  1. Another beautiful ship! So much to look at, so much to like! The overhead views in particular demonstrate just how much effort has gone into hull shaping, which is phenomenally done. Very nice.
  2. This is what Brethren of the Brick Seas is all about : building for the mini-challenge with the associated figbarf, and the excellent presentation of such in a proper build, with a matching story and notable lore included. Very well done. The team looks the part, but the build is the highlight for me. The buildings show that classic designs still look good. Nice job with the use of color to give them all a unique look. And the cobblestone is beautiful. That angry statue is perfect! Are those all standard parts, or some customs? And I assume it's balanced on those tiles, rather than attached? My eyes are drawn to the, ahem, girl with the white straps. Tell me that's a light brown hair piece, and not gold? Cause if it's gold, then I'm going Bricklinking pronto. (Due to the lighting, I can't quite tell...) The madam looks... scary. Is this altogether the red light district, or is it contained to the one establishment? (No, I won't be visiting. I'm merely curious.) Dead chickens. That monkey. Those pineapples... Haha, perfect!
  3. WHOA. Wow. That is beautiful and impressive. Exceptionally built and a lovely composition. Recently I was thinking that I hadn't seen anything from you in a while. And then you show us this! The level of detail throughout is incredible. As for minifigs, you don't really miss them in the full view pics. It is certainly interesting to see something like this without them. Good work as usual.
  4. I keep thinking that there's a standard torso somewhere with printing similar to that sticker, but maybe with a vest or coat over it. But I can't seem to find it... I totally missed that. Clever indeed.
  5. Surely they are smart enough to realize that would just drive buyers and sellers elsewhere, beyond their control? Right? Or do I overestimate their intellect? I'm not really into licensed themes, but for anyone who is, this would be major...
  6. Well, life goes on regardless. Building is for me just a hobby. But there's a monumental difference between "a company" and "The Lego Group." Oops, I did it wrong. (Stupid me.) "The LEGO Group (C) (R) TM 2019" Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh, I feel better already...
  7. Same here. The closest store is several hours away... Maybe the whole LUG thing isn't working out to their liking?
  8. I don't have reasonable access to a LUG and didn't know they weren't taking more. Anyone know the rationale behind it? Has TLG grown weary of that approach? (Sorry for going off topic...) As for the whole PaB/B&P resellers thing: does anyone know for sure if this has happened? I don't really see what difference it ever would've made to TLG, but I can definitely see them stopping people from doing it, just because they probably now can.
  9. That's the extreme example, yes, quite rare in practice, and requires one to be supremely confident in one's position, but it still comes down to making money. But yeah, it has nothing to do with this scenario. Perhaps TLG will stop with abolishing the real competition from Bricklink -- those other clone brands and such. @GREG998 The link isn't working for me. Anyone else?
  10. Buying out competition for the purpose of eliminating said competition altogether is entirely about making money, especially when the buyer shuts down the bought. But I do generally agree with your other thoughts.
  11. Please tell me this is a joke. I'm pretty sure I don't like it -- unless they pretty much leave well enough alone, and set up their own shop, too. I can only imagine sweeping changes, restrictions, fees. "We own it. We made the parts. We make the rules now. Sorry, you can't do that anymore." I hope they prove me thoroughly wrong, but it just looks like a convenient way for them to control a major market that was always supposed to be beyond their control...
  12. Very nice and very vintage police car. I would probably buy it if it was a set. As for the arches, it appears to me that the would-be thieves also practice in bad remodelling...
  13. They are currently packed away with the rest of my bricks. That design works reasonably well for shrimp. I've often wondered how to do it, and hadn't thought of this approach. TLG could just print them onto small round tiles, too...
  14. It's nice to see a blacksmith somewhere besides Castle / Historic themes . I really like that forge, especially in that lovely dark red, and again I like the use of grille pieces for texture in the roof. The open-front layout looks quite realistic for the time. Perhaps the wheel would be more convincing in black, unless you don't have them in that color. I really like the torso used on the blacksmith, save the lack of sleeves. It seems most Castle MOC 'smiths go sleeveless too, but usually they wore very heavy clothing all over to protect against flying sparks. Otherwise, good build.
  15. Very nice. As Tim Conway would say, those are "koala-ty" builds. Good job packing so many details into relatively small packages. Keep it up.
  16. The story continues! First, allow me to comment on the prior build. That is amazing. The wall techniques, the color scheme, and the lovely clock (from Hairy Pottery?) all combine into a beautiful build, and the all-LEGO scene in particular has such a wonderful atmosphere. I had to brush up on the story, as I had largely forgotten all the who-what-when stuff. And the latest installment of both build and story carries it on nicely. The contrast between dark and light greys is astounding, especially with the central pool, and the arched columns are really nice. I don't quite like the look of the exposed brown plates on the facade, but the other details are nice. And I like the combination of minifigs. You have done so many nice frameless windows from transparent bricks and plates that I'm tempted to give it a try sometime.
  17. That kiln is lovely - but replacing the tan tiles with dark red would make it marvelous, critics of single-color structures be dashed. I also like the look of the shed. The base area is pretty plain; perhaps some tastefully arranged plates in similar colors would detail it nicely. But a solid build nonetheless.
  18. Ahoy! Welcome aboard the best forum, @Master0889 Overall I think this is a good accessible build with lots of accessories, and the playable features look good. But I'm going to agree at least somewhat with @Corydoras regarding the use of color specifically. It does strike me as a bit incoherent or inconsistent. There are column/railing pieces and window lattices in multiple colors, which is somewhat jarring visually. Likewise the variety of vegetation colors is interesting, but almost too much of a kaleidoscope for me. And as much as I like white and red together on the walls, I wonder if an earth tone accent color would go better with the dark blue roof, or perhaps a less colorful roof might compliment the walls better? Just a thought... I'm still not a fan of joining 2 rowboats together for a single vessel, though. I know TLG has done it, but it always looks too long and too clunky at the point of connection to me. I'd much rather see a small-hulled ship like the trader from the Imperial Trading Post. But besides those things, nice MOC.
  19. @kbalage Exactly what you said. All vids must be labeled if they are "child directed" but the language as to what applies is intentionally, lazily vague; YouTube is encouraging creators to consult a lawyer if they're unsure of how to classify content ( ) ; and anything deemed "child directed" by the FTC that isn't thus labeled is subject to the $42k fine, regardless of the intended audience. What doesn't appeal to kids and young teens these days? I think the FTC is still accepting statements from individuals, beyond their original cut-off date, due to the volume of input received? I expect there to be immense backlash to the whole thing. And I have never uploaded anything, for the record.
  20. It will affect advertising - specifically, no personalized ads, since not collecting personal browsing info of children is the real issue. This will change the type of advertising on kids videos and almost certainly cut revenues. It will also disable certain features, like comments if I understand it properly. It looks like a big mess to me. I feel for those of you who post lots of vids.
  21. Bear cavalry?! That is some story accompanied by some builds. The secret meeting is my favorite. What to mention? The chairs and table and loaded bookcases (especially the big bound books on the lowest shelves) are lovely and I like the variety of food items on the table; at one point I was like "what happened to all the food?!" and then realized they had eaten it and were polishing off dessert. (Duh. Then I had to go back, pic by pic, and see how the meal was progressing .) It must have taken quite some time to have posed and re-posed all the minifigs, goblets, and food items. I see Sir Glorfindel even brought along his dental floss. (Sorry. I know it happens; it's happened to me, and it's immensely frustrating to spot it, after the fact, following a lengthy photo shoot. You did quite well otherwise.) The tavern is nice. I really like the candle holders on the walls; that design is just a perfect mating of parts if you ask me. I'm not entirely sure of the purpose of that Scar Warts head mounted on the wall (I can't even call his name), but it made me laugh, anyway! That chamber... whoa. The design is really cool, and the photography, especially the first panorama pic without minifigs, just captures the cool eerie atmosphere perfectly. I'm equally impressed by the creativity of all those different creatures, the posing of so many different figs throughout the stages of battle, and again the photographic effort required to capture it all. Your assessment of the minidolls is just about perfect. Some of them are kinda cute though. Regarding the story, I don't have a particular interest in fantasy and magic and so on, and probably don't appreciate it like many of you, but I have done some writing and I certainly appreciate the effort you put into it. Two things I don't like: the truth potion and enspelled bottle of water. I understand the purpose, of course, but it just seems too convenient, and removes much of the possible intrigue that would exist in a non-fantasy setting. But in that, I suppose it is best left "to each his own." I think we all understand your desire to have built more. The story would be presented even better with a few more builds, but this is still an incredible effort. Well done. Oh, and you haven't properly done pic-heavy until you've put *cough* 100+ photos in a single post. Did I mention Bear Cavalry?
  22. Wow, that's beautiful. The photography is splendid as always, and while you're certainly a master of the more elaborate Barqa builds, you also do extremely well with relatively simple techniques such as those used here. That tree... that tree just makes every other LEGO tree look pathetic. (alternately and ) The crown as flowerpot is brilliant, and the other plants look really nice, too. And that cat door is certainly creative. The roof design is new to me, and looks pretty good, if perhaps a bit part intensive, but who am I to talk in that regard... (try doing an entire roof in that same orientation with MDF-colored small sound plates! ) Paired with dark orange, it looks fantastic. I have been wanting to pair those colors in a roof, and having now seen it done I really need to get on with it. Large or small, your Barqa builds have all been very appealing. Keep it up.
  23. Colorful and creative build. I particularly like the raised beds and that arched gateway.
  24. A little blocky perhaps but "brought to life" with all the descriptions and accompanying scenes.
  25. Actually I don't plan to participate. I was just asking for fun. If you ask me, floppers/divers should be keel-hauled and forced to walk the plank. Into a school of sharks.
