Thanks again, everyone!

Thanks, everyone! Looking forward to seeing that! Why's that? Yes, it's from the Winter Village Cottage.

Hi everyone, some time ago I was looking through the BrickLink color list to see if there are affordable parts in some nice, rare but useful color - and found the Scala wall panels in light salmon. Well, when ordering them, I assumed they looked just like any normal plate at the bottom, but it became more complicated (see last picture) - anyway, here's the result: » Flickr album And yes, there's some reference to the , the misheard lyrics version of Nightwish's "Wishmaster"...Simple backside: The Master is throwing a fish to the customer who wants to be able to truthfully tell at home that he caught the fish himself. (Yeah, an old joke, but it lent itself to its use here...) Amusing the Apprentice and another customer: Upstairs, we have the Fishmaster's apartment, with daughter and grandson visiting - incorporating this year's little Easter set: And antlers like those in the Haunted House: Next floor: sleeping room and bathroom: In the attic, there are just a few of the mandatory old toys: And here's a look at those strange Scala panels: » Flickr album Hope you like it!

Thanks again! But no, I'm not going to "cheat" with third-party/knock-off parts here (or, for that matter, use non-Lego double-sided plates or studless bricks in buildings, as useful though they might be). Kinda a point of honor. :)

No video yet, there's too much work in progress. But I guess I can make one when I built the planned house the monorail will drive through...
-
Thanks again! A thin blue line under the doors? Hmm, I didn't consider that... I only thought about continuing the complete thick line (it might be possible to change the door hinges accordingly), but then preferred the interrupted look (so it's easier for the passengers to see where the doors are).

Thanks everyone! I didn't notice any serious stability problems (though admittedly the walls at the gaps touch each other in curves). And no problems from the little extra weight. Did Lego ever specify what's officially legal with the monorails? The white space train had some stuff on the sides making it 6-wide there, too... And as far as I remember, Jesse Ventura never showed expertise in Lego. :)

Hello everyone, a little vintage-style train for the monorail part of my layout: Unfortunately, the motor in the middle is about half a plate to tall, so the parts don't line up properly, and there's not enough space to work around this with these roof slopes... A look inside: And a siding track for cleaning and maintenance - above normal tracks (which are just lying there for now, I haven't built ballast and surroundings yet...): A worker informs his superiors about a missing railing - which is of course missing because I must be able to reach the knob. :) I didn't want to put the platform behind the monorail tracks because of the position of the train track and the posts. » Flickr album Hope you like it...

I'm tempted to say I'm too complex and complicated to be a single brick, but as far as this quiz goes, I'm apparently a 2x4 brick...

The roof sits lower - between the dark orange slopes, on light gray tiles. Check the image that shows the inside open from the back.

According to BrickLink, the former is the version with "Completely Open Stud" (made from 1984-2012), the latter with "Hollow Stud" (since 2006). BL Inventory says both were used in 10182.

what do you call your lego city/ names for lego city?
cimddwc replied to legoguy1984's topic in LEGO Town
To avoid the "brick" cliché TrentonC mentioned, the name I finally decided to use for my city, "Port Birch", is kinda based on the name of the street I'm living in now. Though I did think about a combination with the German word "Stein" = brick - since that also means rock/stone, there are quite a few actual towns with "Stein" in their name... -
Thanks again! No, these plates are just a cheap way (which I was hoping to be rather inconspicuous) to hide the cheap (multi-colored) structure underneath. (Most of my city is raised by about 4 rows; some more, some less, sometimes used for more than just stairs downwards...)

Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion
cimddwc replied to The Jersey Brick Guy's topic in LEGO Town
Sounds nice, yes, but I don't think the next building will be Art Deco - but rather use the new corbel bricks we'll get in the Friends hotel (gold) and kiosk (tan) this summer. And maybe even the fancy fence from Elves. At any rate, this timing of architectural design elements sounds more plausible to me... -
I don't think the City trains are gone for good. More likely they mean "currently not available, we don't have a date when they will be back, and someone clicked the wrong button"...
-
Given how common engines with that color scheme and shape - full-size body and two cabs - are and have been for decades especially here in Germany, I'm not surprised to see this one here. :) I'm just wondering if there's actually a real-world engine with this shape that also has these side railings (and I like that it holds a minifigure). I don't think I've ever seen one like that. Anyway, looks kinda nice and what one could have expected from a City set. Doesn't mean AFOLs like me without kids need it...

Well done! Nice interior and great roof windows! For a direct comparison, here's my original Trikes Store: Chima Trikes Store front1 by cimddwc, on Flickr

Really a great building and a great garden! And I agree with Kristel on the spikes. :)
-
Thanks for the link/pic. Hmm, looks nice... but not really a good way to add doors. Are you expected to fold the entire side up? Not very realistic... (but the young target audience may like it anyway )
-
Certainly a nice station with the big windows for the main hall and some nice details. I just don't understand the platforms... When I'm told to go to platform 2 for my train, and there are trains on either side of it, then which is my train? And the platform directly at the building neither has a number nor seats. Also, they are a bit short - I'd remove the middle one and use it to make the others longer.
-
Yes, really a great building and scenery with nice details!

They came up with a 1x4x2 panel in a few sets last year. Well, I've never been into Scooby Doo much, and the two sets we have pictures of so far don't look like I could use them in my city - but I'm still curious about the others, and the minifigures do look nice, so I think I still might get a set or two...

Oh, they'd still find a lot - and the correct thing, too - since "Nuremberg" is simply the English name of Nürnberg. Like "Munich" is for München, for instance.
