Same here about the camera. My larger MOCs just won't come out with the equipment I have. -
Epic. The scope and style. The idealized Ancient Greece. My only question is why the Trojan horse? It was built on the shores of Troy out of one of the Greecian's ships. The only logic for it to be in Greece is that it is a reenactment.

Yay. And you have given me a reason to have the TLG rapier. I'm also happy you took to my idea of making that valve reachable.

If you are counting performance, then the Nick Fury is Chi McBride. For an actual Samuel L. Jackson you have to wait until TLG makes a set with Nick based on either the existing Marvel movies or the upcoming movies Captain America: Winter Soldier, Nick Fury or Avengers 2. Speaking of the Ultimates comics, there is a scene on one of the early books that has the Ultimates discussing who would play them if an Ultimates movie were made. Robert Downey Jr. was suggested for Tony Stark. Nick Fury states that he would have to be played by Samuel L. Jackson. It was jokingly suggested that Steve Buscemi should play Bruce Banner. By that logic, all those actors exist as themselves in the Marvel Ultimates universe. To my knowledge Steve Buscemi has never been approached by Marvel for any roll. There are two different Hulk figs. The polybag one is likely the comics version and the maxi-fig is the Avengers movie version played by Mark Ruffalo. Deadpool's look has been pretty consistant throughout the various Marvel universes. I'm not sure of the genesis of the set, but the look of the other figs makes me think it is something from an X-Men or Wolverine comic. Magneto in the set is not Sir Ian McKellen as Fox holds that license, and Magneto would have been in dark red if it had been him. Same goes for Hugh Jackman. If you are talking separate characters, your winner has to be Warrick Davis as he has performed as four characters made into Lego Minifigs. If you are talking number of themes, Warrick Davis ties with Alfred Molina.

The current vote tally has DaMaximus winning right now anyway. I've already ceeded the idea that one of the other two will win. It's your contest Ska, close the vote whenever you feel it is fair to do so. -
^^ I like your World Discovery name for a City sub-theme idea. A theme centered around exposing children to not only the diversity of animal life, but to the wealth of human history and cultures in those areas. This would be a great educational theme targeted to middle grade school (by the American system) aged children who are beginning to be taught Social Studies. Educational play has long been a Lego ideal. This would entail groups of Lego City characters going on nature vacations. This would be a theme that could be played out in waves for years, targeting different regions of the world in succession. The diversity in the various regions of Africa could give this potential theme 2 1/2 to 3 years of sets. These could also be fazed in and out over time like the existing City sub-themes. For an action theme, a group called something like Nature Shield would be tasked with protecting endangered animals. It could be a multi-national group that would have conservationists/scientists/veterinarians as well as a police-like enforcement group. They could be be up against a poacher/smuggler type group or groups. Stop the illegal animal trade. Maybe partner with an orgization like Greenpeace for this. Like a conservationist version of the Alpha Team vs Ogel dynamic. Ecology vs Profiteering would make a good morality for this. If either of these ideas were to be picked up, we could not only see new animals and print variations of existing animals, but also more plant-life pieces and variations. Maybe even incorporating some of the many plant designs made by AFOLs here and elsewhere on the internet.

Top right: I think that's supposed to be SR. No idea what they are. I'll wait to see, rather than speculate. -

Please tell me you didn't Brasso four Kingdoms Joust barding. If you did, why? That printing would have worked. If they were from the Emporer's Stronghold, I understand, but those are about three times as expensive. I can see doing that only if the original printing worn or scratched. There are only four vendors on Bricklink that sell blank black barding. So which way did you go? -
Wonderful. Elegant castellation design. The off-center shield is a little distracting, but there are several easy fixes for that.

In the most recent Dino, Lego introduced the tranq gun. A safari theme would allow the use of that for zoologists on nature preserve parks. There is a CMF Zoologist. It would not take much to create a good theme along those lines. If it goes that way, Lego wouldn't even be restricted to Africa. You could get Jane Goodall types, nature photographers, park rangers and vacationing civillians. If there needs to be a bad guy, Lego could have poachers, but that could be problematic. Without a baddy to fight, a Nature Preserves theme could be a continuing part of World City. This would be a boon to those who want more System animals. Duplo actually has a zoo, so why can't System have nature preserves? Big cats are one of the areas that Lego has never really explored in System.

I also thought of Boudicca, but her hair was orange. I do see the Xena resemblance, though it is closer to the first version of her costume. The shield I have a use for, since my Nestlands characters need more eagle emblems.- 1,076 replies

LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 10 Discussion

Am I the only one to think the Motorcycle Mechanic's face looks like Magnum P.I., or some 70's adult film actor? I'd get him for the tattoo for one of my Pirates figs, but that head may end up on some space station police. Skydiver and Paintball Player are also good for Sci-Fi. There are a bunch of other things I could say, but my least likes have to be the Baseball Fielder followed by the Grandpa. I don't count the gold fig. If by some miracle I come across one, I'll offer it up for a reasonable trade deal.- 1,076 replies

@Steebles1908: Coming along nicely. I like the dark red lines. It gives the build a Cold War institutional feel. @rongYIREN: You can add levers as antenna recievers to the dishes on the sides of the head to pump up the sci-fi-ness of the build. I would also suggest, if you do a practical build, to change as many of the light bley pieces as you can to flat silver, metallic silver or pearl light grey. I know the LDD metallic silver colors are not very distinguishable from the LDD grey.

I was just going to do Victor face down in a pool of blood. I have the black wizard's hat, and a cape that will work. With those, a standard beard, yellow head, and black torso and pants, I'll have my Victor. I may buy the parts for his brother, though (from Ecc's story about the Jarl going missing). He doesn't cost that much. I buy Gimli, I'll have the 'magic helmet' too. -
The overall shape of this makes me think it could have been made by the manufacturer of the Red Dwarf. It has that clunky, large deep-space mining vessel feel. Good good good.

This (http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=92083) is your best hair for Daphne. This (http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=3626bpb046) is the only head I know with a goatee without a mustashe, for Shaggy.

@Steebles1908: Promising. My only nit-pick is that the tanks, or more accurately their valve, should be reachable by a minifig scientist.

LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 11 Rumours & Discussion
gedren_y replied to CM4Sci's topic in Special LEGO Themes
I haven't seen anyone mention this: the CMF Tiki should have either the classic Islanders' helmet in dark brown or a similar mold with different connections points. It will be among my chase figs. An African warrior would be welcome, with the classic shield with handhold cut-out. A recolor of the Star Wars/Galaxy Squad shield would work. Now I'm thinking of Levar Burton in his roll as Kunta Kinte. -

Nicely executed. I think the door isn't out of scale, just dwarf sized. As 3/5ths of your troupe are dwarves, it seems appropriate. -

Are you continuing what began in the Mitgardia thread? If so, I have some old poetry I could share. I don't think I have any on coinage though. Or shall the Kaliphlin bards sing the tale of Avalonian ire, Lords of the Coinpurse? -
Nice, but I wonder if this should go in the Historical section.

LEGO Collectible Minifigures Golden Minifigure Discussion
gedren_y replied to TrumpetKing's topic in Special LEGO Themes
As I buy for my building interests, a gold minifig would only suit as a statue. No other practical use, and for me Lego is all about use. If I end up with one (exceedingly unlikely) I'd probably offer it up in trade, as market value would change as more are found. I have no interest in opening a store to sell one potentially valuable (to someone, not me) minifig. The comparrison to MtG foil and limited eddition cards is a bit of a stretch, as these were more plentiful than many people realized. I was in to MtG for a while, but lost interest with no other players in my area. I still have my foil Foil card though. That was a happy find, but I don't see it as an investment.- 87 replies
