Wonderful little vig. Welcome, new member of the Kaliphlin. Just so you know, unlike LCC, in GOH guild colors are only necessary in your guild entry. Enjoy your time in our Massive Multi-builder Online Role-playing Game.

What you're seeing is the bottom of one of the blanked-out boxes of the GOTG sets. Dr Leg O Brick posted an image of that page.

Book II - Kaliphlin: Guild sign-up and Discussion
gedren_y replied to SkaForHire's topic in Guilds of Historica
@ Lord Butters: As others have said, Bricklink is the best place to get major volume of the parts you need in the colors you want. The have parts available from nearly the beginning of Lego, and several discontinued colors that are also good for desert builds. Shipping rates are an issue, but many sellers that do large volume include on their store's splash page or terms page their shipping rates. -
True, Sam892, it all depends on who owns the merchandising rights and what Lego deems worth its standards. I still would have liked there to have been a Blur version of Superman. Aquaman, Hawkman and Green Arrow weren't too far off their comic look, but that wasn't my point. If Lego had been able to get the DC license then and capitalize on the popularity of Smallville, we could have gotten comic variations of the characters introduced, and the wider DC universe would have been more marketable. Also, Callum Blue was an awesome Zod. Lego missed that window, and then Green Lantern flopped.

That's what I meant, but for that to work the top of the arched window piece has have a plate space between it and the slope brick.

I don't get Cartoon Network here, so the only DC tv shows I get are Arrow on CW and syndicated episodes of Smallville on TNT (early morning). Both of those shows were targeted at the teen-adult market. I doubt we'll see a Green Arrow minifig anytime soon. Lego seems to have missed the window when it comes to the DC media popularity. If Lego had been able to get the full DC license during the later seasons of Smallville, before the Superman Returns movie, we would have had the full JLA, JSA and most of the ancillary characters by now. But that's all "should a', would a', could a', didn't." It is possible though that could see a late year release of DC sets. I just checked the DC Entertainment [us] page on IMDb and they have a Flash tv series in production as well as three animated movies coming out this year; Justice League: War (Feb. 4), Batman: Assault on Arkham (announced), and Son of Batman (filming). I doubt we'll see Guardians of the Galaxy sets at the New York Toy Fair, as they are based on the upcoming movie. Marvel is more likely to release the trailers for GOTG at MegaCon.

It is already listed on the US version of the site, so VIPs may get an early offer, but likely only the day before.

Kaliphlin Times: People of Kaliphlin Edition
gedren_y replied to Mike S's topic in Guilds of Historica
A great return. Copies of the Kaliphlin Times will be of great interest to the Nestlands Clans, as the Nocturnian Civil War has many on edge. Minister Aturl Prndrn wishes to note that it is the western Mountain Mummies that are being drawn away. The eastern and northern Mountain Mummies have been working with Nestlands moneyed interests to build a new casino in Lost Vega (OCC: big LDD build). Work has stalled recently though, due to different religions' holy days being observed. -
March, I just remembered, is MegaCon in Orlando. Big event, and I'm betting Lego will be there. Hopefully we'll see the finaled Marvel sets. A Yondu minifig is my biggest want out of the upcoming line, but the confirmation of Storm and Alpha Flight Wolverine make me want that X-Men set. Shadowcat or Bishop would be great . . . Cyclops . . . meh. As for DC, I have too little interest in the actual comics, so sets and figures based on the intellectual property hold very little appeal. The best from DC IMHO was the British produced Watchmen (movie butchered the storyline) and Neil Gaiman's Sandman (Midsummer Night's Dream won a literature award). Neither of these is ever going to be Lego, so I don't really care which characters Lego and DC chose to push. I'll buy what I can use for other things.

It looks to be a 1x2 plate wedged into the space at a shallow angle. There is likely a small gap between the arch window and the sloped brick. I might want to try this.

Future Castle sets - put your hopes and ideas here
gedren_y replied to Alfadas's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
There was the germ of a good idea in 2004 when Lego gave us a castle that could belong to one faction or the other. As a castle it was a total fail, but the idea of having a set where you could choose which faction gets to own it is a wonderful one. Modular wall, fortress, and tower sets that can be combined in different ways, each with enough heraldry and color pieces so you can choose from different factions. Neutral faces are also a big want. -
It is already listed on the US Lego Shop At Home as available Feb. 1. Edit: Just noticed there is a picture of Grandpa Simpson in the stairwell, possibly a printed tile, and a couple more of that new planter part as lights on the ceiling.

In the 90's tv show she had a gold tiara with a red stone, but I don't think she wore it into battle. After going over her history, the stone is likely her mother's ruby. Much of Storm's history was glossed over in the tv show. There have been a couple variations of the black tiara, but her current one seems to be a reprise of the one she was wearing when she fought Dracula's control in Uncanny X-Men #159 (1982). I don't have that comic, but I do have (in front of me) the What If #24 (1991) in which she doesn't, and Wolverine ends up Lord of the Vampires. In the classic storyline, and the What If, Kitty Pryde provides the pivotal turning point. Wolverine was also in his brown costume for that storyline as well. Kitty Pryde is being played by Ellen Page in the DOFP movie. Just saw an image of Omar Sy as Bishop (another possibility for the yellow handed fig) and now I'm excited to see this one. Kitty Pryde has flown the Blackbird/X-Jet in multiple tv shows and in the comics. Along with being a mutant, she is also a genius. The first X-Men movie made a small reference to this when Wolverine first meets Professor X. Sorry if it feels like I'm ranting.

The best and most positive way for Lego to do Africa would be to partner with the Jane Goodall Institute: animal conservation, as well as licensed style figures. This could include the Jane Goodall's Roots & Shoots program which is in more than 120 countries around the world.

For Storm's hair/tiara combo Lego could recolor this piece, if it doesn't have a DC copyright. The tiara is a close enough shape to Storm's classic crown (as Queen of Wakanda). As to DOFP, one of the major plot points was that Kitty Pryde gets possessed by her future self. Getting her as Shadowcat would be consistent. I believe Wolverine wears his Alpha Flight color costume in those issues as well.

From what I've seen of the X-Men set, it looks like they are basing the designs off of the original Uncanny X-Men comic art. Uncanny X-Men 142 cover has Storm and Wolverine battling a sentinel. Storm doesn't have her tiara in that image (Marvel.com DOFP covers). Magneto in the set could be working with the X-Men as the figure seems to be based off of the future Magneto from the aborted timeline. The yellow gloved figure could be Kitty Pride, as she is one of the feature characters in that issue and wore yellow gloves in several different costumes.

Book II - Mitgardia: Guild sign-up and Discussion

@ MKJoshA: I have to note that the PDF mixes Technic bricks and System SNOT bricks without mentioning that they aren't truly in plane and will incur a small amount of offset. It runs throughout the tutorial. For many of the techniques shown, there is a newish 'travis' brick to replace the out of plane Technic brick. There are a couple of useful techniques in this though. -
Stickers are difficult to tell with these images. A couple CMF parts have made it into this. Lisa's backpack appears to be the skydiver's pack, and the mechanic's tool box is in the garage. You also get two of the new flower pot parts in the same color as the Parisian Restaurant. The radio is actually color accurate to one used in the show early on. Bart's lamp uses a hot dog to get the look. You get some of the Friends line kitchenware. I'd buy this primarily for the large amount of tan bricks, but also the bright colored parts would make awesome color details for my Kaliphlin builds. This is a major GOH parts pack. I will have to start putting money aside. That and my VIP points should give this to me some time near my birthday.

The price jump is likely because of the licensing costs.

Book II - Kaliphlin: Guild sign-up and Discussion
gedren_y replied to SkaForHire's topic in Guilds of Historica
Got a large chunk of my Challenge build done today. The internal lighting set-up has been finalized and the base color scheme set. The biggest challenge now is laying all the trans pieces and figuring out where to place the figures and stickers. I also have a couple Anticlimax builds in the works. -
UoP DoH +1 for all claims. I was a little iffy about the tree claim, but I rechecked DC's tutorial to be sure of the technique you were referencing. There just wasn't a good angle to show off that detail.

On the east coast you say? The Nestlands Market in Cobalt Vale welcomes travelers, but be mindful of the local laws. -
I think Maggie has played with a drill in a couple of episodes. The gun she shot Mr. Burns with was a revolver. Yes, she has held MAC10, but Lego probably wouldn't make that scene. Maggie even held a sniper rifle in one of the spoof episodes. As for CMF variants, I'd like to see adult Bart, adult Lisa and teen Maggie from the 'future' episodes. We will probably get El Barto, since reprised a few times. I also would like Kodo and Podo, but the only discernable difference between the two are the voices. As for the pets, which Snowball would we be getting, I, II, or III?
