Thomas the Tank Engine - MOCs of locomotives and rolling stock
Murdoch17 replied to Murdoch17's topic in LEGO Train Tech
Presenting the three big engines of The Railway Series books! From left to right: - Henry the green engine (4-6-0) - Gordon the express engine (4-6-2) - James the mixed-traffic engine (2-6-0) All three of these engines' models are based on the same Harry Potter set 76423 - Hogwarts Express and Hogsmeade Station. However James is a bit oversized in length due to his too-big pony truck up front. (I can't seem to fix it, so thus it will stay the way it is.) Gordon is still a WIP, and Henry has had his cab roof and firebox top lowered a plate IRL to be more in line with the others. (I hope it looks better now @The Brick Boss!) Thoughts anyone? -
The 40 is in studs, not CM. Also, I may be wrong, but I *think* R stands for radius, meaning it's 80 studs from side to side. @zephyr1934 or the moderators might know more. I don't think about these things... I just lay down track, not thinking about such things!

Official Lego track is R40, I believe.

Indiana Jones 2023 - Rumors & Discussion
Murdoch17 replied to Pulp Detective's topic in LEGO Licensed
Counterpoint: Sarge from CARS universe is a WW2 military jeep, right down to the star on his hood, and was released in 2011. That same white star is all they would have had to put on it - nothing more. Everyone would recognize what it was. But it's all moot now. -
Thomas the Tank Engine - MOCs of locomotives and rolling stock

Henry has finally arrived in the first post in the real world! (He would have been done sooner, but I got sent two wrong parts that had to be rectified.) To create Henry in his latter form from the Thomas and Friends TV show / The Railway Series books, I took set 76423 (Hogwarts Express and Hogsmeade Station) and modified it quite a bit. I revised the boiler design, added two plates to the cab height, devised working pistons, up-sized the front bogies' wheels, and changed around the tender a tiny amount. Here we see Henry with his driver (on left) and fireman. (on right) The rear of the tender. Inside of Henry's cab. Thoughts? -
Technically, we have a gray one. (Dark gray, that is ) but yes, both would be welcome. Especially green.

Wizarding World 2023 - Rumors & Discussion
Murdoch17 replied to Clone OPatra's topic in LEGO Licensed
There is no new LEGO Harry Potter game, it was nothing more than a rumor. LEGO and Traveler's Tales are through working together due to working conditions / culture at TT. (we've discussed that latter bit before and don't need to rehash it further.. it's off topic) -
Herlock Sholmes - Second Adventure Ch10

...I'm now questioning everything I ever held dear, including my very sanity. Down is up, left is right, wrong is right, birds fly underground, and moles ply the sky. -

I had guessed it was Thaum from the blockhead reference the episode before. But, I would have gone an accused the poor @Professor Thaum of the deed (as I didn't know he had a twin), so I'm glad I kept my mouth shut! -
Indiana Jones 2023 - Rumors & Discussion

I'm still mad we didn't get a sand green 50's "US Army" staff car and a Model T hot-rod race set back in 2008... The less said about lost potential for this year's sets, the better. -
Lego Licensed Parts available from Bricks & Pieces

I hope so. I want the gold / trans blue sword so bad... and Mr. Oz's fabulous hair. -
Much better. The loco is now, dare I say, perfect. (as perfect as our brick-based medium gets, at least!) Keep up the good work @Legownz. Now you just gotta build a B unit to go with it!

Licensed and / or Lego exclusive sets rarely leak these days, and when they do, such as Concorde, it was just about a week before the reveal. New themes also leak less as well.

Disney Properties 2023 - Rumors & Discussion
Murdoch17 replied to Huigberts Builds's topic in LEGO Licensed
I wouldn't be surprised to see Amazon owning 1/3 of everything (including Lego), a hybrid AppleDisney the next third, and Nestle the rest by then. That covers general goods, technology + media, and food / consumables. All of it run by computers, produced by machines, and delivered by drones. And if they ever merged together, it will become like Buy-N-Large from Wall-E... -

Is girl going to be 4 still interested in Duplo for 2+?
Murdoch17 replied to ks6349's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Personally, I would ask the parents opinions. Also, there are 4+ LEGO sets that *should* be more in her age range. But, as I said - ask the parents first as every child develops different. -
DC Superheroes 2023 - Rumors & Discussion
Murdoch17 replied to Clone OPatra's topic in LEGO Licensed
I swear in season 1 of the '66 Batman, Freeze also had a cold suit / gun and couldn't survive in the heat.... but I don't think his wife was involved yet. We even got a minifgiure of him in a polybag back in 2016. So this idea isn't that new: It is over 50 years old! -
I agree with Lemerbrix. It looks way better now!

This LEGO version of the famous double-deck AEC Routemaster bus (Wikipedia link if you care to read up on this famous bus type) is a mashup of 2019 Harry Potter set 75957 - Knight Bus, albeit scaled back a bit. This model required a bit of changes to the originally purple triple-deck bus... more than you might expect, actually! Sadly, the original three-studs-long windows aren't yet available in red, (even after all these years!) so I made do with different windows. The rear of the bus. The sand green 1x4 tiles are advertising billboards. Sadly, neither the roof nor second level come off to seat figs inside. The family of Buses is complete! From left to right with a link to each bus's own topic: Knight Bus (from Harry Potter films), Routemaster (you are here), Bertie the bus (from Thomas and Friends). Thoughts?
