  1. Yup, just barely made this last one- but I did them all!
  2. Nice color combination on the fourth build, the gold and dark bley really pop with each other. The map room is nice as well, it is very Kaliphlin feeling and I love the addition of the hand drawn map. Great work
  3. Gorgeous cathedral, DG! I like that you used a triangular arch over the doorways, it give it a really unique feel instead of using the regular round ones. The amount of detail you put into is great, there are so many different things to look at without being overpowering. Great job!
  4. You have really defined your own style over the course of GOH, I can instantly recognize your builds! These ones are fantastic, love the clean lines, the details and they way you build two builds into one. You also have a great eye for color in your MOCs too, they seem realistic and organic. I can't find anything to complain about on these! Really great job!
  5. Great job on the forced perspective on the first photo! I know how difficult it is to frame it out, and you did a great job with it
  6. You have some really good figure posing going on in these builds, I really like the goblins coming down the rock face. The open ending is good too, I wonder what happened to Victor?
  7. The second castle is just perfect, I love the clean lines of building and how many different textures you put into it. Even the landscaping is well done! You really went all out on this one and it shows I think my favorite part though of all the builds is the bunk beds, I don't know what it is about them, but they are adorable. I want to outfit a whole castle full of them, lol.
  8. Finally got my challenge VI entry up, with just barely a few hours to spare. Here's a teaser for it: http://www.eurobrick...showtopic=81989
  9. Nestled in the ancient mystic sites the citizens of Historica readied for battle against the evil wizard Victor Revolword. Weapons were sharpened, armies amassed, battle plans scrawled out on parchment and ancient spells were practiced across the lands. Everyone was on the edge of their seat and nervous energy hung thick in the air. No one knew if they could really defeat Revolword, he was already very powerful and had overtaken their lands with ease with the aid of his elementals. As the weeks wore on, the unease in the camps never lifted but the citizens battle cries grew louder and louder. The time had come to march upon Revolword and take back the lands and freedoms that he had stolen from them. But that time never came. Late one cool summer night, the scouts came back with a very strange report. No elementals were seen roaming the dunes of the desert; none were seen flying though the skies, in fact there seemed to be none anywhere. It was like they just disappeared back into the earth from where they came. Reports trickled in that Revolword had left Cerdica to amass even more powerful trophies and trinkets from the different lands. He had already pillaged the cities of Avalonia and Mitgardia and the scouts reported he was headed to the capitol of Siccus Badlands, Petraea. The remaining soldiers of Petraea decided the best course of action was to send a small group into the capital city and see what information they could find. Was this just a trick of Victor to draw the armies out their safe areas and then destroy them? Sneaking back into the city was an easy task, no living soul was around. No guards, no elementals, just barren streets and the occasional screech of a black bird. The finally found him, the all powerful Victor Revolword, face down in darkening pool of his own blood. It covered the tiles of the royal palace and filled the air with a sickening smell of decay and evil. The only clue left behind to what happened to Victor were a few seemingly innocent feathers… perhaps they fell from Revolword’s hat in the ensuing scuffle. One thing was for sure, Victor was dead and not coming back. The body he left in this world was unceremoniously dumped in an unmarked grave and quickly forgotten about. Citizens rejoiced in all the lands, threw celebrations, congratulated the brave and quickly started to rebuild their lives. In the coming weeks the cities and towns slowly began to show signs of life again as everyone slowly made their way out of the remote sites they fled too. Questions were whispered in the streets and taverns that sprang up in the newly rebuilt towns. What happened to the elemental helm? Who killed Victor? Are they a friend or more powerful foe? No one knew the answers of course, but they all knew that one day the truth would be told. Meanwhile…. somewhere in Historica a gravely cackle echoed where no one could hear. “My pretty bird, have you recovered from what that nasty little man did to you? I can’t bear to see my precious little birds being hurt. What a stupid old man, thinking he could take over the world all by himself and leave nothing for anyone else. We showed him…didn’t we…” The end... for now... Thanks for reading everyone, this was quite a fun challenge!
  10. +1 for ZCerberus, excellent trading partner!
  11. This reminds me of the saying "Its not the size that matters, its what you do with it!" I firmly believe that three quality16X32 MOCS can easily trump three 48X48 MOCS in this challenge. I wouldn't worry about what size they turn out in the end, just focus on doing the best job you can with what you have. I know for me none of my builds are coming anywhere close to hitting the max 48X48 mark. Speaking of challenge 6- how many Kaliphins are thinking about trying to enter so far? I know I will have something, but I'll probably be working on it till the last moment like usual.
  12. I'm willing to split up the lot, just let me know what you have in mind. To save on shipping costs, it would be best to do more than one or two at a time though!
  13. LOL, Legonardo you are quicker than me! I was just coming here to mention if anyone in Avalonia is looking to bulk up their army for challenge 6 - I'm looking to trade for Lion torsos. You can see my post here if interested- http://www.eurobrick...showtopic=80780
  14. *****These have been traded and the transaction is complete. This thread can be locked. Thanks!********** Hi Everyone, I am looking to trade 18 Kingdoms Dragon knight torsos, 28 dragon triangular shields and 4 oval shields seen below. I am looking to do a one for one trade (torso for torso and shield for shield) for the Kingdoms Lion knights instead. The eight torsos on the left are from the Kingdoms chess set, so the gold on the torso is slightly darker and more matte overall than the torsos that came out of the regular sets. The 4 oval shields also came from the chess set and those colors are brighter than the triangular shields. Just for reference this is the torso I am looking to trade for- http://www.bricklink...p?P=973pb693c01 For the Lion knights torsos, I would like know up front how many of the ones you are offering are the red/white variety or if they are more towards the red/pink due to faint printing in some of the Kingdom sets. I would prefer to do the trade within the US to keep shipping costs down- but I'm willing to ship worldwide too especially if I can swap everything in one go. I've never traded here before, but you can check out my feedback over on Bricklink- http://www.bricklink...?u=erynlasgalen Thanks!
  15. It is great to see so much renewed interest in GOH after the 6th challenge is over. I was worried that it was getting awful quiet around here. Although I don’t do much talking, I do come to the forums almost every day to check out what is going on. I think our greatest strength right now is that we have a great group of people who really want to see GOH succeed and build on the great foundations that have been made by the original leaders. I’ve seen some really great points and ideas being brought up, so I thought I would throw my two cents in too and see what everyone thinks. It seems like a lot of people want to be able to do more free builds (me included), extend their own characters stories, while still having some challenges, and stirring up a bit of fun “warfare” between the guilds. What if we had something like a trophy system for part two along with a few larger individual prize challenges? Quick idea overview- We start with say eight trophies that can be won by the guilds by doing free builds. Each would have a different set of circumstances to win, first guild to come together to complete the challenge gets the trophy and glory. There are no time limits set on when the trophy can be won- besides when we think story two will end of course. This gives everyone a chance to still build for their guild, while extending their own stories, and not get burned out by just doing one big challenge. It also lets everyone regardless of the size of their collection take part and contributes to a larger scale. If the building starts getting stale, we can easily implement a new trophy to be fought over or have “limited time” trophies to work for. However, why have this lovely guild gold sitting around- if we have never had a chance to use it for anything? We could brainstorm a system in which the guild as a whole could come together to choose to spend some of their money to “steal” a trophy if certain conditions are met. For example, The Master of the Seas trophy originally required six seaworthy boats to be made and Mitgardia being the seafarers they are easily won this trophy. However Kaliphlin decides as a group to spend 200 of their gold to steal the trophy from Mitgardia, however in order to do this they now must have eight seaworthy boats (the six from the original challenge plus two new ones) in order to hold the trophy. Each time a guild wants to steal the trophy back, the MOC number would increase by two. This could get really sneaky, maybe Avalonia decides to make six boats in secret and then spend 600 gold to take the trophy and make it really hard to win back quickly. Maybe Nocturnus is having a bad day and decides to be really evil and spend 1000 gold to reset the trophy totally, and all the previous MOCs held for the trophy are now void and everyone starts back from square one. The possibilities are endless. There would be challenges of course- Do we place a rule that you can only build one MOC per person per trophy per week, to help offset the fact that some guilds have more people than others? What minimums standards would we want to put down to keep people from cranking out mediocre builds to quickly up the count? Administratively- would we have enough volunteers with free time and willingess to oversee the spending of guild money, keep track of what builds go to each guild trophy, ect? To me this sounds like to would be tons of fun, it would bring the individual guilds more together since you need to work together to get to a goal, and at the same time all the guilds get a chance to interact and have some fun “bickering and bantering” without having to resort to warfare between guilds. Hopefully I wasn’t too long winded here- now looking back at all this I say I don’t talk much but I sure can type some paragraphs
  16. First off- Congrats Rubuko on the win for Kaliphlin on Challenge five! It was well deserved! Like a bunch of other people, my non-lego life kinda took over the end of the year and I missed both the mini challenges as well. Although I do have two half finished MOCs sitting here for them, hopefully I get the inspiration to finish them off and post them. Challenge six seems really interesting. I think we have some of the best story- tellers, so Kaliphlin should have no problem with that part! I'm glad we have almost three months to work on it too, I know I will need every last minute of it like usual. Now I have to go catch up on everything going on!
  17. I'm going to have to blame the translation on Professor Tobias, he found a wonderful scroll in the cavern called "google translate", but the damage from the elements must have made the scroll illegible! The name does have a pretty ring to it though, LOL Thanks again for all the comments guys!
  18. I bought some back when they were available on Bricklink, and they are pretty good quality. They are a harder plastic and don't quite match the official LEGO colors, especially the tan, but they come pretty close. I don't have any of the new colors they came out with, but the older ones are a little shinier than I would have liked. They don't have the same bend as the LEGO leaves, so I have had some snap on me and they do develop white stress marks if you bend them too much.
  19. Wow, has it really been a year already? I got curious and went back and looks like I officially joined on Nov 8th last year. Before GOH, I only had one MOC (which I try not to think about ) and beyond that spent most of my time lurking. Its been great seeing how everyone has progressed with their building styles, it seems like every build gets better from than the last one across the board. I know I have picked up some great techniques and ideas from the other members. A year ago, I never thought I could make what I do today. Here's to another year of GOH!
  20. Love the irregular base on this one, and the crumbling tower is really nicely done. The cracks and crumbling bits really make it feel older and ancient.
  21. Great idea with the wrecked ship! I like all the humor you were able to put in with the figs, it really brought the MOC to life.
  22. Oh, I really like this entry - the colors and raggedness are perfect for a swamp. I love all the details you managed to fit in, and your figure posing is excellent!
  23. Great Moc! I really like the way you did the ragged cliff with the snow cover, and the oars are a nice touch of detail to the hut.
  24. I really like the cramped feeling you made in the camp, its packed with so many details, but doesn't seem overwhelming. The overgrown trees and the shrine are fantastic too. Very LOTR feeling- love it!
  25. I really like the colors of this one, the dark blue and white are very striking together. My favorite parts are the hollowed out pyramid ruins and the floor mosaic with the game tiles. I always wondered what could be done with those, who knew they made such a nice pattern when put together. Great job
