  1. This is a great point. Nexo was on the drawing board for Castle since 2009. It ended up coming out in 2016 because there was an opening for it due to a lack of Castle themes. Castle is pretty much always going to be popular in some form, as opposed to Western and Pirates, which have fallen in and out of favor.
  2. That wouldn't have worked imo. No need to repeat the villains for a second year, even if they are different variants. I don't think kids would like that a whole lot and having a whole other set of Stone Lieutenants (Ruina, Reex, Roog, Rogul, Krakenskull and Garg) was probably for the better. I think that Roberto should have been made into a figure, and that Jestro shouldn't have been a bad guy again after year 1. The Stone Monsters also should have received a base; that abandoned city they came from would have made for a nice $40 set.
  3. Great work! Elon Musk is one of my favorite people right now, I'm excited to see what he'll do in the future. Welcome to Eurobricks, by the way.
  4. Interesting, thanks for sharing. I don't have the magazine, could you possibly upload some screenshots of the more relevant information? The mirror image thing is not what I was expecting. I'm pleasantly surprised by that, and I hope that we see a satisfying end to this story, whether it is in the magazine or the show.
  5. The was browsing Brickset recently, and I came across this. There are definitely some warning signs of Elves ending, such as this year being labeled "The Final Battle" and the sets being exclusive to Argos. I wouldn't be surprised if both it and Nexo bow out this year to make room for some sort of Historic Theme in 2019. Although I haven't bought any of the sets, I think Elves has had a great four year run so far, and I can appreciate the sheer level of detail and creativity that go into every set. I remember how disappointed I was back when this theme was announced because we thought the sets were going to be Fantasy Era -esque, but it's really turned out to be a great theme. Do you all think that Elves is ending this year?
  6. Now that the theme has wrapped up, what's everyone's favorite vehicle for each knight? For me: Aaron: The Aero-Striker (Other options are the Stone Destroyer, Aaron's Battle Suit, the Rock Climber, and the X-Bow) Lance: The Hover Jouster (Other options are the Robo-Horse, Lance's Battle Suit, and the Twin Jouster) Clay: The Rumble Blade (Other options are the Falcon Fighter Blaster, Clay's Battle Suit, and Clay's Mech) Axl: The Rolling Arsenal (Other options are the Tower Carrier, Axl's Battle Suit and the Rumble Maker) Macy: The Bot-Drop Dragon (Other options are the Thunder Mace, the Underminer and Macy's Battle Suit)
  7. I don't think this will ever see the light of day, to be honest. The Lego Cinematic Universe seems to be crumbling.
  8. Thanks. Are there door hinges on the inside? That would make it even better.
  9. I see the "CybOrcs" concept as an indication that the Fantasy Era Trolls sold well. Hopefully we can get something like them next year. I think Goblins would be a good alternative as well, and we've even seen a perfect example in the CMF line. Could you link an image to that? I haven't heard about that piece.
  10. Welcome!
  11. We're pretty much always going to get that in year one of a Castle theme. It really only gets interesting in year 2 onward. In year 2 of Fantasy Era, we got the Dwarves and Trolls, and the following year we got the MMV. In year 2 of Kingdoms we got the villagers, and the following year we got the Joust. If Castle 2013 had gotten an extra year, it may have been regarded much closer to Kingdoms as their first years were pretty similar apart from their color scheme. I'm hoping that the next theme will have some sort of Fantasy elements in the first year so at least we got something different if the theme were to end without a second year.
  12. That appears to be a custom. Welcome to the boards!
  13. I'm really getting sick of the "doom and gloom" from Castle fans in recent weeks. The notion that "Castle is discontinued forever" is ridiculous and only serves to further the negative attitudes in this thread. Lego is not about to kill off one of their core themes for good because it isn't the most popular fad out there. Not every kid is into Star Warsâ„¢ and Super Heroes. If I have to, I'll dredge up some old Classic-Castle threads from 2003 when everyone was convinced that "Castle is discontinued forever" and had been transformed into a Bionicle theme. Some of you are typing up their 15-year-old posts verbatim. You want to know why they were convinced that Bionicle had replaced Castle? Because Bionicle was insanely popular and KK2 was the 2003 equivalent of Nexo Knights. Here are some direct quotes from those members when KK2 was announced: "Oh no! I hope this is not true. It's absolutely terrible. They are going to kill Castle Line... Please nooooooooooooooo! Not like bionicle. Please No! " "Well if these rumored sets do become Bionicle like in reality, I for one will jump ship from Lego until such time they come out with "real castle" sets. I will not purchase any Lego sets at all. I will begin another dark ages in protest. Perhaps if the Megablocks sales figures get even better, Lego will wise up to the fact they are losing their audience. I'd rather see no new castle stuff than to see it become Bionicle." "Castledore sets really suck. I am very displeased that Lego would try to market these rejects. Bionicle is one thing...these aren't even worthy to be called that! I guess those guys are laughing all the way to the bank. Shows you what the company's real desires are at. " "I, for one, dislike the pre-packaged story. With Classic LEGO Castle, you could name your knights, you could have them do whatever you wanted, you could decide even who was the good army, and who was the bad, and which of these was the protagonist, and which was the antagonist. Now, with these new knight-ish sets they're just telling you what to do. I am one of the few LEGO enthusiasts who prefers the old, imaginative way. I think LEGO is spending too much time on their story and not letting us "write"(actually, sometimes I do write stories based on my LEGO play, and they're not half bad, either) our own. Also, LEGO is giving too much energy to action figures, and not enough to real castle!" "How about organizing a global protest of LEGO products this weekend. I beg you, let us all go to our local stores, and purchase a set or two of those hated MEGA blocks. Let us tell LEGO of this. Who is with me? I'd take Vorgan's over Castlonical anyday of the week. Good Knights, Nobles, and Peasants, let us support the enemy this weekend." Those are real quotes from real people. Check the modern day parallels: - Bionicle is Ninjago - KK2 is Nexo Knights - Instead of "ConstrAction Figures" we got squirebots and robo-horses - People hated/hate the pre-arranged storylines, named characters, and "garish" armor colors - People insisted that both themes were not Castle. There's a poll on this very site from 2005 in which a plurality of members said that KK2 was not a Castle theme. And still, here we are, fifteen years later. Since that world-ending announcement, we have received two decent years of KK2, a fully-fledged Viking theme that no one saw coming, three full years of Fantasy Era, three years of Kingdoms and Castle 2013. It's currently 2018 and you guys are still repeating the same nonsense that should have been disproven long, long ago. Castle is not being discontinued forever. Chill.
  14. Agreed. It's most likely his opinion, but I'm seeing a lot of definitive statements recently that have no factual basis. Lots of "Nexo Knights was a complete flop" and "Castle is never coming back". Chill out, guys.
  15. One way to pull that off while retaining the "Nexoness" of the theme would be to give the knights vehicles based around carriages and siege engines with a touch of tech influences. Make the color palette gold, gray, brown and dark gray instead of the current neon colors and emphasis the medieval elements of the build rather than the sci-fi aspects. Any other regular medieval builds, such as an old Knighton Castle, could have transformable features (for when Clay or Merlok uses magic on them) but look like regular buildings at first glance. The Knighton Knights themselves could also just be regular human soldiers. I think that would be a nice compromise to satisfy most sides of this argument.
  16. I'd totally buy it. It would be a great way to wrap the theme up and make everything come full circle. If they had done the Lava Monsters in Year 1, Tech Infection in Year 2 and this in Year 3 (with the forest and sea monsters), I think the line would have been perfect.
  17. I think that was a joke.
  18. In the part of my post that you cut out, I mentioned that there were most likely only three or so sets in the "final wave", so we agree on that. Human Monstrox is more of a symbolic thing; getting him in his regular form would have made the theme come full circle, and kids would much rather play with an actual figure with articulation rather than a useless hologram. I'm still holding out hope that normal Monstrox shows up in a book or something, to be honest.
  19. Great! I can't wait to see the finished product. I'm kind of worried about the show, though. We haven't heard anything about it this year, and we haven't even gotten a trailer. As the theme is being discontinued, it's possible that they might not even bother to release the final season.
  20. That's true, but we got a small mech in the January wave instead of a brick-built monster. Given that it's the first mech to ever be utilized by Nexo bad guys, I assume that the Vampires use mechs instead of golems. Sidenote: Now that I think of it, we should still hold out hope for Tech Vampire figure packs. Themes that are on the way out usually still receive a figure pack of some sort in their final year, and a set of three Vampires would be a great way to army build them, as it's currently very difficult. @Nabii Help us out please!
  21. There were several indications given that we were going to get a sixth wave: - No Ruina in the Winter wave - New shield mold is made that is used exactly twice - Largest villain vehicle is a $30 set - No "general" figure for the Vampires - No vehicle for Macy - No structure of any kind for the Vampires - NO HUMAN MONSTROX We were most likely missing three sets. If I had to guess, they probably resembled the following: A mech for the Vampires in the $40 range (With a Mechbyter, the Vampire General, Queen Halberd and Lance) a full-size dragon for Macy in the $60 range (With Macy, adult Ava, Ruina, a Mechabyter and a squirebot, as well as a small flyer), and a fortress for the Vampires in the $80-90 range (With human Monstrox, a named Vampire lieutenant, a Mechabyter, a squirebot, Wizard Clay, human Merlok and Axl). That would have rounded out the theme nicely, and wouldn't have been too much of a commitment financially. To the people who are designing Vampire Castles in LDD, are your models going to resemble official Lego sets? I might be interested in building one if it fits in with the rest of the theme.
  22. KK2, Fantasy Era, and Kingdoms all came out during Harry Potter's original run. It's not going to interfere with it.
  23. $300? At best this thing is worth half that. It looks to be a little less than half of Ninjago City in terms of substance, and the fact that they share the same price tag is amazing.
  24. This is not a good argument. You have no sales figures to back that up, and the fact that the theme was extended for another year because of how well the winter 2017 sets sold indicates the exact opposite. Nexo was not a rousing success, but it was far from a failure commercially. I think we all know what your opinions of the theme itself are, so we don't need to have that discussion. @icm Just made a great case for how Nexo had an uphill battle to gain footing from the start, and expecting it to instantly become more successful than all of Lego's top themes makes no sense. Nexo had a normal lifespan, a decent sized fanbase, and filled its roll in Lego's plans for almost three years. For a non-licensed theme in this day and age, that's more than respectable.
  25. And here I was, thinking that the "Classic Castle" that everyone has been referring to was every faction from 1978-2014. That raises the question: exactly when does the "Classic" period end? Also, pining for a comeback of Classic Castle is pretty irrational. There's almost no chance that Lego would go back to those kinds of sets. For the upcoming Castle theme, we likely have three possible outcomes, Fantasy Era II, a theme that resembles Kingdoms, or a one-off like Castle 2013. Anything else is probably too far of a reach at the current moment.
