Book II - Nocturnus: Guild sign-up and Discussion

Great answers, @Exetrius, though I must say I'm quite proud of my flag-pole-boundary-markers (true oak, dear sir, and Kaliphlin silk for the flags!) -
Book II - Nocturnus: Guild sign-up and Discussion
TitusV replied to ZCerberus's topic in Guilds of Historica
Hello! Though I'm no Nocturnian (Avalonia for the win!), I'll try to answer your questions as best as possible. 1. Here, you are about free to choose. Of course, it'd be hard to claim you have been the High King for several years, but everything else should be fine 2. Well, Nocturnians are less specific on locations than the others guilds, especially Avalonia. Probably because the Darklands are so hard to map... I think, though I'm not sure, they use to say things like "My town X lays in the west of Nocturnus, though east of mountain range Y. It is actually quite close to swamp Z." Of course, you are free to make up your own locations. These would generally speaking be settlements, since things like a mountain range would be, well... However, exceptions can be made for soms cases like Blufiji's Reach (I honestly can't remember who was there first, the swamp or his story). You could also build at someone else's locations, and collaborations are even encouraged, but this should be asked to the respective "owner", by PM or so. As a general rule, I would also try not to name to many things of which there are no MOCs. Even when no story is "set in stone", Nocturnus is the most free of all guilds when it comes to such things. They host the most diverse races, ... Just try not to defy someone else's story, and you'll be fine! Hope this helps, lloking forward to your buils! -
Welcome to the guilds, mishtron! I'll leave your questions to the true Nocturnians out there. Especially when it comes down to vampires, I'd suggest @Lord Vladivus! Why is everybody joining Nocty these days?

GoH official challenges and my commitments!!

I really like the sound of that last sentence! -
The build is more then "OK"! Though I'm not completely sure about the pattern on the floor, I really like your book-cases Looking forward to what these factions are up to

Welcome to the guilds, Cozei! At this moment, we're all holding our breath while waiting on the results of the final challenge, that's why there's not much activity. But I would say: create a sigfig, pick a guild and just start building! Aside from that, I have not much to tell you... Of course, if you have any questions don't hesistate to ask them!

Nice build! I really like the wall texture, though I have to agree with Kai that the round section looks a bit out of place. However upside-down fences work amazingly well for the gate, and the minifig-posing is great, especially on the seventh image!

There's so much to love here! In no particular order (though the last one is by far the most important): °The new stone-detailing works great, and I'm surprised to see the dark tan working out so well. °The brickbuilt arches are so much better then the prefabs, @LittleJohn °Your woodwork is also superb, both on the little house and on the staircase (good use of these hinges there as well, and the 6Ls as cross-bars) °The rounded part is just awesome I'll defenitely have to get myself a few of the curved slopes as well, though I always find it hard to put a roof on round towers (a problem which clearly isn't a problem for you, the roof is again awesome!) °It's not because we've come to expect these interiors from you, that they're less cool, inspiring or well-built. The fact this build can be divided in four (great covering of the seams, by the way) so we can even more admire them, is also really nice. °Probably my favoured technique of the whole build, the corbels. So simple, yet so amazingly effective. This is what LEGO's all about sir!

Your elvish architecture is getting amazing, LJ! Of course, non-square elements are Always nice to see in a build, but this is just impressive. Another cool detail is the use of rowboats, the dark blue colour and their very intresting shape make for a very elvish atmosphere! I would also like to remark that I like all your music instruments. In short, this is as I would imagine an elvish city while reading Tolkien

Welcome to the strongest, coolest, mightiest, in short best guild Roderick! Some cool fig combos you've got there, looking forward to your builds! -
Great to see this is finally up (good job Henjin!). So, for the voting: 1. Henjin Quilones 2. MKJoshA 3. Tie between Faladrin and Captain Braunsfeld (I know it's against the rules, but I really can't choose)

Nice job LegoFin! The immersive scene worked out really well, and the image looks good to me. Nothing to remark here, just a great build

Yet another awesome Kaliphlin build from you, LJ! The build is absolutely lovely. The only thing I have to remark is that the utter-right tower seems a bit bare, but everything else is really good I like all the little details, like the spring/well/waterfall, and of course the rockwork is amazing as well The use of tilted plates for the pathways worked out really well, I think!

Though I really like that base, I find it hard to make out the black part. But hey, whatever it is: great use of these spiders!!!

Aside from what you and HQ already said (a minifig would indeed help out a lot!), I have one more remark: the air. I have seen quite a lot of these brickbuilt clouds lately, but I must say that yours is really good! To be honest, I love it It's just the right shade of blue, and just the right amount of plates... Impressive

Book II - Avalonia: Guild sign-up and Discussion

Thanks guys! Problem is that the cartoon festival takes two months, so every brick I put into it would be "lost" for two months. That's why I tried to use as few as possible. I would have liked to make the crane work, but considering the limited time and the fact it would be exposed in a plastic case, that idea was dropped pretty quickly -
Great to see Eslandola is sending help, especially if the help is conpanied by such a fine MOC You should build more land-based, because I really like this!

Book II - Avalonia: Guild sign-up and Discussion
TitusV replied to Rogue Angel's topic in Guilds of Historica
Though the war is over, people don't feel safe yet. That's why the Lord of Dragonstone, @Brandon Stark, has ordered his vassals to construct a sery of castles on strategic positions. Every one of them is equiped with a moat. So the enemy will drown while the garrison is sure to sit high and dry. Also, new roads are constructed with grind, sand and stone to allow easy transportation of armies. Like this the local farmers will feel much more ensured! --------------- Built for the International Cartoon Festival of Knokke-Heist, Belgium. This year's theme is science and technology, hence the castle-under-construction. Since I'm not very happe with the level of the build, and the images are even shittier, I figured it didn't deserve it's own topic. Still, I'm reasonably content with the final result considering it was built in less then 12 hours It did feel strangely refreshing to use so little texture... -
A very neat vally you've got there! My favoured build must still be the tower (the rockwork is sooo good man!) As for the horse training: though the ground feels a bit bare, the pitchfork-with-helmett looks lovely!
-
Good use of these fences, and I really like the pathway (exactly the right amount of detailing!). The corner does feel a bit unfinished though... Overall still a nice build!
