  1. Thanks! It's 12V without the power rail (isn't that the only difference to 4.5V?). Anyway, I have only those new rails that came with the 7938 set and they aren't enough for a full straight track, so I had to use the old rails. However, compatibility ends somewhat when you try to connect old and new rails due to the half-stud-long connectors of the new rails... then again, the wheels can run across that gap quite fine. Oh, have I? Wasn't aware of that. Found his design now. Well, there are a few differences – whatever better suits the needs of one's design, I guess...
  2. I'd buy it. Actually I bought it myself for just the same reason, so after building the bridge once, I took it apart a week later and used quite a lot of the parts to build my museum: But even though there are a few dozens of normal tan bricks in the set, I still needed many more for the walls...
  3. Thanks. :) I got the special parts I didn't have, mostly roofs, windows, and wheels, via BrickLink. A full second set would have too much unneeded parts... The real Talent has higher windows and floors in the front and back (it's got its engines underneath) than in between, and that's what I copied here too. (That's what I called "varying floor level" in the list above.) Maybe not that easily recognizable on the Wikipedia images; Google has more. In the end, I guess it's a matter of taste if you like it better this way or lined up. Yes, but I think it looks better with a completely flat side. (As long as I don't forget to push them in properly...)
  4. The 7938 set is quite a nice train, but it lacks one thing in particular (if you're into realism): doors. Now I could have just replaced one window in the middle carriage with swinging doors, and that's it - but I wanted more, and this is the result: Edit: If you can't see any images here, it means that MOCpages is down once again – that's why I now uploaded them to Flickr, too. The overall shape of 7938 reminds a lot of the Bombardier Talent (see Wikipedia), so I took this train as a model for my mod - I guess the Lego designer might have, too... In the end, I made these changes to 7938: - Carriage length increased by 8 (middle) or 9 (front/back carriage); - One set of sliding doors per carriage; - Jacobs bogies (shared bogies); - Varying floor level; - Continuous black stripe around the windows; - Folded connection between carriages; - And minor things. - And headlights. » More photos and descriptions on MOCpages. Hope you like it...
  5. Like Ralph_S, I got back into building with Café Corner and Market Street, and thus I'm building full buildings with back walls and interior – good looks are more important than access for playing, which I don't do anyway. Much of the interior might be invisible most of the time, but I know it's there, and there are photos. :)
  6. I had ordered 5 minifigs (and a few other things) from German S@H which arrived today. I got 2 of the 6 I really want from this series and 1 of 2 that I want "somewhat", so I guess I was a little lucky. But I'll have to start practicing to feel which is inside because the dot bumps at the bottom weren't very reliable: they were reasonably clear on 2 packs, half-visible when I knew where they were supposed to be on 1 and virtually invisible/unfeelable on the other 2.
  7. Interesting combination that actually looks good. Though I think the combination of a separate engine and Jacobs bogies (shared bogies) may be a bit unusual, since they seem to be more common in reality on multiple unit trains without separate engines. Also your bogies look a bit too long compared to these small coaches, but I guess that's due to the hole placement on the baseplates. Which is why I use Technic plates instead on my mod of the 7938 – it's almost done, just missing a few parts that should arrive this week; I'll post it here then... I don't really mind the 'jaggies' on the front, so I kept them – I actually like the general shape of the front. The cars are 8-9 studs longer (with doors! ) and on Jacobs bogies – the motor's in the front and the battery pack nearby, I didn't notice any traction problems this way, by the way.
  8. Just got the square 2011 (Jan-May) catalog from a local shop here in Germany – it confirms April as a release date for the orange-wrapped Series 4 (and January for Series 3). Good to know we (probably) won't have to wait longer here this time. :)
  9. Lots of nice creations, doesn't make it easy to choose... brickcitydepot: 1 point Dix: 1 point kost u grlu: 1 point Philocrites: 1 point soundwave_sw: 1 point
  10. Seems they don't. :(. I found the bank today at a shop in southern Germany for 49.99 € - thay said they had received it just yesterday. (And they had "probably 10 Jan" for the collectible minifigs 3, BTW.) I think they also had other new police sets, but I didn't look closer at them. The bank box says "special edition" along its right edge, whatever that exactly means - there was no obvious explanation next to it. PS. Hello everyone. :)
