  1. Hope you guys feel better soon! I think you did a really good job on the rough swells look, I would not want to be out the sea right now. The micro boat is great too!
  2. I really like the way you did the elemental rising out of the water, and the way you did the wave pushing the building down is very well done. The building reminds me of something out of LOTR, very earthy and light. Great job!
  3. Wow, this is an incredible scene, the micro city is very well done and I love the phoenix. The perspective is really fantastic on it. The whole thing reminds me of an old Renaissance painting with the colors and the way it is staged. The only thing that sorta bothers me that it doesn't stir any emotions for me of destruction/fear/terror or of Mitgardia, but it is still a very gorgeous piece of work.
  4. Wow, what a great build. I think your elemental is my favorite one so far, it is exactly what I would think of with an earth build. You really managed to fit a lot of little details in- I love the fact you used the frog as the nose. As cool as the power functions is, I actually prefer the build when it isn't moving. While the tower tipping is a nice touch, I think it has enough action and chaos without it. I loved looking through everyone's homes to see what they were keeping in their attics.
  5. Congrats on the first build! It only gets more addicting after this I really like the house- its very clean and simple, perfect for a little country cottage.
  6. This makes me wonder what all the monks are drinking while they are painting, lol. I really like it, it is different and unique and something I wasn't expecting at all. I think you did a wonderful job with it. I love how as the challenges go on, people are starting to get more and more creative!
  7. I love how you used all four of the elements for this- it definitely gives it a more chaotic feeling and is really creative. Out of the four, the water one is my favorite- the quicksand idea is brillant!
  8. Great minds think alike, lol. My first idea was going to be a huge tornado, and have the houses situated in it like the Wizard of Oz. After building for about ten minutes I realized how difficult and part extensive it was it was going to be and rethought my idea. I think the micro scale of it works much better for this!
  9. The micro village actually extends from the front side all the way to the back where the villagers are. The wall behind it was very plain, so I got creative in finding a new way to incorporate some more micro work in the piece. That is one thing I wish I could have done a little more with, but my choice of color scheme got in the way. I think if I could have afforded to buy some more of the dark orange plates it would have broken up the black a little more and the transition would have been smoother. I brick-linked the pieces and almost had a heart attack, so I had to scrap the idea and keep soldiering on without them. As I was building it the black became more of a symbol the Victor's evil spreading and engulfing things, so I was able to get past my hang-ups with it. Thanks for all the comments guys! I really appreciate it!
  10. My challenge four entry is posted now with new photos. I had to go back and re-edit all of the pictures because they uploaded very badly and I couldn't stand it. See Destruction of Petraea here...
  11. It was like any other day in the capitol city of Petraea, with its sunny skies and hot breezes. Stories of a Mage, Victor Revolword, had started creeping through the city, and tales of destruction and chaos were being told in all the taverns. As fear and uncertainly started creeping through the city, the citizens became increasing worried that their city could become over run as well. They shouldn't have any fear, some said, as the Royal Guard was in the city to keep them safe and no one would dare attack them at this point. Alas, those people were wrong and the malice of Victor extended into their fair city as well. Outnumbered by the evil that was quickly taking over the city, the Royal Guards gave up their posts and concentrated on getting as many of its citizens out of the city and to safer ground. Victor Revolwood had better be careful, as he has won this battle- but the people of Kaliphlin do not give up so easily. Cities are can be destroyed, villages burned and flooded -but it takes much more to break the spirits of our people. Extra Details: While browsing through some of my old photos for inspiration I came across a picture saved of a old striped building that just screamed to be made in Lego. Many bricks and curses later this is what I came up with. I severely underestimated the amount of bricks and plates that it would take to get to look, but in the end I think it was worth it. After condensing the size and taking some of the details I wanted out, I just made it under the size guidelines for this one. You can click on the links to go to the original photo on Flickr, I will be adding a few more pictures there tonight, but I wanted to get the bulk of them up before the deadline. For some reason, the photos look a lot crisper on Flickr then when I uploaded them here, but it could be my imagination or computer or browser.. or all of them, lol. Just edited with new photos, looks much better than before. Hope you all enjoy it, thanks for taking the time to look! C&C are more than welcome.
  12. I really want to shrink down to mini-fig size and go live here. Is there anyone with a shrink-ray out there? Anyone? I wish I could see this in person, it is spectacular! This build is just awe inspiring- if I had to list all the things I love about it it would turn into a novel. The small details everywhere are just mind-boggling. If this isn't front page worthy- I don't know what is!
  13. This is a wonderful entry! There are so many things I like about it- the palms are fantastic, the color mottling over the buildings is great, and the atmosphere is spot on. I can't think of any complaints! The elemental rising from the sea is great, although I am quite jealous of the amount of trans blue tiles you have Everything ties in together perfectly, you really have an eye for details!
  14. What a great idea- I didn't even think to do the whole challenge as a micro. I really like what you did with the dragon and the castle. Keep it up!
  15. Very cool- you brought a lot of action to the little scene. The tower technique and texture is really nice- I like how you incorporated the 1X2 plates towards the top but were still able to keep the round shape. Any chance we can get a shot of the front section of the building too? I like your interpretation of the elemental, a group of two or three of these would definitely up the scary factor of it.
  16. You staged this one really well- I totally can feel the panic coming through from all the chaos. There are so many great details packed in, but not so much that is is overwhelming. I gotta agree with everyone else - the color combination of the dark blue house is fantastic. The third pic is my favorite, although I do (morbidly ) love the guy being lifted out of the roof on the other house. At first I didn't notice it, then had a good chuckle when I took a closer look.

  20. Sorry for the drop off guys- I've been crazy busy the last few weeks (seems like everyone has gotten summer fever). Now that work has dwindled down again, I will have lots more time for building. I will have a entry made up, but I will be pushing the deadline on it. I am about 75% done right now, still have to do the base, staging, and detail work. I'm hoping for a sunny day tomorrow to get it all photographed. What I have seen so far from everyone looks great, can't wait to go give all the entries a proper look over soon!
  21. Thanks everyone, I am truly honored to be a part of the Kaliphlin guild! I must say, the announcement just made my weekend! I think everyone did a terrific job this time around, and we are sooo close to overtaking first place now. Now, I have to go catch up on everything that has happened the last few weeks - so much reading to catch up on!
  22. There are so many great details in this one, I really like the temple slowing being taken over by the plants. The photos are really fantastic too, the one with Quinn looking at crystal was my favorite, looks like it came right out of a movie. Can't wait to see the follow-up stories on it!
  23. 2) 1pt 5) 1 pt 7) 1 pt 31) 1 pt 33) 1 pt Great job everyone! I could easily give out a dozen more points if I had them!
  24. Even though you only came away with three photos, they are framed really well with the figures and very clear and detailed. I think you did a great job with them. I have to tell myself this too - the only way to improve is to keep building, so keep up the good work!
  25. Very creative guardians, I love the alien/reptile look. I hope the travelers snagged those keys off the 2nd creature's pants, who knows what they open!
