Not strictly Star Wars (or in fact Lego at all!) related, but on a recent trip to IKEA, I came across the Synas display box and immediately thought it would be ideal for displaying smaller sets and MOCs. At £20, it wasn't exactly cheap, but I thought it was suitable recompense for having to go to IKEA in the first place. The actual lighted area measures around 30x30 studs. I've so far had a couple of constraction figures (Greivous and Obi-Wan) battling on it as the lid/box section can be left in place or removed to simply leave the flat lit section. Here are a couple of shots just to give you an idea. And with the box off... And finally with a baseplate...

LEGO Star Wars 2016 Pictures and Rumors

Just having a look at the Encounter on Jakku set, in particular the Luggabeast. I really can't tell how the printed 'eye' piece is attached - surely at least one of those round 2x2 pieces must be new to looking at the studs on the side. It looks even weirder in a toy fair picture I found here http://www.bricktoynews.com/lego-star-wars-summer-2016-sets-encounter-jakku/ Edit: I've actually thought about it more and realise what's going on. Sorry for being a time waster! -
Brilliant- love the elevators.

Sold - just for Dengar! His little speeder bike is actually pretty sweet too and I'm sure the rest of it can be put to good use. -

The image on the back of the box definitely looks like he has the waist cape printing we've seen before, but it's not visible in the other images b -

New summer 2016 official City set images are out - anyone got any ideas when we can expect the Star Wars images... They're usually around the same time. -

Totally loving the style of this - can't wait to see it with the red Lego logo attached. Also can't wait for the "shadow" trooper minifigure! -

I own all three, they're all great sets. The gunship is really interesting, the clones are nice but the mini figures all have the horrible clone wars faces. I've could swapped mine to match the Rebels version and it looks pretty cool. The shuttle is just iconic and looks fantastic on display, especially with your imperial army on parade! The transporter is better IRL than in any pictures, and the mini figure selection is fantastic. It does greatly benefit from an extension (mine is now 6 studs longer and it makes a big difference) but looks great on display too. If you can only get one set, I'd go 1. Tydirium (just) 2. FO transport 3. Police gunship. Maybe hang on until May 4th and get the shuttle and transport on sale! -
FirstlY, has anyone tried the Capaldi Dr Who head and hair on the Tarkin torso - seems like it would be good but don't want to splash out on the dimensions pack if anyone's tried it IRL and thinks otherwise. Secondly, the torso and skirt from the upcoming CMF Maleficent looks to have potential for making one of Palapatine's old cronies from rotj. Also, maybe the Donald Duck arms could be added to the Bespin Guard from The UCS Slave 1?

I just love this - totally captures the scene in every way and the photography/lighting is outstanding. Can't wait for more pics.

Whilst browsing eBay for a bargain mint in box cloud city (couldn't seem to find one today), I came across these stands which look pretty sweet. Here's an example one, although a wide range are available https://www.ebay.co.uk/ulk/itm/141869879874 The stands themselves aren't that pricey, but obviously the postage from Australia is pretty hefty. I was wondering if anyone had tried them and thought they were worth the money.

"Fell to his death" suggests to me that he is actually dead. It's the word "death" that does it. ;-) -

I've never seen this before - it's fantastic! Must have taken so long. Any idea if there are any BTS photos or good quality stills - the emperors throne room looks amazing. -

For me, it's not that there's anything wrong with the minifigure - I'd be happy to have one - but I just don't care about not getting it, which is a real shame for a May 4th exclusive. In fact, if they were giving us a storm trooper, I'd almost prefer a standard FO storm trooper to build up my army. A though this talk of a Daniel Craig made me wonder - could we be getting our first female trooper? -

The torso and head are from 7965 Millennium Falcon and the hair is from 9495 Y-Wing. It's far from perfect, but it's the best I've got! -
Sorry - no parts list as it was pretty much experimenting all the way. Most of the parts I ordered were from bricks and pieces from the UCS set - the dark red bits and some sand green. There's no major change to the structure at the round end of the skirt, the plates are the same and it's just a matter of filling in with bricks and plates to give it the strength. On the other side of the fins, the structure is pretty much all new as the base is 2 studs narrower than the original - there are a couple of hinges to get the angles. The main body is much the same, but the trunk is new to allow for the angles at the cockpit end. Sorry not to be more help!

I think Vader doesn't look great here either. No leg printing? The last two Vader's we've had (ISD and final duel) both had better printing than this. -

Any chance of pointing us towards the photo? ;) -
I don't know about that! I'm pretty pleased with it though - especially since I discovered there were 8 1x3 LBG slope w/bow that could be "borrowed" from the republic AV-7 cannon!
-
Thanks for all the feedback! I totally agree with the suggestions, so I've had a play about today. After a long time SNOTting around, I finally settled on this. Much to my horror however, I discovered I did not have any 1x3 slopes w/bow in LBG - hence the temporary dark blue section (maybe it's just the Jango version without a coat of paint!). It's still not perfect (mainly due to the slight ridges along the cockpit end of the trunk, but it's improving.

I love the UCS Slave 1, it has been my favourite OT ship since I owned the Kenner 3.75" version back in the early 80s. Unfortunately, my wallet doesn't love the price and with the amount of other Star Wars sets being released, it's not on the horizon. I'm not sure if the UCS is genuine minifigure scale or not (I'm sure someone's done the measurements), but I decided I actually wanted something that might fit more easily into a diorama, so I decided on a MOD of 8097. I was lucky enough to pick up a set without minifigures for less than £50 on eBay, and only needed one Bricks & Pieces and one Bricklink order to get what I needed (mostly bricks from the UCS). Without further ado, I give you the Not-really-Ultimate, Not-really-Collectors Series Slave 1! The main job was re-shaping the dark red bottom 'skirt' which was far too blocky in the original. This made the top/rounded end 2 studs wider, so a bit of fiddling was needed. I lost the flick fire mechanism, but kept the compartment play features as I felt the fit with the aesthetic and purpose of the craft. A bit of greebling on the fin arms made a world of difference. The 4x6 dark red tile with studs on 3 edges (I'm sure it has a name) actually lies a lot flatter and smoother than it looks here. The outline is not perfect, but I'm pretty happy at this scale. The nose guns are pretty much a copied/scaled down version of the UCS. Flight mode, with Boba Fett at the controls. The underside is pretty much as-was. The removal of the flick-fire rack means the interior is actually pretty empty. I've covered the opening with a small 4x6 hatch for now that may become some sort of removable holding cell. One final shot with Boba Fett scouting for his latest prey. No arm printing? Well, that's for UCS only! All comments and suggestions for improvements gratefully received and acted upon!

Cheers for adding the picture - I'm out and about so couldn't do it on my phone. I reckon the minifigure is actually pretty useful for lots of scenarios - cantina, Jabba's Palace etc. -
