  1. This looks marvelous—all sorts of fantastic detailing!
  2. Though not to bump in and revive this old thread in spark of new conversation… I have to admit I did not notice they used old clone trooper molds for the preliminary box art of the V-19 Torrent Fighter & and the AT-TE sets in particular!
  3. I as well, am most fond of the original phase 1 clonetrooper; besides its accurate detailing, I like that the mold of the helmet features the hollowed out visor and the neck armor! I also like the new generation phase 1 helmets, though not as much as the original!
  4. Thank you! I believe I am going to revisit the legs to give them a design overhaul that does not involve old/retired elements or that does look so chunky.
  5. Actually, the overall rating is a bit less than 2.5 studs!
  6. Thank you for stepping out to help and provide your experience, though before I can, I have to find out how spaced apart I want and need the leg hubs to be, and maybe also finish more amor panels Much appreciated!
  7. Thinking about it, I did not know wheels and tires exist in the galaxy far far away!
  8. You should have instructions made and then sell them, as it is a fantastic model! Does the wheel retract or fold back into the body?
  9. Though in the show I usually find Chopper annoying in most cases, you did a phenomenal job recreating him in Lego on scale with R2-D2—fantastic work!
  10. I have to do this!
  11. I blame camera lens for not capturing it so gracefully—its a common phenomena that things look better in person than on a screen! Thanks! In my craze of all things from the Mata era, I had this ambitious idea to also make an exo-toa for Tahu (something I also never owned ). I already have designed a prototype for extending arm with the gasher claws, and successfully the function bares a strong resemblance to the original feature of the set. I have stopped working on it and otherwise focused on my AT-AT, but thinking of it, I also remember that I revamped the Phantom Lewa a while back, so I will possibly get him up here at some point. To extend the arm, the tan Av-Matoran and the 7mm Technic beam are squeezed together. You are welcome!
  12. Well, besides tinkering with the building guide, that is it… Approaching the area that will inevitably require extensive Technic work I dangerously become overwhelmed with the vast possibilities of how the structure can be setup, so much that I neglect the process of making preliminary designs before arriving at the perfect construction that I aspire to attain so ambitiously, and unintentionally I put off work for a while… Though the funny thing about it is that I am a relatively new MOCer/builder. I have not had much previous experience with building something with such a high regard for structure until now, so I am learning this as I go! But thank you for keeping interest, I will convert it into motivation and endeavor to make more progress and frequently.
  13. Much appreciated! Unfortunately, the gear setup is not functional. Though thinking about it, it does interest me to see if it is possible in such a limited space.
  14. Indeed, the arms are hard to love from angles, though I believe the third photo portrays them most gracefully. However, I do mention that they don't appear so weird in reality… I wanted the design kept simple as possible with minimal parts used, while also endeavoring to remain true to the color scheme, as well the era (that is using retired/old styled elements and colors, especially for pins, axles, and ball joints). I might return and fix them up a bit once there are new elements and/or more elements available in orange… The black Mata head came with Nui Rama (8537-1), Turaga Dume & Nivawk (8621-1), and Whenua (8545-1) sets, though I did not own any of them.
  15. Nice to hear that the discussion came to an agreeable conclusion! But can I hear a moderator say: "Locked!' or "… and locked!" or "…so locked!" I don't know why but I get a rise out of it so much! Also, just noticed the tag "1 quarter portion" :D
  16. aaawwwsuuummmly kewl! hey can u see my tahu revamp so can get more views plz! that be gr8 : ) thnx!
  17. I'm in love with the new TIE advance ! The angle of the wedge plates, details, and the overall stockiness just renders the perfect balance and flow that I wanted to see in this set! Oh and not to forget the hinged cockpit dish !
  18. As if we couldn't get enough of stud shooters Though it will certainly be the biggest stud shooter ever!
  19. Nice work—instantly recognizable!
  20. Yeah the parts I ordered were already shipped before the time that the hub was designed. Though I could make a small order as it is only about 218 pieces, but I do not want to run into the event where I have made significant changes to the design in LDD and the parts were order before that. It was not much of a hassle to acquire the pieces painlessly, and it I only took two orders.
  21. They will certainly work better than the original legs which were glued (naughty I for ever considering doing such a thing ). Most certainly I will have to! Ever since I increased the size of the feet, legs, and body—that will be an exciting experience . Referring back to the transition to the new scale, I recall that I almost settled with using the new legs and feet with the original design I had for the body—that would have looked weird! Though regarding the scale of the head in respect to the rest of the walker, a good aspect of perspective is that cheek bulges are closely the same size as the knees. Now, considering that the knees on my model are now 8 studs in diameter, I will inevitably have to use an 8 x 8 dish for the head, and therefore increase the scale slightly. Oh, I did not noticed that, though I was indirectly referring to cavegod's UCS AT-AT, since that MOC is widely known, and many have struggled with the difficulties of its weight, structure, and stability .
  22. Thanks Tommy! I too hope the legs will work out with the whole model, specifically the hub joint since I plan on suspending it freely from the drive train section without the need of support for the end where the leg will connect (like other MOCs out there). Hopping that the turntable will compensate for the torque perceived by the immense weight of the legs to significantly reduced wobble (as I experienced with my first AT-AT).
  23. Yes, it is actually found here on the site: "Still the coolest spaceship (Millennium Falcon MOC"
  24. CHOO CHOO! Look out, here comes the hype train! Next stop, you! Greetings everyone, The necessary parts have arrived to build one of the legs, though I was unfortunately too impatient to have waited until I have finished the design for the hub joint to order all the parts for the components (especially considering how quick it was designed). Well, it is certainly a learning experience ! At one point, after I finished constructing the leg, the build toppled over, hit the table that it was set on, and fell to the floor, then to my surprise the structure was entirely intact (except for some exterior details). Afterwards I tried the resilience of design in my own hands to observe how well it holds up against tension in certain areas, and remarkably it will require a substantial amount of force to damage it. The design has far exceed my expectations—it is practically indestructible. Below are the photos, yet some are a little fuzzy, as I am getting familiar with the new camera and using it under my lighting! if you did not notice the Stormtrooper To construct this in a coherent manner, I first painstakingly worked on the LDD model by arranging sub assemblies into groups, so that the program undertakes the building guide in logical steps. For the most part it manage to turn successfully, by that there are few to no occurrences of floating bricks or any skipping. Open the spoiler tab to see some examples Then it came down to making a decision whether to make this MOC available for others to build by providing the instructions, or keep this as my pride and joy. I am for the community on this one; let them have another Ultimate AT-AT ! But, before I get to that point for when the files will be available, I have to first finish the model, but also make some alterations to the design that do not require rare/retired, or painted parts, and where everything is connected (like the ankle for example). Here are my purist solutions Only minimal changes have been made to the aesthetics most significantly to the bottom of the leg and the structure of the arch. The final product results in an even sturdier design for the areas revised, replaces old elements with similar current ones (such as the wedge bricks), and establishes an connection between the bottom of the leg to the arch.
