Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion
Agent 86 replied to The Jersey Brick Guy's topic in LEGO Town
I'm happy with a bookstore. Although, I would expect some kind of secondary building / business. I don't know what Lego would find amusing to pair with a bookstore ... maybe a small garden supplies shop? Books and "book ... worms"? Or maybe a bookshop and an arcade (i.e. books vs. video games debate)? I would have personally preferred a library, because I'd like to see more government buildings (e.g. hospital, school, library, police station). But, that could be an easy MOD if it is a large bookstore. -
The yellow plastic hands make it an easy pass for me. It’s a shame as I really like the general concept. I guess it’s time to hit Etsy for an alternative!
-
It seems to come with an assortment of bricks to build objects for it to hold (e.g. a guitar). I'm guessing that's why the hands are made from a different material / treated differently - because they need to be sturdy enough to hold the brick built accessories? It's a definite pass for me with the yellow hands. It also appears to be obscenely expansive for quite a small figure. I thought it was 30cm, but it looks like it may only be around 20cm tall. I think Lego got pretty close to making something with wide appeal, especially adults who would have purchased a larger-scale wooden minifigure as a home décor item, but a few missteps lessens the appeal quite a lot.

I wonder why it has yellow plastic hands? I was really excited about a “home decor” wooden mini figure, but the hands just seem so glaringly out of place. I’m guessing it was some kind of safety issue?

Interesting Modular-related competition - thanks for sharing Bricked1980! I wonder whether we could get an ambulance, mail truck / postal delivery van, paddy wagon / police car or similar to ... "encourage" Lego to release a Modular Hospital, Post Office or Police Station? It would be nice to have some ... representation of those essential city services even if it's just a vehicle without an accompanying Modular building. -
Cute idea! And awesome execution!

I hope that the Modulars continue forever! If need be, they could be released every two years, but the annual Modular and usual annual fairground sets are always my “must buys”. -

A classic Cheetah is pretty cool. I probably would have preferred a Teen Titans Donna Troy if they were willing to draw from the Wonder Family. But, as others have mentioned, I'm guessing that they're including villains for the Trinity. -

I like First Appearance Wonder Woman, but the minifigure really needed new hair. Or alternate hair and a printed tiara (IF that combination looked decent). It's a shame that they went cheap and gave Diana her regular, inaccurate hair. I also wish the tiara was yellow like her "eagle" breastplate / insignia. They're meant to be the same colour, whether gold or yellow. The bracelets also seem incorrect. They should probably be very dark blue or grey. I'd also would have liked more stars on the skirt. -

That skirt piece would work well for First Appearance Wonder Woman's culottes / skirt. -

Seeing Cyborg gives me hope that we might get a Donna Troy in her original red jumpsuit! And the First Appearance Batman gives me hope that we might see a First Appearance Wonder Woman, although I’m not sure they have a fitting 1940s style hairpiece for Diana? -

Fingers crossed! That would be a pretty awesome Modular. -
That's a pretty small hospital and a pretty huge bus based on the piece counts!
-
Very cool! They say that "blue and green should never be seen", but the colour combination works really well on this building.

Looking good so far! I hope we get Donna Troy! Or Cassie Sandsmark. An Artemis as Wonder Woman wouldn’t be too bad either. -
Wow! What a great job. I’m going to be keeping an eye out for this set on sale now!
-
Wow! Just wow ... that looks so good. Is there an identifier or sign that I'm missing which lets Lego City minifigure citizens know about the art gallery on the ground floor? Or the newspaper office on the third floor? Or are they both "underground" establishments which don't want to be easily found by unsophisticated plebeians?

Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion

If they're smaller buildings (e.g. an ice cream shop and ... whatever else Lego thinks is "funny / story-telling" to combine with an ice cream shop), two smaller buildings like the Pet Shop and Townhouse would be good. But, for anything significant (e.g. school, museum, library, police station, cottage hospital, etc), I'd like it to be a full-sized Modular. -
2020 Creator Sets - Rumours & Discussion
Agent 86 replied to Klaus-Dieter's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Oh, I don't know whether they sold well or not. I was just speculating. I'd be surprised if Lego stopped manufacturing a particular ... style of Lego set if it was selling well. Unless they were worried that they were cannibalising sales from another theme which they wanted to succeed / provide additional support to launch or maintain? I guess the Haunted House is another "Creator" style house. Maybe Lego just don't think the audience / consumers are there for the Modular series and "smaller" Modular style (i.e. fully-enclosed / four-walled) residential buildings, noting the odd (usually commercial) building we still get in the Creator line (albeit of a smaller scale than the older houses). -

I strongly agree. I wish Lego would release sets similar to Building Bonanza (4886), Model Town House (4964), House (4956), Family Home (6754), Apple Tree House (5891), Hillside House (5771), Beach House (4996) and Family House (31012) again. I really miss being able to add four-walled, fully enclosed and roofed homes to my Lego City. I'm guessing they just didn't sell well enough for Lego to continue? Or maybe they were worried about offering too many "houses" with the launch of Lego Friends? Sets like Park Street Townhouse are too small and City-esque (i.e. open backed, although technically still enclosable) for my liking. -
Very cute! I think you captured all of the "icons" very well in mini Lego form, especially Cinderella's castle.

[Modular MOC] Venetian Watchmaker's and Glass Shop

Very impressive! I like the juxtaposition of the two contrasting styles and the two different "reds". The two stores are also very unique and well realised in Lego form. -
LEGO Disney Minifigures & D2Cs - Rumors and Discussion
Agent 86 replied to Robert8's topic in LEGO Licensed
I like it, but it’s $50 more than the Disney Castle! As much as I love Disney, I can’t fathom paying that much for something so small (if beautiful). I hope that we get some ... better value for money Disney themed sets in the future. I would still love to see Sleeping Beauty’s castle from Disneyland LA.- 961 replies
