  1. I have a mix of things. I use sorting boxes (craft/tool/fishing/pill), crayon/marker boxes (bulk type), a couple different baby wipe containers (more useful than you'd think), a few advent set trays, some standard cardboard boxes, two large Sterilite boxes, some TLG containers (bulk brick, bionicle, x-pod and creator), and many plastic Ziploc-type bags. I'm probably forgetting a few, but that covers most of them.
  2. Winner, winner, chicken dinner. Congrats. You had my vote.
  3. Congrats to all the real winners. Thanks to the EB staff for the great contests. Thanks to the 'number generating droids' for picking me.
  4. In the Dragon Mountain set, I spied the chrome gold bars. Given that the bars are represented on the box art, I would expect to see one of these in at least three of the five sets. I see no chest in Gatehouse Raid and the box art of Forest Ambush leads me to believe the gold in that set is pearl gold.
  5. Here it is: http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=79546 Enjoy. gedren_y
  6. Squire Rikhard 'Redbird' Greisun was anxious to return to Mpya Stedor, but preparations for the journey took longer than expected. Fresh horses had to be arranged, as well as calls for volunteers to escort the Mpya Stedor contingent through the mountains (a faster route than the trade road). The Zuuree twins, Wahl and Lohp, joined representing the Cobalt Vale City Guards. From Vesw Nol, the first mountain they'd have to traverse, came Kynkayd Hernbolnd. Rounding out the troupe, a Mountain Mummy committed to the journey by Namses Setesh. With their knowledge of the area, the trip through the mountains went by with the speed Rikhard was hoping for. When the group came within spyglass sight of the Ruins of Mehd, the Squire stopped to scan the site for places of potential ambush. He spotted a small group of skeleton soldiers moving around in the southern end of the ruins. He ordered everyone to dismount, and the horses to be tethered under a near-by outcropping. A battle plan was quickly drawn, and their advance on the ruins began. It took Squire Greisun's enchanted spear, thrown like a javelin, to dispatch him.) The battle was short, but draining. No casualties, but several had wounds that needed cleansing before they could deal with the enemies' remains. Rikhard retrieved his spyglass, and a wyrm bone to give to Lord Damaximus. The enemies' bodies were moved away from the ruins and burned, along with their weapons and armor. With this done, they returned to their horses and camped for the evening. It would be another three day trek to reach Mpya Stedor. ------------------------------------------------------------ I have some bad overview shots (I hate this camera) to give you a sense of the layout. http://www.flickr.co...57632750120251/ http://www.flickr.co...57632750120251/ http://www.flickr.co...57632750120251/ http://www.flickr.co...57632750120251/ http://www.flickr.co...57632750120251/ ----------------------------------------------------------- Hopefully Lord Damaximus will give these warriors a rousing reception.
  7. I will probably be photographing my latest build tomorrow. DaMaximus be sure to not offer the Nestlands warriors any birds to eat.
  8. Red eyed baddies, wizard and dragon. I've posted it before, I post it again, this looks like it is Fantasy Era 2. <edit> German Toy Fair: Eyes look red. New York Toy Fair: Eyes normal.
  9. Looks like the new castle gives us the new 3x3 plate in dark bley, and it does appear to be somewhat modular. The Forest Ambush doesn't look as bad as expected, as that wedge plate in green will do me some good. The Dragon is actually capable of holding a treasure chest? It's hard to tell, is that spider and web in dark tan?
  10. The snake is in the bamboo under the half barrel of gold and silver rocks. Nice scene.
  11. As a teetotaler, I don't care who has the best beer, but chocolate is another story. Are we just talking about sweet chocolate, or can I mention spicy Mexican chocolate? The original chokalotl drink was spicy, not sweet. It was the Europeans that added sugar. I have been known to eat a bar of semi-sweet chocolate with spicy chips. Who has the best citrus chocolate?
  12. LCC has too many rules for me. I don't know if they still require it, but LCC has this rule that you have to have your group's flag colors flying somewhere in each build. Many build a thick base and attatch the flags there. IMHO, this detracts from the scenes.
  13. There are several customizers over at the Brickarms forum who mod them with body wear and weapons parts. They get really detailed. These are for those who have no problem with cutting Lego for a specific look. One of them even turns the basic male hair into short mowhawks.
  14. @ SK: You'll be right in my area. I live in Archer, about 12 miles south-west of Gainesville. Here's the skinny on the Lego buying opportunities. There are three Walmarts in Gainesville: one standard on Archer Road, one Supercenter on 13th street next to Sam's Club and another Supercenter (larger than the other) on the northern end towards the fairgrounds. All carry Lego on dedicated isles (except games and books), though the restock tends to lag. They sometimes get polybags. There is one Target on Archer Road (further south than Walmart). They carry CMFs, but spread out the Lego by theme. For Super Heros or CMFs you have to go down the action figure isle. Star Wars usually has half of one side of an isle, shared with an action theme and Hero Factory; with City, bulk brick and duplo across the isle. The tend to keep Kre-O and Megablocks on the same side as City, but keep the Mario figs (K-Nex) with the action figures. Friends is in the doll section. Games are obviously kept on the games isle, perpendicular to all the other isles. Books are in the children's book section. Sometimes you can find special Target branded lego sets (usually the dog) near the front counters or gift-wrapping/card section. Post Valentines, you might be able to find some. Also on Archer Road, near Target, is Barnes & Noble. They usually have Architecture and licensed lego, but occasionally carry the current Space theme (usually behind the counter, ask). They also carry a some of the books, with figs or Brickmaster. They also carry Brickjournal. Another Archer Road spot is a little outside Gainesville, Hobbytown USA. They carry some Lego, mostly Duplo, but occasionally they'll have some of the other lines. They carry the Warhammer gaming figurines and accessories. I know some people use these for custom fig accessories. You can probably get good advice on painting ABS and buy what you need there. Hardcore customizers' dream. Florida Bookstore, of which there are two (one on campus and one on 13th street) carry some Lego. I haven't been there in quite a while, but their staff are willing to help you find what you need. On Newberry Road, there is a K Mart that has a dedicated spot for Lego (except games and books). Their selection can be a bit sparse, but they get some Creator sets that Walmart doesn't. Also on Newberry Road is TRU. It is at the back end of the second half of the Oaks Mall (up the hill). They usually have all the current range (except Target exclusives) and have two Lego dedicated sections across the store from one another. They also have the big promotions. The big drawback is MARK-UP! At least 10%, maybe more. Further east on Newberry Road is Books-A-Million. Most of their Lego can be found in the Children's section. Usually licensed, some Duplo and some of the instruction books. You can also find the educational Technic here. Check the bargain's section for Lego, sometimes marked 60% off MSRP. They also get some Target dedicated sets off season. Publix, of which there are at least four in and around Gainesville, sometimes have small sets, but this is rare. If you are in there, look, but don't expect. Of all the places to buy Lego in Gainesville: Walmart, Target and K Mart have prices often just below TLG's Shop-at-Home. From $0.01 to $0.04 less. This may not seem like much, but if you buy in bulk it adds up. They also have more sales on Lego in the off-season. Plus no shipping, unless you don't have room in your suitcases for Lego on your return trip. If you do have to ship it home, remember USPS does not add tax to your shipping costs, TLG does. (Space bags can be wonderful things.) Hope this helps you the planning for your trip.
  15. That was some quick work. What part of Florida: Panhandle, North, North-Central, Central, South-Central, South or Keys? I'm in North-Central. We've got sunny skies today.
  16. The Kingdoms lion footsoldier does work, I have used it to my satisfaction. This torso (http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=973pb468c01) can be used under pearl dark grey or speckle black-silver euro armor with dark green arms and legs. The buckle showing even lends a nice detail. I also have been wondering if this torso (http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=973pb701c01) would work for a GoH faction.
  17. I have The Battle at the Ruins of Mehd finished. It's why Squire Greisun's return to Mpya Stedor was delayed. I just have to wait to photograph it, because of work tomorrow. Wahl and Lohp Zuuree along with Kynkayd Hernbolnd and a Mountain Mummy are with him. The small force of skellies will be no match for the warriors of the Kaliphlin.
  18. I'm going to guess the northern bridge and gate of Cedrica.
  19. Ah, I remember Safeway. Haven't seen one here in my part of Florida in ten years. Grocerey stores, alcohol and cheese, all because a Kiwi poked fun at a Yank's idiom. Back to GoH: The Nestlands have blue mead, it is a local derivation based on a mead produced in Mitgardia 2200 years ago. The Clans of the Armored Eagle Goddess brought with them all their food and drink secrets when they emmigrated. Mitgardians visiting the Nestlands today should find the food familliar yet distinctive. Lady Ivonova Hierre has enjoyed our fare.
  20. So, that's why I've never liked French cheeses, I don't drink alcohol.
  21. What's hard to get here is Mozzerella de Buffola. That's what you need to make real Pizza Marguerita. I'm the cook of the household, but the people I live with are cheese philistines. Lego philistines too.
  22. Yeah, Brickington, Kiwis'll do that to ya. kabel, most cheap 'American cheese' is processed cheese-like product. If you want a good American cheese you can't skimp. I have a fondness for Colby-Jack cheese.
  23. Kia, I believe the letter from Dugal was supposed to have been written before this battle. It's about what to do in the event of his demise. The build as it stands works for where and what it is supposed to be. Yes, Altbricks aren't an exact match to Lego, but then if they were a law suit might be the result. Lego patents its designs, so some small deviation is neccessary.
  24. This week I should have a small build of Squire Greisun on his return to Mpya Stedor. A few of Lloth's minions still linger on the route between Cobalt Vale and Mpya Stedor, and the Squire has taken the time to dispatch as many as he can. He is also bringing word that the Mitgardian Lord will travel to Berigora with the Peregrinus emmissary, to be picked up there when his ship next makes port there. Sdair's brothers will be in group of Cobalt Vale City Guards accompanying him.
  25. Note from Aturl Prndrn, Minister of External Affairs There are a handful of Nocturnians in Cobalt Vale. The Guin Nol High Guard watch all outsiders, and the City Guard are on full alert these days, so we don't think they will try anything. The Nocturnians have been good with trading mountain cat and mountain goat carcasses. One even brought a few dragon pieces, bones and scales with very little flesh. Sdair says to mention that the bit of dragon meat he had was quite tasty fried. The Avalonains visiting started some trash talk, but that was quieted shortly, with a little insistance by our Fleshmage. The Nestlands have been, for the most part, left alone by Victor and his minions. Trade is good, and Lord SSilyrrlith is offered Neighbor Courtesies. Our Fleshmage Neord Bloodmane has expressed an interest in representing the Nestlands Clans in Nocturnus. Perhaps after this buisiness with Revolword is handled. I am planning to use a few Nocturnians in the band of adventurers that head to Cedrica. The Nestlands, being in the southern Rakath Mountains, have to have good relations with those in the central part of the range.
