So many great details in this I especially love the top of the elven building, you captured the essence of the architecture perfectly. One day I am going to have to try out the horizontal rockwork, it looks so great here. The curve it makes is wonderful, and perfect for a ravine. Excellent MOC!

Wow, you can instantly tell this is an Avalonian entry, absolutely love it! The details and activity are wonderful, I really get the sense that they just set up camp and are going along with their lives now. My favorite detail has to be the chicken coop, it always amazes me how you can give builders the same materials and they come up with two completely differrent things. I actually have the same concept in my MOC, but I added a few more rungs and made a ladder instead. Top notch work on this one

I love the movement you captured with the waterfall, it is stunning. I also really like that the outside natural area is so different from the inside cavern, but they blend together so well. The only small critique I can give is, to me, the top section looks a little too polished. The buildings and bridge are absolutely fantastic, but they don't seem like they were put together quickly. I guess I would have liked to see a little more ramshackedness to it. Although, maybe its just that Mitgardian has much better carpenters than Kaliphlin does Love the activity down in the caverns too, you really did a good job with including a lot of activity without overwhelming the scene. Great work!

Hoshi No Mizuumi- The Lake of Stars

Thanks for all the comments guys, glad you liked it! It actually all came about because of the walkway, intially I didn't have anything over it, but the drop off from the top of the mountain to the walkway just threw everything off. I went through my inspiration file to see if I could come up with something, and was amazed how well the Torii gates translated over the to Kaliphlin color scheme. I just ran with it from there and a new Kaliphlin civilazation was born. The water is actually the one part I of the whole thing I am not 100% happy with. I wanted to do trans clear over the top, but the tiles were way out of my budget. I tried trans blue tiles, trans round plates, and normal plates, and it turned out either too shiny, or too rough looking. One day I will find a solution for it! The leaves and cheese are the new olive green that just came out, I intially tried using just the dark/regular green and it brought too much brightness to the mountain. I think the mix of the two worked well to give it a more aged look in the end. Doh! Thats what I get for rushing things! Thanks for catching it, I've got it changed over now -
Not much I can add besides, this is wonderful in a dark twisted Tim Burton morbid way. I am absolutely 100% in love with it. The details you manage to put into your creations boggles my mind.

I like the way your temple turned out, great solution to the roof problems you had earlier with it. The curves are nice and it fits in perfectly with Kaliphlin architecture. There are so many little great details, and just enough figs to make the camp lively. The one critique I can give is that I would have extended the green foliage from the left up along the front edge with the water. I think the green would really help draw your eye back to the right side of the MOC and up to the temple again. Really great job overall!

The contrast in this MOC is great, the black pyramid against the sand is a great look. The tree inside has to be my favorite part though, I like how they all intertwine to make one trunk. Really has a mystical feel to it. At first I wasn't sure about the purple tents, they seemed too bright overall. But now, the more I look at them the more they seem to be the perfect pop of color up against the neutral ones. Great Job!

My challenge five is finally up here --> http://www.eurobrick...showtopic=75863 Anyone else planning on entering? Seems a little quiet around here, I know I have been super busy, so I assume everyone else is too this time a year. Hopefully now that I have all my LUG duties out of the way, I can build more for the guild and get to commenting more! -
I really like the way you made the river curve around the ruins, it draws your eye to every part of the MOC and creates a really nice flow (no pun intended ) You also did a really great job with the figure posing too, the village feels very lively and everyone has something to work on.

An old story once said, before the sands and dust took over the Kaliphlin lands, there were magnificent lakes that dotted the landscape. The largest one, Hoshi No Mizuumi, was home to a highly intelligent race of people who made their homes within the rocky islands that crisscrossed the lake. As their population grew, they built sturdy walkways over the lake to help carry their citizens from one island to the next. The people of Hoshi No Mizuumi worshiped the stars and planets and devoted their lives to learning everything they could about them. They knew their home held great power, so philosophers, magicians, astrologers, and alchemists flocked to the area and filled the city with large libraries of information. For reasons unknown to us and lost in time, their city was suddenly abandoned. Was it the creeping sands of the badlands, dwindling resources or something more sinister that drove them to disappear from their home they worked so hard to build? The years have passed; the lakes have evaporated and turned to sand, and the mighty walkways of the ancient city has crumbled and decayed under the elements. Only a small portion of Hoshi No Mizuumi remains and this is one of the locations that the brave citizens of Kaliphlin have made their temporary home. The city has long been looted and taken of its valuable treasures and gold, but the real wealth is still contained within the many scrolls and books left behind by its ancient citizens. With the help of Professor Tobias Felix Montiger III and the Monks of Gorou, the People of Kaliphlin hope the scrolls and writings will uncover the secrets of destroying Victor Revolword before it is too late. Thanks for taking the time to look, more photos can be seen over on my Flickr stream here---> http://www.flickr.co...s/erynlasgalen/ Comments and critiques are always welcome!

Is there any chance that the deadline for this is going to pushed back a bit for everyone? I know for me with between work, Challenge Five, and LUG duties, I am tapped out of buliding time for this month and I have some ideas I really want to do for this.

Surprisingly right through the LEGO store, lol. I just found out about our local LEGO train club, and they have window in the Columbus store that rotates every four weeks. Most of their builders focus on large scale city and train layouts so they have a hard time filling the window sometimes, so they asked if I would put my last challenge MOC in for September. I don't know if they do this across all the stores, but I got 30% off five unique sets for displaying it. I had to make some minor changes to it since the charred bodies and elemental eating people isn't quite within their violence guidelines, lol. -
Wonderful first MOC for the group- I really like the Greek inspiration going on, I think it fits perfectly on the shore of Kaliphlin. Like everyone else, I love the colors, curves and the brick built plant! The simplicity of it all works really well.

According to someone on Toys and Bricks, you may be able to get a price adjustment since they changed the price within seven days of you buying it. You have to go under your orders screen and do the "contact us about this order." Its worth a shot at least- it is a great price either way for a nice set. I just picked one up earlier this month for 30% off and it was worth every penny. -
Cajun Elves- that would be epic! I am sure we can fit them in Kaliphlin, we have the swamps in the South! I really enjoyed the backstory of the guild, although my favorite part is the ramshackled house. The different layers of it are great, and the brown tile works really well with the white walls. I love that combination.

The figures on the front of this are great, they really remind me of hieroglyphics and were the first thing I noticed. I also really like the bright roof on this, it would really stand out in the middle of the desert. Also in awe of your patience for doing all the mosaic work- it looks beautiful!

Great job on this entry I like that your vinaigrette tells a whole story instead of just showing one scene- very creative.

Thanks for all the comments everyone- I really had fun doing this one. I almost forgot how I enjoyed doing smaller builds since all the challenges seem to come out massive, lol. I had to do some searching, I originally thought it was from the female viking from the Series 7 collectable figs. It turns out it is the female head from the Village Mill Raid, although they are both very simliar. http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItemIn.asp?P=3626bpb594&in=M

Kayne- I am so sorry to hear about your wife, sending lots of positive thoughts your way! -
Whew just made it under the deadline :) Guild name: Wyndgardiam Guild Location: Wyndgardiam settlers can be found sailing and living in the seas surrounding the Historica mainland. While the majority of the citizens congregate in the warmer southern waters, some brave souls have set off and formed colonies in the frozen northern waters. Ruler: Not much is known about the Ruler of Wyndgardiam, Aitheria, some say she was born from the waters of Historica and sent to rule over this land- others say she simply ran away and sought freedom on the open waters of the sea. Courageous and resourceful, she quickly gained the people’s favor and was chosen to watch over the many varying settlements. Colors: The guild colors are blue and gold, representing the heavens above and the wide waters that sustain the people of this guild. Characteristics: Wyndgardiam citizens have been known to have the longest life spans of anyone in Historica due to the amount of fresh seafood they eat each day and the abundant amount of vegetation that is grown on the islands. There are many varied tribes of people across the waters, ranging from mere humans, to colonies of mer-people, and rogue criminals of all shapes in sizes sailing the waters. Capitol and Land: Located on an island in the southern sea, the Capitol Kealani, is the largest and most populated area of Wyndgardiam. The gold capped white spirals of the city can be seen for miles, and are reminiscent of the crown of Neptune himself. Due to the tropical climate of the islands, the people rarely go hungry due to the varied island plant life and abundant sea life brought in each day. Floating raft towns can be found sprinkled around the sea, providing weary sea travelers with amenities not usually found in so far from the mainland. Some rafts have even been outfitted with small plots of land and simple rain collectors to provide fresh fruits and vegetables in the middle of nowhere. If you travel to the ragged cliffs that dot the Oceanside of Historica, you may run across one of the famous hanging cities filled with Wyndgardiam citizens. Build directly attached to the cliffs and extending into the caverns and caves, these mainland cities provide much needed shelter from long sea voyages, and are the main trading ports for the guild. Flourishing communities can be found on many of the surrounding islands, and the citizens live a relatively peaceful life far from the mainland. However, there always seem to be some who’s hearts are corrupted and love the chaos of preying on others. Wyndgardiam unfortunately is not totally immune to these souls and unfortunate travelers who stray into the far Eastern sea are often met by unsavory bands of criminals bent on robbing them of everything. Rumors of brutal towns existing on the far islands are often whispered about, but anyone who goes in search of them never return to confirm the tales. Hope you guys enjoy it!

Wow Gabe- you never cease to amaze me with your builds, this one is looking fantastic! Can't wait to see the rest of the pictures! -
Wow, there are so many great things with this one. I love the cheese slopes on the edges of the towers, I don't think I have seen it done like that before. The textures and colors you used a excellent as well, so many little details to take in. My favorite part of it is the very textural building and rock face over the smooth lime green of the swamp. It is absolutely perfect
-
The foliage is so absolutely gorgeous that I barely noticed there were men fighting in the middle of it. I love all the varying textures and different plants - turning the sword plants upside down makes excellent looking trees. The irregular base was a great idea too- it really gives it a more organic feel. Fantastic job

So many details to look at, I love the action you built in with all the mini-figs, it really brings the scene to life. There are so many great things to look at, my favorite parts are the double chimney, the pearl gold details, and flower boxes under the windows. Really beautiful MOC!
