  1. I buy CMFs for parts. Most of the figures have multiple uses if you break them apart. I want that Gingerbread Man head to grace the table of one of my MOCs. I may have to wait and BL my wants due to budget issues.
  2. I know where they are from. The torso is from this minifig. The legs are from this minifig.
  3. Wait! Do you mean the Greater Florida LUG? You live near them? Lucky! I live too far away to have regular transport for the required meetings (I don't drive). I would join if circumstances allowed it. My Lego budget for the rest of the year has just been nearly decimated due to replacing our air conditioner. Florida in the summer, had to have it.
  4. Nice and organized. Good shield designs, though for printing you'd probably be better off with decal printing sheets. I would try your local office supply store. I am wondering where Squire Rikhard 'Redbird' Greisun would be in the troops, though.
  5. Wasn't the Vasa the highly elaborate ship that sank minutes after it's launching? I seem to remember a storyline in the comic strip Get Fuzzy about a model of that ship.
  6. Cobalt Vale by gedren_y, on Flickr Map of Nestlands by gedren_y, on Flickr Cobalt Vale: Mayor: Padrig MacOnnis Principal Places: High Ministry Council Building: Grand building where the High Ministry of the Nestlands Clans meet (usually once a fortnight), public trials are held, marriages are performed and holy day feasts are held. Nestlands Office of the Minister of External Affairs: Where all diplomatic, trade and external legal matters are carried out. The current Minister of External Affairs is Aturl Prndrn. Minister of External Affairs Aturl Prndrn by gedren_y, on Flickr Cobalt Vale Grand Marketplace: Principal place where the wares of the greater Nestlands Clans area are sold. Gold, silver, gems and trade goods are welcome. Open to all Historica citizens. Shrine to the Armored Eagle Goddess: Place of worship and reflection. Visitors please be respectful.
  7. All hail the conquering hero!
  8. @ Those Male Lego Maniacs in Relationships: Large romantic gestures should help a great deal. If she has no interest in Lego, make no Lego plans around holidays, birthdays (yours or hers), and any anniversary of the relationship. If she likes you well enough, she may have/do something Lego for your birthday, but it has to be her idea. If a Lego convention is held on a set of dates that are safe, arrange something for her that she will like while you are away. Make sure you budget enough that she feels that her interests are given equal consideration with yours. Bring something back that will not remind her of the reason for your absence. Take pictures of things other than Lego. Be careful of how much Lego you bring back as well. If you are lucky enough to have someone who will go with you to conventions, plan non-Lego activities as well. When you are alone together, be romantic. Make sure it's her idea of romance first, though. I know that what I'm suggesting is a lot of effort, but healthy relationships take effort.
  9. At least for the US, Kingdoms isn't gone. Kingdoms Joust and Kingdoms Chess Set are still available.
  10. gedren_y hasn't the drive for administrative duties. Sdair Zuuree is the personal guardsman for the Minister of External Affairs, Aturl Prndrn. Minister Prndrn will gladly offer the Nesltands Clans' positions on trade and governance to a Kaliphlin Council of Trade Lords. We haven't the need for much influence beyond trade deals for our goods, so an actual seat is not necessary. Either of our major trade partners, Lord Damaximus or Lord Erudhalion Sansael, will be welcome representatives.
  11. Looks like the Clans of the Armored Eagle Goddess diminished the genepool when they left 2200 years ago.
  12. @Nightstalker: Or you could simply not enter the challenges in the guild you don't want to build in. The guild points should probably just start over, if it is agreed that the system stays. The Challenge guild points allotments would probably have to change, but the freebuild allotments probably could be left as they are. This is all contingent on having someone to do the scoring. Would this be the core group? Would they be able to commit the time and effort? Could the amounts awarded and how be made more transparent? As for the Nestlands: Sdair Zuuree says that the Minister is compiling a chronicle of the Nestlands' attempt at ending the Victor Revolword threat. There is talk of mounting a new quest to find the Egg of the Armored Eagle Goddess. Sdair hopes to be released from the Minister's service to join the quest. Minister Aturl Prndrn plans to make his trip to Petraea to meet with the major trading companies some time in the fall. Fleshmage Neord Bloodmane is to be appointed as the Nestlands Ambassador to Nocturnus as soon as the new leadership is determined. Several of the Nocturnian werewolves trading in Cobalt Vale have offered to help him set up his embassy. Icemaiden Ryssa Kend is planning a trip to Berigora. Escorting the false Peregrinus Causeway guard captain to face formal charges is a duty she will gladly perform. Sdair is still awaiting the return of his brothers from Mpya Stedor. There is also an enshrining ceremony for the armor of the Ghuin Nol High Guard fallen at the Battle of Queenscross. The High Ministry is expected to be in attendance.
  13. My local Target splits Lego by genre, and the Wal-Mart down the road from it doesn't get much in the way of Lego. There are two other Wal-Mart stores and a Sam's Club in Gainesville, but they are a bit of a stretch for me and they sell out of Lego real quickly. Since Lego Shop At Home now has free shipping for orders over $75 (US) and Google Chrome makes the site work correctly, I'll probably be using it from now on. I may go to Target from time to time for Collectable Minifigs (no TRU mark up), but my major shopping will be SAH. I have now built Gatehouse Raid (minus the stickers) and find it to be nicely detailed, but will be dismantling it soon (along with an MOC and Council of Elrond) for some future MOCs.
  14. Minister of External Affairs Aturl Prndrn speaks for the Nestlands Clans High Ministry on external matters. He is the one who hammered out the trade deals with the Mpya Stedor and Berigora representatives, as well as a Mitgardian shipping contract.
  15. I opened my Gatehouse Raid set and found two extra sticker sheets. Is this a common occurrence or a happy accident?
  16. I should be ordering the Gatehouse online Tuesday. USA Lego Online has two promotions right now, and I'll be taking advantage of both.
  17. It's surprising how well the old Adventurers Orient torsos work with the newer parts.
  18. I buy for MOCs, so the actual theme doesn't really matter to me much. I bought Alien Conquest and Pharaohs Quest for my historical/fantasy builds because they had parts that seemed useful. The same goes for Legends of Chima and Ninjago. The parts that won't work will be shunted to other purposes. This theme has so many parts that will go towards some major builds, and a particular new part that I have been wanting for a long time: the 4x4 facet brick. When my funds become available, I will buy. I generally have little use for TLG set designs, and even less use for TLG interpretations of existing intellectual property. The castle set is better designed than most IMO, but still falls short of what I know a true castle to be. I'm a serious history buff, so it matters to me. These sets are designed for action play, and they meet that benchmark well. Far better than the first wave of Kingdoms ever did.
  19. Those are made with Brickforge splats, Brickarms HEDP Warheads (from the MAAWS), 1x1 round bricks and 3mm bars. There are a lot of Brickforge and Brickarms pieces in this build. I believe both companies have vendors in Europe.
  20. The plants were the real focus of the build. I had so many ideas. The wood piece was an early roof replacement idea. The build had so many false starts, rebuilds and delays that I wondered if I'd ever get it finished. My intent was subtropical valley, but it does seem a little swampy. Yes, I used five TLG green colors and one non-TLG green (one Brickarms piece). Thank you to everyone who's been so patient me and my build schedule. I hope my plant ideas have inspired other builders to expand their plants parts palate.
  21. The reason I say Fantasy Era 2 is that Fantasy Era was labeled 'Castle' on its packaging and used the crown symbol. The lion symbol this time is closest to Royal Knights, the face of which was re-used (badly) for KKI.
  22. After a long wait Visiting Herbologists is finally up. Now I need to go to sleep.
  23. In the Historica timeline these events happened between NOMEA and Battle at the Ruins of Mehd. ________________________________________________________________________________ After the arrest of the Peregrinus imposter, the Herbologists from Berigora were finally able to meet with Seshii Lahgnseid, Mistress of Herb Lore in the Nestlands. Seshii was about to go on an extended gathering trek, and was more than willing to take the three most experienced of the group along. The trek would take Seshii, Dandin Hep, Gordan Windhoof and Tara Piffle from Cobalt Vale northwest around Nod Nol, then east to the base of Ghuin Nol, and finally south to Seshii's home. This is where we find them. ________________________________________________________________________________ VHOA by gedren_y, on Flickr VHGA1 by gedren_y, on Flickr VHGA2 by gedren_y, on Flickr Seshii (brown hair), Dandin (purple hair), Tara (pink hair girl) and Gordan (centaur) make their way to the south side of Seshii's home see her elixir distillery. 24. Visiting Herbologists should be done and photographed tomorrow. At 48x64 it is my largest GOH build to date. I'll have to acquaint myself with the new Flickr sharing set-up. Hopefully I can get it posted in time to be credited to GOH Book 1. Anticlimax will have to be part of Book 2, and will be posted in parts.
