  1. Yet another amazing entry for team Lleidr! I really like how you team got different builds, yet still maintained a unique, common style in all three entries. That's something quite hard to achieve, and you succeeded very well. A deserved winner
  2. Really cool build, ME! Though the black tower is really cool, the best part of this build for me is the landscaping. My jaw drops at the notion of 12.000 neon oranges (and even 11.000 is a lot ), but what completely blows my mind is the rockwork. Your rocks are always top-of-the-bill, but this time you have outdone yourself sir.
  3. Sst, don't say that aloud noone would have noticed! Do I hear someone asking for a build-off? Thanks!
  4. Aye, that's something quickly forgotten. Though you build probably was the smallest of our four entries, it also was the one done before the rest of us even started. As such, you defined not only your own style, but also the style of all entries (I just copied at least all your stonework). Seems liek that turned out to work very well
  5. Great job, Captain B! My favoured aspect must be the cloud, though the ships are nice as well
  6. Yes, your defenitely convinced me of the trans blue. They're sure to be in my next BL order! Thanks for the comment, but I am the one who needs to congratulate you sir. On to next year's edition!
  7. And twelve points go to... Avalonia!!! Not only getting a honorable mention, but also delivering the winner of this year's Summer Joust Castle Collaboration Category, it is clear we are the best guild Congratulations to @Henjin_Quilones, @The Maestro and @ZlatanXVIGustaf
  8. Better late than never, sir! I'm just combining what I see and like in the Guilds: tudor (ZC) + swamp (you) => this (me) Water would indeed be very cool, but as I said to dG: I don't have enough trans-clear plates to use them properly, and I didn't want to spoil the MOC. You're making me blush I just do what I like...
  9. You're not that slow either, sir I found your comment very intresting to read! Lego can be very expensive, sadly enough... O man, I love it! Especially some good old half-timbered tudor sections can really blow my mind
  10. That's really cool, but indeed a very thoug choice to make...
  11. Thank you, Garmadon! The shutters were inspired by ZC Thanks Kai! Glad you like the woodwork, considering it is the "main feature" of this build
  12. Actually, it are turn-table-bases Exactly! It's not because castles look old today, they were built looking old
  13. Thanks Garm! I really love tudor (though I think you must have noticed that before ). The sign is actually borrowed from @soccerkid6's Green Goblet Inn. When giving credits, I should also mention @Gideon, who inspired the use of microfigs on jumpers with his excellent Jungle Temple. Thank you Kai, glad you like the lay-out, since there went a lot of hours into laying it out Sign by SK, and I defenitely don't plan on stopping! Thanks Gunman, great to see you like it so much I'm sure you can! Thanks! Thank you! The sign was borrowed from SK's Green Goblet Inn, though I have multiple variations for multiple shops ready... I always find photography way harder than building, so... And in my opinion, there's but one way of "learning to rockwork", and that's building! I feel honoured!, thanks! Thank you! Thanks, good to see you like the stilts, I may be using them again one day Thank you! Normally, I don't use fleshies, but my team is one huge fleshie-loving mess (), so in the end I just said "OK". And it seems they were right... Thanks, Littleworlds! I know what you mean, with all these ramshackle buildings nowadays. Nothing against a bit of texture, but I prefer it if my figures (even when they're fleshies ) can actually live in their houses, and preferably without a leaking roof. Thank you, Andy! Thanks captain! I think I'm not going to reply on that first sentence, but thank you none the less! Personally, I'd say Jacob Nion's MOCs still are a step up from my builds, though you're right: this build looks bigger then it is! As for the colours, I went a bit out of my comfort zone. The sand green was a last-minute addition, after a lot of urging from my team-mates. I find dark green a very cool colour to use, although a bit hard to take images of. Glad you like all the shapes, especially the curved walkway was a real pain in the megablock to build Now you say it, a tree would have been super-duper cool! It would add colour, and depth, ... Yes, I really like the idea! Why did you only tell me now? What? Join Necturnus... Noctirnis... Toxturnus... The pumpkin-pie-guild? Never! I just love Avalonia to much... Though there has been a point in the past when @Blufiji had almost persuaded me. Almost! Thank you for the long comment, sir. Thanks! I have actually never tried my hand at an existing castle, but I looked these examples up and they sure are really cool! So maybe, one day... Thank you, Slegengr! Glad you like the tudor style so muc, since there are more builds in the same style to follow It's good to see you noticed the blacksmith, since it was a bit hidden in the corner. That's a great comment, dG, thank you! It does bear some appearance to Lake Town, but this is more by coincidence than on purpose. I think. Water would have been cool, but I only have the brighter shades of blue (as fits a proper Avalonian! ), and this would have spoiled the atmosphere. Ideally, I'd use the same technique as Henjin and The Maestro did, but I had only 5 1x2 trans-clear plates or so... Hence I decided to go without water. Tha's quite the compliment, thanks!
  14. @mccoyed : I left a note on Flickr, which should be clearer Otherwise, just check out DC's amazing "Detailed Guide to Building a Mediëval Village"
  15. Lovely scene, I wish I could have attented this marvellous meeting!
  16. As I said before, this is an awesome MOC! I really like the tudor section, and though the wall-texturing borders the acceptable, it worked out pretty well! Glad to have you in our team, Maestro!
  17. A very nice build! I really like the lay-out, with the bridge and the well-built rockwork Though your half-timbered tudor sections are great as well, I think making the horizontal lines two plates, instead of one, high. This usually looks way better Another note goes to the roofs in normal yellow. It's something we don't see very often over here, but this build shows that's a real pity! It's good to see you back, mccoyed
  18. Tíre Keep is one of the most valuable strongholds of Avalonia. Though it has never been occupied, it's real advantage is the lighthouse: Avalonian ships are ensured they will not get lost the Great Western Ocean. ------------ ------------ My second entry to the SJ '17, again for the Castle Collab, and my amazing team mates are @Henjin_Quilones and @The Maestro (who's builds will follow). I would like to thank them, and of course the organisation, since I had great fun and I think so had everyone else. Note that it would theoretically be possible to combine all four builds into one big build withouth any (easily noticeable) seams by putting them next to eacht other (and of course removing the border ). The build was heavily inspired by DC's builds, which I think is easily noticeable. The shutters were borrowed from ZC's "Ye Slightly Newer Forge". Still, I'm very fond of this one (especially of the completely-timbered tudor sections) Thanks for looking, CC very welcome! Tíre Gatehouse Tíre Village
  19. Tíre Keep is one of the most valuable strongholds of Avalonia. Though it has never been occupied, it's real advantage is the lighthouse: Avalonian ships are ensured they will not get lost the Great Western Ocean. ---------- ---------- My entry to the SJ '17, I'm glad I finally got around to posting it here. Category is the Castle Collab, and my amazing team mates are @Henjin_Quilones and @The Maestro (who's builds will follow). I would like to thank them, and of course the organisation, since I had great fun and I think so had everyone else. Note that it would theoretically be possible to combine all four builds into one big build withouth any (easily noticeable) seams by putting them next to eacht other. The only thing I'm not very happy about are the fleshies figures, but well... My team insisted! And I have to concede it works well with the (somewhat darker) atmosphere we tried to create. Thanks for looking, CC very welcome! Tíre Courtyard Tíre Gatehouse
  20. What? You mixed fleshies and yellows... *Gasps Though I'm no fan of mixing, I think it serves it's purpose quite well here. The whole build is actually quite nice, with the piece of roofing and the angled wall as highlights! I also really like your figures, the red/dk orange clothing works very well I think!
  21. Such a lovely build Lot's of things to admire here, like the cheesey-slopes mosaics, or the use of all different kinds of arches/inverted slopes at the entrance. A special detail which really appeals to me are the two small trees, they are so... As for the story: I think not every build should contain a long story tied in with the ongoing events, but small write-ups like you did here can flesh out the Guilds just as well
  22. You kicked off the challenge very well! Though they are all neat, my favoured must be the peasant, with the bars on his back, and the daimyo (really like that hat there!). Oh, and the oni are all really cool
  23. Just build whatever you want! (it's not uncommon to make little ventures outside your own guild)
  24. aren't these kind of creatures the average Nocturnian pies? I wouldn't know, my minifigs are used to baking things which are eadable by the consumer, not eating the consumer
  25. Yup, a typical Homo Avalonicus here But I think we can call you a typical pumpkin-pie-baker too! Thanks! I know, I usually just forget about signatures so they're builds from like three years ago
