Thanks for the review and taking the time to make it... Personally I would not waste 2 building hours plus editing, rendering etc for such bad and ugly model About the B-Model: It happens when 1.The set does not come with enough variety of pieces 2.The main model is unfinished 3.The set has an ulgy color combination. I remember some interviews where the designers said they build the main model thinking to make a proper B Model, but seems like It is not the case - It comfirms the 0.6Kgs of unused parts -. Talking about unused parts, most of them are big or long pieces - beams, liftarms, gear racks etc. - so the use of them is limited .... Simply the problem is: This set does not have enough versatile pieces! Just compare the inventory with the 42069´s. Definetly is very strange to see how the quality of all 2017 models is so uneven and how the flagship is not on pair with other flagships ...... I am sill wondering how TLG aproved this model as the flagship of the 40th Technic Anniversary(!). The 40th Anniversary is something we should take in mind if we are going to judge the sets of this year. Ok, Lego is a toy and the main audience are kids, BUT if you are commemorating the 40th Anniver. Means you also are thinking in AFOLs, people who growed up with and collected a 8480, 8880, 8455, 8043, 8110.... So if you want to give some respect for the long-term fans, AFOLs, then, create and release something spectacular! And for the kids ,even a second hand 8043 is so much better in terms of playability Oh well, atleast the 2H 2016 are still on sale

@r12ax7 42053 suits perfectly for your kid. I feel the helicopter a bit big for him and the playability is limited . About 42053: Though the bucket is similar to 42043, you could mod the attachment and make proper excavator. You may need another big/long pneumatic cylinder

Technic 2017 Set Discussion
Jonfensu replied to CM4Sci's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Speed builds of 42070 and 42069 brought by AustrianLegoFan 42069 42070 IMHO only the first stage (Gearbox) of 40270 seems interesting and enjoyable. The rest seems so simple and unfinished indeed The 42069 has interesting building techniques (especially in both axles and doors mechanism) Indeed the final result is satisfactory, with many attention to the details. It does not feel like the set was rushed PD. Could somebody please tell me how embedd videos in my posts? -
[REVIEW] 42069 - Extreme Adventure
Jonfensu replied to Jim's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Thanks for the clear explanation, now everything seems logic . So, - with wheel hubs - I could not imagine driving forward and the bogies "turning" on the opposite direction - while it steps over an obstacle -... ...Poor axles But I do not have the Porsche ... Seems like the fun is not going to be with me... -
[REVIEW] 42069 - Extreme Adventure
Jonfensu replied to Jim's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Thanks Again @Jim Outstanding review, pictures... I really enjoyed it Amazing set. Really like every detail (Jerrycams, extra threads, .......... even the seats are "SEATS", not those curved panels in blue ). Also the doors mechanism is very clever using shock absorbers (I may use that technique on a current project). The live axles are very interesting as well. On the "Highlighted parts" I would include (27940) - Axle and Pin Connector Hub with 2 Axles. It is the first set to have more than 3 in the inventory (11). Even the "flapship" does not have any one. To be veryvery nitpickng with this set, I would have liked a gearbox for functions. I mean, It is quiet strange to see the 42068 having one while the 42069 is a superior set, does not. But anyway it will not affect my opinion on the set and definetly, I will try to buy one on the future, maybe after Class , but just because it is older.. ...well who knows what I will get first Just I can say is ... Thank you @grohl for thinking in us: AFOLs. The way in how is built, the techniques, the possibility of MOD, and pieces - as Jim pointed in the review - show you clearly thinks in us as you were doing lately (I guess many of us still do not forget the resurrection of the 19L Black Soft axle ) ------- I have one question about the axles. Why small turntables instead wheel hubs (11950c01) for each track? To avoid backlash and improve stability - I mean, Is there a real diference - ? PD. I am missing a picture with Porsche Rims and Wheels - Even If it requires replacing the turntables with wheel hubs - -
Thanks again Jim for that outstanding review and pictures (Also for the close up of the gearbox ) About unfinished look, plain build experience and not-proper-working out the box is something that, lately and sadly, I have seen on latest Uwe´s models (Details on spolier to stay ON TOPIC) So To being honest, when I see it was designed by him, I did not expect something revolutionary. Something that a Flagship needs, but the 42070 does not have Interesting theory. Maybe the Instructions Area on TLG have to polish there the bulding instructions in terms of color background, contrast etc....,Well at least the BI are better than before in those aspects. But It is curious how the 42069 does not have a crazy color coding in the build while its a bit more complex in some parts than 42070 (For example the Front and rear Axles). The Color coding indeed could be useful in a moderated way, but it is overused on 42070 and it could be confusing and frustating at some point For example finding and putting a part on a specific color when there is the same in other color, (and simliar situations)

Thanks again for the review and effort to release all the reviews in such time Indeed the steering mechanism is pretty ingenious and different from the "obvious" way (Gear racks) Definetly a linkage for steering has many advantages: Smooth, less backlash and easy to build without extra alignement as you must do with gear racks (In few words, It is non expert proof)... and of course, on the building experience view, we can make use of this for MOCs. Such models are the ones I really appreciate: When they give you some cool ideas About the set, beside steering mechansim, sadly is not interesting in terms of functions, playability and parts; there are better alternatives in the same price range as the 42053. Also the boom looks crude , maybe due scale.. I dont know but kinda reminds me to the crane of 42038. The model looks realistic, indeed, but - To me - feels like that a fire truck do not work as a Technic model (Like they are incomplete) - Look at the 8289 Fire Truck - and there is two reason: Functions are only for controlling the boom and It is missing water functions, .... (Power Functions.... Water Functions Hmmm, Hope TLG is taken note )

Lego Technic 42067
Jonfensu replied to Chase Rosipayla's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Really? Just wasted 5min of my life watching the video - yeah, I Skipped some parts of video - -
Thanks Pawel, Amazing review and set! Another model by Milan that don't disappoint. It's basically a model build by an AFOL for AFOLs Definitely those are the big sets we are looking for: Great looks, great and interesting functions, great building experience and use of pieces, and an inventory with a lot unique and useful pieces (something like 42043, 42054, 8110 and so.) Also, It's a nice addition to the Off-road vehicles like 8466 and 8297 Few questions Are you going to build the B Model when instructions will be available? Do you see enough space or the possibility to place a basic 4 speed gearbox l?

Technic 2017 Set Discussion
Jonfensu replied to CM4Sci's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Thanks @Sariel for the review. Really enjoyed it. Also liked how you covered very well the playability part/experience. Just I missed some details about the building experience , especially the gearbox and the way how the designer(s) implemented the functions with 2 motors, but I am sure @Jim will do it Definetly the most weakest "flapship" of the Technic line: I can not see a reason to get it, starting with the price -

Congrats Lucio for another amazing model and instructions If I am not mistaken, @Jimpromised a Pro tag after you finished your last MOC Anyway TO ME you deserve it, let's wait to moderator's verdict -
You could see the fire truck as a good set for parts/price , but I am not sure because currently there are better options: The 42064 has a lot more pieces - including panels - and its cheaper. The 42053 has more useful pieces - incluiding penumatic pieces - and also it is cheaper (Also as a model It is more authentic and has better playability) Talking about 42069, there was some info/rumors about adjustable height - like 8297 - Too bad that this function is not present, (no info in the official website, the promotional video, and the yellow axles that go under seats are part of the butterfly doors)... Hmm . Anyway could be interesting to implement this function, connecting the doors mechanism (yellow axles under seats) with an mechanism similar to the one on 8297. Something like: Open the doors - the chassis go down

Technic 2017 Set Discussion
Jonfensu replied to CM4Sci's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Maybe it will not have a differential, just a simple drivetrain as 42049 and 42050. Keep in mind that the last sets with a Diff. under 100USD were 42037 and 42039 (The Porsche was the only to have one on the 2016 wave). I know... It is so dissaponinting that TLG has been removing the differential on mid range sets -
