    @Jim Maybe a trans-red, dark red or reddish brown will work better than the regular red? I agree that red looks a bit garish, but I also think that white doesn't stand out enough on the light background. Black could be another option, but the icon size could hide the pin hole. What about blue or dark blue, to match the colour of the schematic used in the Technic forum's banner?

    You still need to keep fit, even if you are from a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away ... An awful lot of work must have gone into getting everything working smoothly with such little room available. The exercise machine in particular is packed. However, I am quite worried about the influence Vader already has on you @MajklSpajkl - I doubt you would ever dream of cutting pieces if you were building a Jedi exercise machine

    Yellow parts are notorious for colour variation, more of my pistons (in sets from the last 3 years) are an "eggy" yellow so I wouldn't be too concerned about that. I would be concerned that yellow parts vary so wildly, but that's another thread... IIRC, 42000 is a 2013 set? Recent (2015-*) instructions have made black and dark blue grey much more discernible, but 42000 came along too early for that change.

    Oh go on then, I'll be the first one to say I don't like the rectangular headlights ... ... but apart from that it's brilliant, the chassis you've been working hard on has been put to good use with the part-supercar, part-torpedo bodywork Out of interest, how many frames went into the chassis? This supercar might even be stiffer than its real-life equivalents!

    I've got a (private) offer for a new 42056 at £187. After seeing the excellent work Didumos and others have put into improving the set and wanting to support a future line of large-scale supercars, I'm hovering over the buy button. But it's a good deal more then I've ever spent on a single set... Do I?

    They're a bit smaller - 42037 has 43.2mm x 26mm wheels with 81.6mm x 38mm tyres, whereas 9398 has 56mm x 34mm wheels and 94.8mm x 48mm tyres.

    Or sometimes, very, very dark grey? @Neko77025 If you're looking at RC, then you've made the right choice with 42030. But to go with the PF parts from that set I'd actually recommend 42029 or 42039 as bases to get a good idea of how suspensions, (distribution) gearboxes, bodywork, etc. are built. In your position I'd get the pickup truck first because it gives you a lot of red parts (a popular vehicle colour, particularly for supercars), and should be slightly cheaper than the Le Mans Protoype, but both are relatively easy to convert to RC. If you're looking at SBrick, the SBrick Plus Kickstarter has just gone live, but I'm not sure it helps you because even if it is cheaper you'll have to wait a few months for the Plus to be built and shipped.

    Seeing as I received the link this morning I assume it's fair game to post this. I've backed it already as I wanted another SBrick, so I thought I may as well get the Plus (and looking at how quickly the Early Bird tier is filling up I'm not the only one). If the lessons from developing the SBrick's hardware and software have been learnt then this should be another useful addition to the burgeoning ecosystem for Lego-compatible controllers. Edit - Aaaaaaannnnnd it's gone. The Early Birds were quick today!

    Thanks for the pictures CM4Sci. I see you've got a lot of (unwarranted) flack for this on r/lego, so let me counterbalance that with some gratitude. Not liking the look of the jet so far, it's less F-22 and more Thunderbird 2 ... in medium blue. The proportions look off as well but that could just be the angle of the picture.

    As someone who spent the better part of two years jobless, I can only offer my sympathies. Even if you manage to fill your time with other activities the guilt eats away at you, leaving you with a dreadful sense that you don't deserve to do anything fun or worthwhile because you haven't "earned" it. Your videos and posts have helped me as they have many other on here. Hopefully the next time we see you you'll have the funds and motivation to back up the talent we all know of and appreciate.

    Playing Devils's Advocate for a moment - do chromed pieces chip much or at all? I can imagine TLG not wanting to replace a significant proportion of chromed pieces* if they think they are more likely to be damaged, especially in transit. *Compared to the proportion of non-chromed pieces that are replaced.

    I wouldn't be surprised to find out that Blakbird doesn't like working in aerospace, but still does because it's the only job that gives him access to the massive buildings he needs to store his collection!

    I think they (Porsche) would be receptive to this idea. IIRC, someone here (Lipko?) built an A4 DTM and was invited by Audi to a DTM race to show off their model. I reckon the engineers were keen to see what they could learn from it! Congratulations to the shortlisted, runners up, and last but not least, to the winner Tamas - FWIW, I think the judges made the right call on the grand prize.

    Good luck finding it in stock though! You can also take a punt on Argos' eBay outlet - £4 for delivery but it should be a safer bet than trying to hop around stores to see if they have any left.

    Should there be a spoiler/warning for that photo? Half a lifetime on the internet has dulled my sensibility somewhat, but I imagine anyone eating really wouldn't want to unknowingly see that picture...

    Congratulations are in order. Remember to start the little on Lego as early as possible! Don't worry about not building anything - I'm sure we'll be seeing a 1:1 scale RC pram from you in about a year's time

    Those mods look really good, but you might want to fix those links... It looks like you've selected "photo for forum" when you uploaded the images, but "thumbnail for forum" is the better (working) option, as so: This also keeps the pictures under the 1024 x 768 pixel limit on Eurobricks while maintaining the link to the larger version on Fotos-Hochladen (the option you chose looks to me as if it would have exceeded this limit). I hope you don't mind me uploading one of your pictures as an example, I will remove it on request. Alternatively, you could use Flickr which automatically resizes the images to forum-friendly limits. It's not my personal recommendation, but someone is going to suggest it anyway

    No surprises that you're the one to spot the bargain first Grum I got it a fortnight ago for £90, if only I had waited I could have saved another tenner... Actually, if I hadn't bought one already I'd be tempted to get two copies and use the £20 off code (TDX-WYMJ). It's still £80 each, but it would be a quick and easy way to get another set of the tyres, red rims and lime pieces.

    I tried this recently and it definitely works. It's not quick so it's not much use for this fan, and the motor from the Renewable Energy set is a much better fit, but the M-motor can be back-driven with an XL.
