  1. I don't know as I've never built the Death Star but... from watching the build part of this video I was wondering if it might be possible to MOD the set so each floor is removable. From the video it looks like each floor is built completely befor attaching it - could some tiles and jumpers be included between floors to make it a modular?all the walls seem to be 2 studs thick - any chance of making them 2 layers of single studs so the segments could be separated? -Anyone who owns 10188 ever tried this?
  2. Ha! This sort of comment is why I love our community so much! It just shows how passionate we are. I guy told me off for a picture on fb the other day cos a minifigures hand was upside down. I love it!
  3. I love slave 1 and I love your MOD, and I'm super-chuffed to see mine get a mention too. I've made some updates to mine, particularly the upper-trunk section - I'll try and post some pics. I really love the cockpit section you've done. I always great problems with this being unbalanced whenever I add detail here. Firing mechanism looks fantastic too!
  4. Will be cool to get a couple of different rebel pilots - maybe the one dark flight suit like the U-wing pilot and a traditional orange one. Either way, they'll fit in nicely with OT stuff.
  5. Bunker battle sounds promising to me - could be a source of shore troopers. A larger version of the battle of endor bunker, maybe a different Jyn? Sounds good. I guess the hinted X-wing will be the black and white partisan one we've seen - maybe that where the Saw minifigure will be. Also guessing that the Krennics shuttle microfighter will include the imperial officer.
  6. This was my thought too (made a similar comment on the brick set review actually!). There may have only been 213 extra pieces in the set, but the 16 pieces that go into making those 4 minifigures can account for a big chunk of the above-inflation price hike.
  7. I still love this set, but thinking back, who are the two resistance fighters supposed to be? What scene are they related to - the opening fight on Jakku? The battle on Takodana. In retrospect, they seem like a strange (but welcome) inclusion.
  8. I thought as much - can't include pieces from one licence in another. No worries though, there's loads on Bricklink for pennies.
  9. It could have made for the job! If anybody has the Dr Strange set, do you know if there was a spare one included?
  10. Loads of nice pictures - I guess we'll see their review of the re-release this week. I really look forward to the comparisons and comments on the new minifigures. I just hope this doesn't result in another wave of "I've been cheated of my entitlement to a new set" comments clogging up the next few pages.
  11. With the "I've seen it in the shops" photos and videos starting to pop up, has anybody managed to find any early reviews on YouTube? I'm desperate just for some more images!
  12. Never mind the UCS Falcon - this is what I'd like to see reissued. I'm sue now there would be a way of getting the angles without the magnets too. Brilliant room too!
  13. Hey all, This is not much more than a 30 min play around, but I thought I'd share it anyway. I recently picked up a little string of battery-powered LED lights with the intention of back-lighting a Death Star corridor MOC that I've never finished. They've just been sat about so I thought I'd see if they actually worked - with inspiration being supplied by the arrival of a advent calendar minifigure! Just by poking the tine LEDs into the axel hole in the corner of the 12x12 bricks and covering up the hole with the trans-yellow stud, it gave me quite a nice effect! I took a couple of shots which showed the lights nicely, but didn't really capture the mood. I MOCed up a few of the Cloud City buildings (fairly accurate to the photo I used) and then set up the background. It's not a greenscreen or photoshop job... can you guess how I did it? I particularly liked the way the evening sun's reflecting off of some of the surfaces - the end of the Carbonite block, Slave 1's ramp and Boba's helmet for example. I also like the way it's coming through the windows of the "Bespin Heights" apartment block. To get the effect, I simply sent a still image of the set set from my iPad to my TV - see the behind the scenes shot below. Not exactly a professional set up, but it's a techniques I might use again if I need an exotic background for a shot. You can find a few more pics here on my flickr. Feed back and thoughts always welcome! (ps. I know the landing platform is supposed to be circular before anyone mentions it :-))
  14. Is it double VIP in the UK next month too?
  15. I can see that the land speeder will use the tatooine Luke and Obi-Wan (neither of which are new) but I'd guess the skiff will probably use the carbon freezing Han. I'd have thought the only new piece in common with the Death Star will be Han's hair.
  16. I thinks really hard to call when trying to equate screen time with the minifigures we get in the first wave of a new movie. Last year we got the snowspeeder and three snow troopers and Unkars thug on force Friday and they're all blink-and-you'll miss them characters. The inclusion of the Kanjiclub boys with the Falcon and the action on the box would suggest they'd have a lot more to do than they actually did. I really hope we get more shore troopers though!
  17. watched it without the sound but it's a great review anyway! Wow- that thing looks solid and plenty swooshable too. You're right - more shore troopers please, but I still wish the helmet had a dedicated mold. They look a bit less faithful to the actual thing when viewed side on.
  18. Emperors Royal Guards also had cloth capes.
  19. I'm really looking forward to getting the shore trooper. However, if really thought that the helmet was a different mold to the hover tank pilot, but it's clearly the same now.
  20. Hoth looks a bit weird to me, but Bespin looks amazing!
  21. I'm quite surprised they didn't put one on top of the hover tank where the mounted rifle is. I'm also really pleased they didn't stick one of those six-stud shooter things on the at-st chin. I'd convinced myself that's what we'd get.
  22. Picked up the new CMF hiker due to the dual molded legs to try them out on my Bespin Luke, but now I'm not sure. What do people think? With boots or without? All the images I can find do show darker boots, but not this dark.
  23. This is true - my only worry is how stable and rigid it'll all be when closed. I'm wondering if there's a solid place to pick it up and give it a swoosh! On a different topic, just seen Jangs review of the A-wing pilot polybag Anyone know if we'll ever see this released in the uk? It's a brilliant figure!
  24. Really pleased to see the price point on this is lower than expected. Happy with this for a day one purchase. Mind you, the U wing is a fiver more than I thought, so swings and roundabouts!
