  1. I don't know how I missed this the first time around, sounds like a great challenge. Can we claim two cards for second challenge? If so, put me down for the Fortune and Death cards.
  2. Ska- please feel free to use any of my builds for the recruiting! I'm back from vacation, now so hopefully the building can begin for me again this weekend. I have one LUG duty to take care of before October and then it is all Historica for me. Nocturnus seems to be in full swing now, can't wait to see what comes of that! There are quite a few Ravens popping up over there too, so we might want to keep watch of our southern swamplands just in case. Sightings of Raven creatures down there too...
  3. Amelia will be back for Book two, can't wait! I'm still away from my collection for the next week, but will get updated photos once I get back. Can't start book two with the same outfit, lol.
  4. Amrakect will work perfectly for me. Give me a few days and I will have a back story and shield for it since the only thing we have so far for it is the market. Gives me a good excuse to get building again, beyond the quick MOC I am doing now. Haven't decided if it will be my main character or another one will representing the city yet. I'll think it over while I get the shield and things worked out.
  5. I just upgraded my setup for less than $35 bucks and it has made a world of difference in my photos. These are the clamp lights I picked up from Walmart for less than $7.00 a piece. http://www.walmart.com/ip/Bayco-8.5-Clamp-Light/14003467 In them I put 100 watt Daylight bulbs, I find them to be the most neutral bulbs and they don't put out very much yellow or blue light in your photos. Most of my MOCs will not fit in a standard light tent that you can buy, so instead I made a tri-fold matte board box that has worked out pretty well for me. Just take two pieces of white matte board -keep one whole and cut one in half. On the piece you cut in half, cut two large rectangles in the middle of the sheets and then cover the holes with a single layer of tissue paper. This is the section you will position the two lights behind to diffuse the light. Tape the two pieces to the back full board and there you have it. I have a white table so I didn't bother putting anything as a base, so if your table isn't white I would suggest picking up a piece of white poster board to line the bottom. The best thing about it is that it folds up very flat, so it is easily stored behind a bookcase or shelf until you need to use it. It may not look very professional, but it is cheap and does the job nicely- overall it was about $30. $14 (two clamp lights), $8 (4pack light bulbs), $4.00 (matte board), $3.00 (packing tape), $1.00 (tissue paper)
  6. I'm not saying that there should be rules to who can be picked to be a leader, that is not my choice in the least and I would welcome anyone who wants to join Kaliphlin. I meant that being the leader should not be your only motivating reason for switching guilds. You can only move once so make sure you like the Kaliphlin aesthetics and will be happy with your new home guild even if you are not picked.
  7. Like I said in the other thread, I am 100% against anyone moving guilds just to try to be a leader here. If Zakon wants to come to Kaliphlin to help and contribute to the guild as a whole than I say you are more than welcome, but if you want to be here purely for some power I reckon it wouldn't be taken very positively.
  8. I'm really looking forward to Book II, the changes seem to be just what we need to keep it exciting. I really like the idea of bringing two people in for the story for each challenge, and the perk that home members get to pick their side in the civil war. As for the Kaliphlin "core" I would hope that more consideration would be given to the members of Kaliphlin that have been here for sometime and chose not to change guilds. We have quite a few veterans and I would hate to see an influx of people coming to Kaliphlin just for the chance to be a leader. Now the question is who is considering moving from their original guild to a new one? As much as I love mountains and swamps and trees, I know I will be sticking with Kaliphlin.
  9. No worries! I will just have to post it as a free build down the road. Good luck everyone!
  10. Any chance there will be an extension on the deadline for this? I wanted to make something, but I've just had too many other projects that took over my free time lately.
  11. I think the council idea is a great one, I would be interested in it. We should probably run it by the "higher powers" though just to make sure before we make too many plans. I think it fits perfectly with the way things work in Kaliphlin. My main character doesn't fit too well though, as I lay no claim to city or mighty wealth. I always just went with Amelia living out of Petraea since there are not too many people stationed there. If need be though I can invent/MOC a story to remedy that, I have been looking at resurrecting some of my Challenge 5 ideas. I had to go back to see when I joined, it was all the way back on 11/9/2011- Has it really been that long?
  12. You really captured a battle scene here, great work on the minifig posing. I really like that the color palette is done with the dark bley, the different textures and details are all excellent.
  13. Love the landscaping on this one, it goes perfect with the little hut. I really liked the color combination with the red and tan, it plays nicely off of all the green foliage.
  14. Haha, funny thing- that is exactly what I was thinking about too when I did the flags, I love that section of the animal kimgdom. This build reminds me of the old adventurers sets, but so much cooler! The rocks and bridge are excellent and the whole thing has that windy worn look.
  15. I love the use of the sand green brown combo on the grey walls. Great combination, and looks really natural. Can't wait to see more of it!
  16. I love how this turned out, it looks great. The vegetation is wild, and goes nicely with the black cliffs. The statue/totem is my favorite part, I really like how it dominates the landscape while fitting perfectly in.
  17. Hands up, who's feet are incredibly painful after this long journey through Kaliphlin? So many wonderful sites have been seen, its almost sad that this first journey is coming to a close soon. Before you leave this wonderful place, I recommend spending a few days wandering the streets of the lovely capitol Petraea. There are many wonderful houses to be seen here, and the Kaliphlin people are always welcoming of new strangers to the land. Finally done, this is the last MOC for me for Inside Kaliphlin. It has been really fun collaborating with the other guild members on this, and it has been great to see the responses from everyone. I really hope you enjoyed our journey around Kaliphlin!
  18. We are in luck, on our way to the next destination we happened to cross in front of one of Kaliphlin's greatest exports, the famous Black Oil. I recommend we do not stay long here, the fumes can be quite dangerous, and lets not mention what happens when the sun gets too hot
  19. Really nice, I like the atmosphere you made on this, the figs and animal posing are really great. I can't help but wonder what that man is doing in the stump though, lol.
  20. Nice little vignette, you captured the sorrow really well.
  21. I think the same thing on some of my MOCs, I just don't think pictures can do them justice sometimes. I still love the sunset on this one, and great use of the brick built horse!
  22. Wow, those Lerik'ai are scary people, I must remember not to run into them. The landscaping is good on this one, I like the low lying plants as it doesn't distract from the figs. At first I wasn't fond of the curved tan piece, but now looking at this again, I think it works well here and adds a nice texture to the sand.
  23. Great job on the Kaliphlin architecture, colors are perfect on this one and I really like the splash of color with the orange leaves.
  24. Very nice house wagon, I always love when I see another one and this is no exception!
