  1. Fantasy in all its forms doesn't interest me but this is a very good build with beautifully unique presentation. You've managed to creatively use all the different wizards to good effect. The wraparound staircase, columns and doors are all beautiful. The floor mosaic is my favorite part and easily ranks among the best in my opinion. In particular the use of the different arch pieces to create curves and the big central circle is simply superb. I also like the alligator tail plant bursting through the stone floor. I've seen the tail used as a plant before but it still looks cool. There's plenty to see in the photostream too. Good work.
  2. That's a pretty solid outpost. The colorscheme is a bit unusual but I don't mind. There is indeed a strong contrast between the upper and lower portions but the base also provides a strong contrast, and it really grabs your attention. I like the doors but I also think the knob is a bit high. The angled lower corners are nice and the plants are a welcome detail. Good work.
  3. That's a very good island. Some of the rockwork may be a little crude but overall it has a nice shape and the archway is neat. I like the shape of the beach and the water looks good. My favorite part is the sharks swimming around beneath the surface. It looks very real that way. Of course the pirates make for an interesting scene too and the different lighting is interesting. Good work!
  4. Every single room is just brilliant. I simply can't pick a favorite - I like them all! The coffee pot is incredible and the vaccuum is really good. I also really like the wheels on the office chair. The blinds and curtains are really cool and all the furniture and appliances look great. Excellent work! Your minifigs have got a nice place to live!
  5. Another good ship is always a welcome sight. The teaser ship really wouldn't be bad if all the colors matched up. The stern on the actual ship is indeed lovely, and the rigging looks pretty good too. I agree with Phred in thinking that tumblehome sides would improve it but that can be quite an undertaking if it requires a major redesign, and this is fine the way it is. Too bad the bluecoats' Clipper didn't look like this from the start! Good work and keep on sailing.
  6. The story is well-written, and with all due respect to the other participants, I think this is the best overall collection of builds for the challenge. The photography is just excellent and the presentation is superb. The house scene at the beggining is nice, although I would've tiled the floor to give it the appearance of hard-packed earth, the way dirt floors were usually done. The jungle scene is perfect wih all the dense trees and undergrowth. The graves under the tree look appropriately mournful. I think I've commented on all the other builds elsewhere, and the selective close-ups detail the rest of the story well, especially the various scenes from the island. Excellent work!
  7. Very good story! The name is clever to start with and he/you tell a pretty good tale. "The grass was grassy", "What good is reason?", "Would you be so kind as to repeat that?" - just a few of the witty remarks that keep it interesting. The new scenes, while small, do their part to add to the tale. The island scene is a lovely and relaxing setting. I like the muddy scene and the galloping camel looks nice. The final scene is a good, shiny, rich way to wrap it up. Good work.
  8. Good job with the forced perspective. Building the long open expanse really gives the landscape that empty feel and the micro city is nice. The decorated archway is great and the thick vegetation looks good around the edges. The crowd, while small, makes a good beginning to the parade. The rising (or is it setting?) sun is a good touch that could be used in lots of scenes like this. Good work!
  9. That's a humorous story and a fine collection of equally humorous builds to go with it. I've commented on several of them elsewhere. The scene with the surgeon is nicely built and the poses are really good. I also like the posing of the last scene; it really illustrates the point well and the knapsack makes excellent use of the bag. Good work.
  10. The ongoing story is interesting, but this little scene is just lovely. It reminds me of a beach setting and the lighting gives it that clear mid-day look. It's just an inviting scene and this being summer it looks like a good place for a vacation. Good work.
  11. That's a nice little landscape. The trees frame the perimeter well and the stream flowing through the middle is neat. I like the stepped footbridge although I'm not sure I'd trust it! All the different modified figs look nice and the activity is enough to keep you focused. Good work.
  12. Indeed it isn't jaw-dropping and indeed you're correct in saying that it doesn't need to be. (While nearly everything I've seen posted in GoH has been good, most of it isn't jaw-dropping so you're in good company!) But it's still a nice little build. The curvature at the corners is really nice, especially the way it wraps around the staircases. The floor details are neat and the three thrones look like they've been hewn from massive wood beams. I really like that candlestick and its holder and the story is well-written as always. Good work.
  13. The idea of illustrating a story coming out of a book is brilliant - and both the book and the scene are built very well. There's so much happening in such a small space and it's easily recognizable. Excellent work!
  14. That is one colorful parade - and it captures the energy and excitement of a parade perfectly. Good job integrating the various minifigs into such a busy area; I especially like the use of the CMF princess. Nice work!
  15. That's a beautiful hospital! The architecture, white structure, and roof are splendid together. (What color is the roof anyway?) The walled courtyard is also superb and altogether it just looks so inviting. The interior is equally good, from the made-up beds to the bedsheets pulled up on the patients to the various poses and expressions. Good work!
  16. This is a unique setting and it looks pretty good. The design and colors of the house are lovely. The different poses illustrate the concept nicely. My one suggestion would be a little more variety to the lawn just to break up the large expanses of plain green studs but otherwise it's very good. Nice work.
  17. Nice great hall! The staircase and stage area are very good and the floor pattern is neat. I like the integrated hearth and the arches built into the rock pillars. I don't mind the exposed studs because it looks fine otherwise. And the flags add a nice touch of color. Good work!
  18. Excellent multi-level build! It looks great and also looks like a lot of fun. All the different details are nice - the desk design is good and also looks appropriately dusty, the shelf is brilliant, the weapon rack is imposing, and the forge is neat. The other additional items like the alchemist's vial of liquid are good too. Is the big hair mad scientist wearing the torso piece I think he's wearing? It all adds up to a nice busy scene. Good work!
  19. Now there's an interesting concept! Metal-working being an area of interest to me, I must say this is a fine if not entirely realistic build. The furnace with its raging fire and billowing smoke looks great, and the idea of connecting the two sides with the arched walkway is neat. I also think the use of the spike pieces for unfinished blades is a great idea. With or without the dragon it's a very good overall design. I'm intrigued by the anvil - is that a one-piece item? Good work!
  20. This is a lovely scene considering the fact that it contains so few colors. The gatehouse looks excellent with that solid structure and the tan roofs provide a nice contrast. The gaps around the doors are a bit wide but the doors themselves look nice. My favorite feature is the snow. It just looks absolutely perfect and makes excellent use of the various straight and curved slopes. Good work as usual!
  21. This is a lovely build and a unique twist to the ongoing story. In retrospect it seems so obvious - fire and ice. You've illustrated the concept well. The house is nice, especially the way you just boat your way up to the front door. My favorite features are the built-up and detailed fjord and the waterfall itself, which looks very much like running water to my eyes. The rockwork is pretty good too and I'm really surprised by how well the old-style conifer trees look in this setting. Good work and keep on building!
  22. This collection of fine builds tells a pretty good story on its own. The setting for the opening scene looks beautiful with the red and gold accenting the browns and grey. It's an inviting interior. The marching scene is incredibly detailed and looks great in that scale. About the only way to improve it would be to place everything on an irregular base. The caravan is one of the better one's I've seen in that scale and the examination scene has a very good set of buildings to go with it. The sideways rocks in the attack scene are lovely. And of course the parade is brilliant but I've commented on it elsewhere. Excellent work as usual de Gothia!
  23. This is an excellent collection. The first photo captures the mood of the scene perfectly. Besides that the towering structure is splendid with its textured walls and various details. The catapult looks great, although I have a hard time envisioning a few small children getting very far with it. The base it sits on is lovely - I haven't seen many builders make the border follow the terrain and this one has such a good form. The micro scene is creative as well - from the hat roof to the drawbridge chains to the crenelations on the walls and tower. It's a beautiful little scene. Excellent work.
  24. That's a fine setting for a parade. The double-archway on the one end and the big building on the other frame the scene well. The columns, arches and new fences look great and I like the decorated roof too. The roadbed does seem sparse but with so much going on it's not a big deal. Good work!
  25. Good job on the embassy. The old castle walls actually look pretty good this way and the overall structure is nice even with so many colors. The water, rocks and small dock all look great. Of course the roof technique is cool too. Overall this is a fine composition. Good work!
