  1. The Kaliphlin have the full range. The people of the Nestlands are mostly light flesh.
  2. I'm a parts buyer, not a set builder, so the design of the siege weapons means very little. The wheels on the catapaults are actually better than the dwarf battle wagon from the previous Castle. These do not have the technic holes, and the lion faction's catapault has brown wheels useful for trees. No, I won't buy these sets to keep as is, but the parts will go a long way to building realistic minifig scale castles. There are tons of nice parts, and the heraldry for the lions is more akin to Royal Knights than to KKI, which I like. The dragon faction does look a little like the bull faction of KKI, but without the limited characters. Their shield design would have been better if the shields were black with just the red printing. I spied the new short sword in the pics, resize them to the original to see it.
  3. What's all this complaining? Too few new pieces? Am I the only one to notice the new facet brick, 4x4? I have been wondering when TLG would get around to making that piece. Here's hoping they give us back the 5x5. The heraldry works for me, with a new cloth flag shape. Plus dark bley 2x2x3 corner slopes, and at least seven octagonal plates in that color. That ladder appears to be a single piece, not fence pieces. The figs are awesome, with lots of customizing potential. Also, the King is holding a pearl gold pointed greatsword. I spy at least one of the baddies with a pearl dark grey one too. This is a buy for me. Good thing this will be out in August, plenty of time to save up the money.
  4. I just ordered this along with Eris' Interceptor and two CMFs (to get Ewar). I was already anticipating it, but now I know what to expect. Thanks.
  5. I have most of my Kaliphlin mini-challenge build done. I just have set dressing and character decisions to make. It will be set near Gurree Spring, with a tie-in to the Challenge V idea of magical sites being safe havens. Next week I should have a small build sending Squire Greisun back to Mpya Stedor. I still have the breakdown of NOMEA to do, so parts will be more available. Note from Aturl Prndrn, Minister of External Affairs: The imposter carrying Sir Barold's weapon and helmet has been detained. His effects have been turned over to the centaur guard accompanying the herbologists. The clothing and shield turned out to be fake. How he accomplished disguising himself as Sir Barold so thoroughly is still a mystery. We can dispense with him here, or return him to Lord Sansael for prosecution. I also have to purchase some paint for my Nocturnian characters. My local Ace store carries Krylon Fusion cans that are a good match for some Lego colors.
  6. Woah. I am a big fan of the Babylon 5 series. I have always wanted to do a Lego Babylon 5 build, but I was focused on figs and ships. This is probably as close as you can get in Lego. Is it on a movable framework? If it is, this should get to a convention somewhere. Mega-Con is just around the corner, here.
  7. @A Plastic Infinity: I would suggest acquiring some light yellow and medium orange pieces for your project to vary the color of your travertine. Also, there are some nice printed pieces from the Adventurers: Orient Expedition line. Is it supposed to be Dinotopia? If so, then it would qualify as Sci-Fi. @Steebles1908: Your heavy cruiser could use some mild recoloring to make it more imposing. Maybe change the back three jumper plates to dark red, or change the 1x3 tile to red. The white one is perfect the way it is.
  8. Quite excellent. It is from this sticker sheet: http://www.bricklink...asp?P=6868stk01 I believe it is supposed to be Galaga(sp?), as Tony Stark notices a SHIELD crewmember playing it in The Avengers. I am really glad I have the blu-ray combo pack. Oh, and you also mean MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imager).
  9. I'm making a face-down, dead Victor, bloody and beaten. That's how I solve the problem. I don't even need the Gimli helmet for my scene.
  10. Above the desert surface of the planet Libbicos float many giant rocks. Upon those rocks many cities have been built. Augerton is one of those cities. 11. It took me quite a while to figure out the door set up. Mostly because the doors I am using are a little more than a half plate out of line with the bricks surrounding it. The large windows I actually had built for a different MOC, but I had to scrap it. Yes, Cobalt Vale is a brightly painted place. Lots of metals too. If someone wants to do a building here, just make it colorful, and remember that most of the citizenry are fleshies. There is an active market, though, so feel free to have characters from throughout Historica show up. Just be sure to read up about the Nestlands in my entry post here: http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=62115&st=1150#entry1293954 Answered:
  12. Wow, epic scale. I had wanted to so a scene sending the Mpya Stedor Trade Contingent back with some Nestlands characters, but you beat me to creating the battle. Maybe I'll do a scene with them on the road home, picking off some enemy that ran from the battle. I was going to send the fleshmage Neord Bloodmane, but looks like you don't need him. His head is expensive if you don't have it, anyway. I will send some other Nestlands characters, though, ones that will be easier to recreate with any fleshies you might have on hand.
  13. Mine is finished, but photography has to wait for the return of my backdrop. Hopefully I will be able to post tomorrow.
  14. I was never able to purchase the Fantasy Era dragons. I have the Hungarian Horntail and from Vikings I got two of the small wyverns. This time I should be able to get this type of dragon, but may mod it with Dino Attack/2010 parts. I'm also considering Galidor parts for a mostly brick built dragon.
  15. Thank you, all. This has been something I've been thinking about for some time. Using pieces that were never intended to be plants as plants, to expand the variety of foliage in builds. This particular project began when I found the Aurra Sing hair in the LDD. I also found that if you turn it upside-down, and color it a light green, it makes a good underwater seaweed. The water is actually the more conventional trans-green over dark green, but the LDD trans-green doesn't really match the real world look of the color. In a few places the water overlaps what is supposed to be sand or stone. It is such a pitty that TLG doesn't produce most of these things in plant colors. Maybe I'll make something for CuuSoo with some of my plant designs. If I do, I probably should use mostly pieces that are currently still produced.
  16. One point, EB's filter gets the word wrong. There is no 'c' in Megabloks. I spent half an hour at work one day filtering out the todler size Megabloks from a bunch of donated children's toys.
  17. I finally posted my LDD build, Gurree Spring, here: http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=78643 Enjoy. gedren_y
  18. In the early days of the Nestlands settlement, Durhal Gurree was tasked with finding fresh water northwest of Nod Nol. What he found was a ruined temple complex, ancient even in that time. At the center of that complex was a spring, teeming with plant life, watched over by single remaining statue. Gurree Spring 1 by gedren_y, on Flickr When Durhal tasted the water, he found it bitter and metalic, like most of the ground water of the area. The plants, though, would prove useful to the future of the Clans. The samples he brought back to the center settlement (later known as Cobalt Vale) were found to have many applications, from medicine to to dyes to eventually food. Gurree Spring 2 by gedren_y, on Flickr The spring was named for Durhal, and is still visited today by clansmembers gathering local flora. 19. Yes, Rambo circa First Blood. Mitgardia certainly could use some more clan characters. The Nestlands Clans of the Armored Eagle Goddess originated in the lands that are now Mitgardia aproximatly 2200 years ago.
  20. A perfectly Kaliphlin beach house. It's from Legends of Chima. Was the tree trunk made with the axle hole version of the barrel half with a 3mm hose? Also, nice part use with the pith helmet.
  21. Woah, Gabe, welcome back. I actually saw this on Brothers Brick, but didn't read the caption. Did you recycle your Challenge 3 island for this? Good to see Erudhalion Sansael back, but sailing a ship without a name can be hazardous. May I suggest that she be the Grand Adventure.
  22. According to the rules, the animal must be listed as an animal by bricklink: Lotso is.
  23. Are you sure you selected BBCode? Also I would suggest using the Medium 640 pic size, as most forums prefer that for Flickr image links. For my own build, I just finished my rockwork today. Tomorrow I will be working on the top and base. Hopefully photography will be some time Thursday afternoon.
  24. I have some more pics of the build up on the flickr page starting here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/53412428@N02/8407034314/in/set-72157632537151387 And some more fig pics: Minister of External Affairs Aturl Prndrn by gedren_y, on Flickr Our good Minister of External Affairs armed for a fight. Captain Ahmnatt Sanib by gedren_y, on Flickr The good Captain Ahmnatt Sanib, Officer of the Court of Petraea. Rumor has it he has been promoted to Major and has commissioned new armor. Squire Greisun hat detail by gedren_y, on Flickr A good look at how Squire Greisun wears his head/hat band. Andrius Hierre by gedren_y, on Flickr Ivonova's father, Andrius Hierre. He is a principal backer in a Mitgardian shipping fleet, with the authority to sign trade deals. What company would that be? Any thoughts? Avalonian 1b by gedren_y, on Flickr Avalonian 2b by gedren_y, on Flickr A better look at the Avalonians. Look, even their swords are green, dark olive green to be specific. That's all I have for now.
  25. Sdair Zuuree says, "Uhgh alcohol! But if you drink, the Nestlands Clans make blue mead and schwipper spirits. Both will get you riotously drunk in time, but schwipper spirits won't leave you with a hangover in the morning." Ska: gabe hasn't been here since Oct. 14. His presence has been missed.
