Like most people I stocked up on Rogue One sets this Force Friday and was really pleased with them all. However, I soon realised I didn't have anywhere to display my new batch of minifigures, so set about building the imperial bunker briefly glimpsed in the trailers. I adopted a similar approach to the bunker from the battle of Endor, building the main facade and the doorway plus a tiny bit of terrain outside. I also incorporated what I thought would be the main features a genuine set of this sort (i.e. the Takodana set) would include - opening doors, collapsing tower and and a secret compartment to hide the death star plans. It's been dismantled again now due to shelf space, but it was a fun couple of hours of playing around. With a bit of flash to see the interior

Can anyone confirm that there's a current deal at TRU UK for a free FO general polybag? Seen it mentioned on fb but not on the TRU website. -
LEGO Star Wars 2017 Pictures and Rumors

I'm dreading the day the OT x-wing helmet gets updated - that'll be a whole squadron that will need replacing! Biggs, Wedge, Theron - so many to replace! -
Wow - I haven't checked this thread for about a week so it's brilliant to see folk and still enhancing the set! My latest bit of tinkering is the feet, which even with a circular plate weren't doing it for me. I'm not 100% on the molded engine pieces so they may get changed, but the overall shape is much better than the out-of-the-box version to my eyes.

Can I just check... is this still the 2017 rumours thread? This page is about as far off track as it can be! Maybe I'll check back after Christmas... -

Can't believe the sandcrawler and ewok village have both gone 'retiring soon' together - can only feasibly get one! Both brilliant for display, both great minifigures. Decisions decisions! -
LEGO Star Wars 2017 Pictures and Rumors
Richpepperell replied to Stash2Sixx's topic in LEGO Star Wars
It's my current understanding that after episode 8 the release dates of the movies (episode 9 and Han Solo) are currently set for May. I'd guess this will shift the release dates of the sets to give the same run in time. -

I'm looking to do some (Star Wars) polybag trades - is there a suitable thread for this anywhere - moderators please feel free to redirect me! -
I've just moved mine one technic hole lower on the brick and I think it makes a big difference to the look of the legs, The whole thing feels more in proportion now.

LEGO Star Wars 2017 Pictures and Rumors

That would make total sense. I always thought the inclusion of a single officer here was a little bit unusual, but Cassian in disguise would tie in with the disguised Jyn from the bunker set. -

Glad to see at least 6 Deathtroopers - means that multiple BPs will be useful. I was worried they might be such an elite trooper that there would only be a really small number. -
The new Rogue One trailer feature a shot of the At St advancing down a street on Jedha. From the looks of the trailer breakdown shots on jedinews.com, the back portion of the hips seem to really oscillate up and down as the AT ST walks. I'd love to see someone try and work this feature in. I'll be trying a little leg shortening tonight to see how it looks.

Just had a look. They are the empowers legs. Also Luke's hair (ANH and Jedi). I'll be amazed if Han's hair ever comes in stock!

I haven't looked, but does anyone know if any of the minifigure parts from the new Death Star turned up on bricks and pieces?

That's exactly what I thought, but for some reason mine seems to sit higher than yours (and therefore doesn't look as cool!). There is a much larger gap at the side between the roof and the front of the wedge plates. This is due to the 1x2 plate in the centre resting on the LBG cheese wedge. Is you central console modified at all to make it lower (I don't think it as as this would mean the ingot wouldn't been in the right place). Move replaced the cheese slope with a 1x2 tile which seems to do the trick in bringing it down a touch. I also used LBG plates with lip to form the 'sandwich' at the side of the eyes which closed the gap between the roof completely. Thanks for your help!

Loving the eyes here - I feel like you've got them spot on. Any chance of a photo of the underside of the cockpit roof. Mine just doesn't seem to sit as nicely as yours with the changes I've just made. Also, I don't have ANY LBG ingots - I see them being very useful in the future.
-
Last change for today - I think the legs are looking a bit chunky, mainly due to the ankles and the technic bar that connects to the ankle joint tensioners. I've swapped the technic bar for another technic piece (I have no idea what it's proper name is). It doesn't affect the structural integrity of the leg at all but it shaves a bit of the girth of the ankle. Try it with a 2x3 curved slope too and see which you think looks better. I don't have any in LBG but I do like the way the 2x4 curved slope looks.
-
The robot arms inspired me - I'm pretty happy with this, especially from the front.
-
My next job is to add the armour plates to the front of the hips - looking forward to any solutions you have for this cos I've been failing at it for about an hour now!

Finally got round to building mine today and did a few mods immediately - inspired mainly by this thread! I have to say I'm really impressed with the build - it looks fanatastic. Here are a few of my changes: Changed the face as previously discussed but also added the 4x4 modified plate to simulate the design seen on the ones in ROTJ. I really like the look of it. Added the top rail but I've stuck with the original eyelids Chin gun - I thought it was too small - the on screen barrels are much longer. Also added the equipment below the guns which I remember being fairly prominent on my old kenner vehicle. Added the 'plastron shields' (according to my cross-sections book) under the chest plus a bit more greebling to the body and hips. Tried a million variations on the fence-cutting toes but finally settled on this - looks better for real than in the photos. I just wanted something with a gap or clip to simulate the cutters. I haven't touched the interior yet and I feel there'll definitely be more tinkering yet! I really hope this thread continues so we can work towards perfection!

Force Friday (30th September) promotions
Richpepperell replied to Richpepperell's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Got my midnight order through yesterday which I thought was really quick shipping. Got the FO stormtrooper polybag and the Spider-Man polybag too. It's actually got some useful parts. As always, I had zero issues with the S@H site. -
I haven't built the set yet,but I'm wondering if it would be possible to move the 2 2x4 wedge plates on either side of the "face" down 1 stud? This would bring the thin end of the wedge in front of the shooters and either side of the "chin" cannons. I feel this would be more screen accurate but wonder if this would be possible due to the angle of the side walls. A 1x2 plate could then fill in the gap above. In in this area, I also feel the chin cannon is not particularly accurate - I intend doing a bit of work here too!

What do you do with leftover battle packs?
Richpepperell replied to Kimguroo's topic in LEGO Star Wars
I usually build the first pack, then immediately part them out. The stormtrooper battlepack was a great example - all those Bley slope bricks were really useful! -
Those leg's are perfect. I'd already tried a couple of different legs out which were no good. I keep all my TFA minifigures in a separate box so hadn't even thought of Han's legs.

Wow, I hadn'r realised that the new one was that much bigger than the Endor bunker version - I thought they were going to look OK next to each other!
