Some people assume that castles didn't have color. Don't. Some people assume that castle builders are looking to build medieval Europe. Don't. I do find that dragon a bit colorful, but I'm completely willing to paint it. I say again, the big draw for me are the new parts and colors for existing parts. Bricklink has yet to give this incarnation a sub-group name. I still say it should be called Fantasy Era 2.

Masa just got blogged on TBB too. I see more Kaliphlin members coming soon. -
Finally a realistic pine tree. Posted this on the tree tutorial page for you.

Guilds of Historica builder Ecclesiastes gives us a new pine tree. Pretty cool.

One issue I have is that Stonehenge (not really a henge btw) is from the Neolithic era and Boudicca lived during the reigns of the Roman Emperors Claudius and Nero. There is a span of millennia in between. If you wish to do Stonehenge, you should have Neolithic figures worshiping or feasting. This was a place of pilgrimage, not a settlement. If you wish to do Boudicca, you should have her and some Celtic warriors facing off with Roman soldiers. She rallied guerilla forces (totaling in the thousands) against Roman cities in Brittan. Camulodunum, Colchester and Londinium fell to the Celts during this period.

West Inner Mpya Stedor in a Celebration Time!
gedren_y replied to Maxim I's topic in Guilds of Historica
Wahl had his hair colored before he left for Mpya Stedor, but he must have got the cut from Lord DaMaximus' barber. I wonder if the archers of the Wall Guard had something to do with this. Lohp seems to be wearing some new armor. Did his previous armor get too damaged at Cedrica? Squire Rikhard 'Redbird' Greisun seems to be enjoying himself at the gaming tables. At least I think that's him.- 43 replies

End of June is too soon. There's the transition of GoH leadership to consider. End of July or mid August would work for me. Most of us have end of chapter builds in progress. If the elementals are gone with the end of Revolword, then a trade route city build would be a good Kaliphlin Guild challenge for the beginning of Book 2. It would also help attract new builders to our guild. -
Think, before you get rid of your Star Wars sets, about the parts they consist of. Figures can be taken apart, and most of them can be adapted for GOH. Fleshies are useful here, as are some of the more exotic colored figs. Just because the sets came as Star Wars doesn't mean you have to use them as Star Wars.

I like Gideon's idea of an old fortification (in somewhat disrepair) repurposed, with a later haphazardly constructed city. You've got me thinking of the R.A. Salvatore novel The Halfling's Gem (Forgotten Realms). I've got to re-read that. If we go with this, the old fort should have an older name (e.g. Khasim's Fall), but the town should have a later name (e.g. Far Haven). The town shouldn't have a regular plan, but built as people moved into the area. Most structures would be built of mud-brick, limestone, or sandstone, but desert people would also use tents. They could be brightly colored as the Kaliphlin have great paints (thanks to the Nestlands Clans). -
Are you a purist? If not, then I would suggest you check out altbricks.com for a diverse range of plant parts. Many of the other aftermarket retailers have items that can be used as plants in the right context. Bricklink is still the best used and new Lego online retail market. Ebay has had some fraud issues, where the seller uses your information to steal from TLG (a form of identity theft).

If I remember correctly, there is a campsite not far from there that was ravaged by four elementals (my Ch. 4) called Behduri. Damaximus is right, the Nestlands are south of Qarkyr. By mountain path, the closest large city is Mpya Stedor. There is a small settlement on the southern side of Dun Nol that isn't Clan, but they have kept to themselves. -
Cool build. So cool it's icy. My only issue with it is the name. Is there supposed to be a river nearby?

Sorry Damaximus, but Sdair isn't one of the brothers in Mpya Stedor. They would be Wahl and Lohp Zuuree, Sdair's younger twin brothers. With them came an unnamed Mountain Mummy and Kynkayd Hernbolnd, but they may have already left the city. -

Not a challenge, but a promise to defend the lands we hold sacred. "The Goddess will return in the Nest of Metals." - Prophet Hlroberidth of the Small Rock Yes, our werewolf trade partners often bring mountain cat carcasses as currency. -

I am very happy with my tag. I like silver over gold. It also represents the coloring of the Petraea City Guard. Edit: Oooh! A Kaliphlin is the first on page 100! -

There are Avalonians, Nocturnians, Mitgardians and other Kaliphlin trading in Cobalt Vale this day. They all are managing peaceful discourse. They do this because they know that the Nestlands Clans of the Armored Eagle Goddess have no problem with feeding their bodies to the birds, or raising their dead to service us. Be mindful Black Falcons of Nocturnus, while we will not kill your birds, we will kill your bird masters if you come against us. We support Dextrus Flagg, and he says trade. We will sell you arms and armor for your battles as long as you keep them from our borders. -

I'll try to have a small scene sending some Nestlands 'drink'. Won't have Sdair (doesn't drink) or the Minister, though. They will be in Anticlimax, and miss the party. I could send Durgen. He likes the 'drink'. -

And that happens to be one of the Mountain Mummies that is a trade partner of the Nestlands Clans. When are we going to see Mpya Stedor have it's post Revolword bash? Maybe we should have a great desert race (think Hidalgo). -

Well there is the Aztec version (though sometimes that was played with a human head). Eastgate would probably be the best place for a sports tourney in Kaliphlin. I'm just miffed that my local sports channels won't be carrying the USA vs. Jamaica World Cup Qualifier on Friday. -

Agreed, our Guildleader should stay, but he does need help. We need to figure out how that is going to work soon. Due to RL issues I haven't been able to do any appreciable building in the last two weeks, and I may loose my current building space next weekend. Because of this my Anticlimax story is on hold until official Ch 6 cannon voting is done. Visiting Herbologists is nearly complete (landscaping has been a *****), but parts issues have made me change some of the planned story. @Damaximus: I believe my primary characters are made of parts that are prohibitively expensive. The ones that are known to have traveled to Mpya Stedor shouldn't be, though. -

I see all these ideas about the future of GOH. I like pieces of them all, but Z's proposal seems to be the most viable. Because of EB Board Rules, we need actual EB officials to run prize challenges. Ska's issue seems to be about the decision making process. Maybe we need a little transparency about how the leaders (whomever takes over) come to the decisions that they do. Most of us only get to see the final decision, and don't get to see that the leaders have actually considered our suggestions. On to character stuff: From the desk of Aturl Prndrn, Minister of External Affairs: Rumors of a coming war in Nocturnus puts the Nestlands Clans on high alert. The Drow Rebellion (now aborted) made many uneasy. Our mineral wealth and close proximity make us a potentially profitable target. Economic and defense treaties have been signed now, though, and our position is less tenuous. Any internal Nocturnus feuds that spill into the Nestlands will be met with force to both sides. If Nocturnian citizens bring their fight here, they will have an enemy on two fronts. -

Yesterday I tried to use a link to Flickr and got a "page cannot be displayed" screen. I had to re-click the link twice before it would work. It may have been because I was on Brothers Brick and the link may have existed before the Flickr change.
