spruce up a model to help sell it... Then if you want to build the B-model, you have all of these oddball stickers facing in directions that make no sense...
  24. That is pretty wild..! I really like it..!
