  1. Ah! can't wait for your review. I'm probably more excited for that than the actual set lol. You always deliver the most beautiful photographs But this really goes to show how much better looking the Porsche rims are compared to the standard Technic rims. That fender on the power puller wheel looks atrocious.
  2. I agree with this. A box is just a...box to me. I always flatten them and stash them somewhere or just recycle them. Plus the whole idea of a "coffee table" instructions booklet is just funny to me.. I mean seriously?! I'd probably end up getting this set for the parts, but honestly I just wish focused less on the "porsche experience" and more on the actual set
  3. I agree. I think this is much better as a set than the porsche, I mean that steering alone is ingenious and the rotating cabin is very cool. The tires are awesome as well. But as a parts pack, I'm leaning towards the porsche since it has a large number of panels and "shaping" parts in a single color as well as those beautiful rims... But other than that, I'm actually pretty disappointed by the lack of playability and the questionable gearbox in it.
  4. lol, I must find out what that MOC is, looks amazing from what I can see...
  5. Is that your studio?! If it is could you tell me what that SUV MOC next to the red mug on the self is?
  6. But now since two people are confirmed of having this problem, I doubt that's the issue here. Anyways are you referring to leftmost gear at the front of the gearbox, which is mated to the red clutch gear? Yes but the actual gearbox can still be in neutral, which was probably the case. If it's as bad as it shows in the video, yeah it's absolutely unacceptable. Whats the purpose of a fancy gearbox if the car can't move at all....
  7. LOL! idk about anio but I wouldn't really consider the subpar suspension travel a serious issue. It has to be gearbox related... Also remember before when he said he had to confirm with Jim and sariel about this "issue" before speaking more about it on the boards? So the fact he's been vocal about it could only mean that Jim and sariel have also run into this flaw ( assuming they replied, that is)....
  8. I guess you have a point. I think I'm just spoiled by all the beautiful MOCs posted here...
  9. I just watched the AUTO BILD video and man that front end looks rough. Those huge gaps between the lights and the bumper, as well as all the empty spaces between the angled 7x3 panels and the long smooth one. There are too many gaps in the wrong places yikes... Not sure if I can post an image here so I won't, but the video should be easy to find.
  10. Wow, this thing is really jam packed with features. Rear mounted gearbox with 8-speeds and paddle shift!? very daunting but you seem to have it all figured out So are you ditching the brake system for the porsche wheels? Not really, he meant that the driving rings take too much force to switch because of the connector.
  11. Haven't been able to keep up with all the discussion going on here, but I'm finally free for the summer so I'm back in the Lego business I still like this set, despite it being a set of many missed opportunities. These are my main gripes with it for anyone who cares The wheels not having an axle hole and needing custom sized tires is a huge bummer. 4 reverse gears? really? The new wheel hubs were designed to hold the brake "calipers" yet they're just bricks with stickers on them. If you're gonna go through all that trouble to design new hubs why not just make the brakes a bit more authentic looking? The suspension is very unrealistic and rear wheel steering is a pretty important feature in this car, which they completely skipped. Yet the dampers are red, because yay authenticity The box is unnecessarily fancy, would rather pay less and get a bog standard box. The rear end of the car is ugly ( but the rest of the bodywork is beautiful ) The color isn't lava orange. It's more like RS orange ( signature color of the 997 generation) or continental orange. But it's a welcome change from all the red supercars TLC has been putting out over the years. $300 seems a bit too steep but then again, I'm gonna wait for jim's review and then decide. If the wheels and the fenders become available through TLC customer service/pick brick the chance of me getting this set will be even lower.
  12. I can definitely see where you're coming from, makes sense if you look at it that way.
  13. Best looking supercar Lego has released up to date, BUT, the rear still looks incomplete, the area around the headlights is empty and it should've been purple instead of this orange which totally doesn't look anything like lava orange. Gearbox seems mega interesting though, can't wait to see how it works. Disappointed with the suspension - seems like your standard TLG suspension with red dampers for "authenticity" Engine seems like a 180 degree V6 instead of a real boxer as well. Priced a bit too high as well IMO. But still, great first step towards creating more "realistic" TLG sets. Can't wait to see what the future holds. This is obviously leaps and bounds better than the 8880. Sure, if you compare some of the features individually the 8880 might "win", but as a finished product I think anyone with eyes would agree with me on this.
  14. Yeah but black is boring. Purple>Orange>>>>black.
  15. Wow, the cabin and crane look gorgeous and I too would like to see some pictures of front drivetrain+suspension. If there's any criticism its that I'm not completely sold on the front bumper, I think you can do a better job! Looking forward to the progress.
  16. I agree wholeheartedly. And who knows it might even be one of his first MOCs! We all have to start somewhere.
  17. Wow, I actually agree with you now that I've seen better pics. I'd most probably still end up getting it for the wheels and fender panels but the more I see the less excited I get. Those gaps are going to look bad in a flashy color.
  18. Interesting thought! They look almost exactly the same, you're getting me hyped! I would buy this set regardless of the colour, but black would be a serious letdown. Black with black wheels would make it look unfinished imo. Red or purple are the top choices for me.
  19. I agree that the existing orange is no-where close to Lava orange and wouldn't really look good.. On the other hand the purple that was recently introduced in the go-cart looks pretty close to ultraviolet, and would look amazing IMHO.
  20. Okay after watching the video and skimming through this thread, this is what I have to say about it. Wheels are just WOW. Tires are awful, I wouldn't mind seeing semi-slicks on a model like this. Front end looks nice, the greenhouse and the side view are superb, but the back looks.. unfinished? Hopefully it's still in development. The gearbox is interesting! I have an idea for a paddle-shift system that I'm working on right now, so I'm kinda mad that TLC beat me to it but I have to say the steering column looks atrotious. Also could the changeover catch in the middle be used to control something other than the gearbox? Like a function splitter for the non drivetrain functions ( if there are any)? Where's the roll cage?! For $300(?) I expect it to be as detailed as possible. Please don't be black. I'll be happy with orange although I do think that the 991 GT3 RS looks stunning in Ultraviolet
  21. Great progress so far! I agree with you on the tiles I think the sides with the air tanks and the function splitter looks fantastic.
  22. sweet mother of everything thats holy. I need at least 2 of this, WOW. Just WOW.
  23. You have perfectly captured the lines of the car, The side and rear view look fantastic. However, IMHO the front end is too busy - there are way too many angled connectors in there for my liking. I understand it's still WIP so lets see what you can come up with!
