Time to hit up my local TRU. How deep do you think the discounts will be? I imagine that all of the Lego will be gone fairly early on in the process.
-
You know what he meant. At the current moment and at least for the immediate future Creator will not be doing that. If they did, there would be no reason not to put out a traditional Castle theme.

Any Castle series works for me.

TLG's disappointing 2017 financial performance
BrickJagger replied to AmperZand's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Same mistakes as 2003. I for one believe that this can be solved the same way as it was solved back then, but I'll wait for the hallowed licensed "evergreens" to start to lose money before I make suggestions. -
I could see them getting away with making a $120 castle that would be the same size as 2013's but have a slightly larger back tower that opens up to reveal an interior. A small "keep" type thing that just has a small livable interior is good enough for me.

I'm pretty sure that the first Castle to have both a drawbridge and a portcullis was the Kingdoms castle from 2010. Everything before that had a drawbridge/door combo, and portcullis/door combo, just a portcullis or just doors. Your MOC is excellent by the way. I like the incorporation of the Nexo shields, I think that those will actually show up as details in the next Castle line. It's a little heavy on the piece count for not even being half way done, though. I think 1000 or 1100 is a good target for the full Castle. Could you try that?

New graphics are in the air - share your feedback
BrickJagger replied to Bonaparte's topic in Forum Information and Help
I've been on here for over three years and I haven't known about that feature until now. Thanks! -
Lovely! I appreciate how you gave some of the buildings interiors, IMO a good interior is just as important as a good exterior.

The Fall banner is still showing up for me for some reason. Is anyone else having this problem? -
Welcome! Glad to see another Nexo fan on here. Have you check out the thread yet?

In Memoriam: Remembering Nexo Knights
BrickJagger replied to Robert8's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
This is objectively true. Didn't know that...might have to take a look at that thread again. Having an evil human faction would be interesting, but it would never happen. Why? blah blah blah something about kids not understanding that the monsters are actually good and all that. The usual. -

LEGO Nexo Knights 2018
BrickJagger replied to Peppermint_M's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Recently picked up the Hover Jouster, Rolling Arsenal, Tech Wzrd Showdown and a King's Guard Bike polybag from 2017 to round out my collection. Some thoughts: - The Hover Jouster is a really nice set, but it's a little smaller than I expected. Still, I like the concept and it looks nice alongside the others. - The Rolling Arsenal is better than it appears in the images. It's a little top-heavy but it still rolls well and it has several nice features. The interior can fit up to four fully armored Knighton soldiers when you take out the rover, so I have repurposed it into a type of troop transport. The set is a little pricey for its retail of $60 but I picked it up at 20% off so I can't complain. - The Knighton Bike is a decent polybag. It rolls well, but it's too close to the ground and the knight can't really "aim" his lance, largely due to the armor piece. Still, it's a nice figure and it looks good flanking the hover-horses. I haven't built the Tech Wzrd Showdown yet, I'll post again when I do. I've really enjoyed this line and these might be the last sets I get, barring a possible battlepack if Lego decides to release one somehow. This, however, will be a good opportunity not only to stock up on a few old Castle sets, but to save money.- 1,601 replies

The Future of Lego Space. (opinions, ideas, discussion)
BrickJagger replied to Trekkie99's topic in LEGO Sci-Fi
Oh my god...you guys got screwed. Literally all of those choices were actually related to Sci-Fi, except the one they picked. Not only can Lego not give you a theme, they won't even give you a simple gift-with-purchase set.- 991 replies

I know it's fun to catastrophize, but let's not get carried away here.

I actually think that’s part of the appeal. Kids here in the US are interested in Castle-themed products mostly because of the imagination they inspire. We don’t have any real Castles over here, so kids generally haven’t seen too many in person. It’s more fun for some kids to play with things that they don’t see in their everyday lives.

I think that Goblins would be a good choice for the next theme's villains. The Trolls seemed to have done pretty well, there was a Goblin in S13, and there was an entire faction of Orc/Goblin creatures in the prelim art for NK. If they made a Goblin faction in the same vein as the S13 figure I would be happy.

If Lego is really going to be fickle enough not to make a Castle theme during "The Wizarding World"'s run, the least they can do is make another Viking theme or a Roman-type theme. Nothing too crazy, just five or so sets with a couple of creatures and stuff.

If you're Lego, you would figure that it would be in your best interest to retain every market you have, no matter how large or small it is. Die-hard fans of the company are good to have at any point in time, and throwing them a bone every once every couple years would be a good idea. Instead they seem to be ignoring those fans, which is not good business.

This actually fits more in line with what I was trying to get at than when I typed it, thanks Itaria. Lots of AFOLs are fans of one of those three themes, sometimes two or them or maybe even all three. When Lego is not producing those kinds of sets, they're less likely to buy sets in general. Most of them don't like Nexo Knights because it's nothing like regular Castle, and therefore won't buy sets from that theme. I understand that. I just don't think that Lego is giving fans of those themes a lot to work with. You could point out a set here or a part there that somewhat feels like a Castle set, but it's not the real thing. I get no more enjoyment from buying an in-house Castle wannabe than I would buying a clone brand Castle. It's just not fun. One could make the argument that Lego doesn't need to cater to fans of these themes anymore because there aren't too many of them and they're only fans of 80's and 90's themes. That is not the case. Fans of KK2 are adults who can spend lots of money on new Castle sets that they did not have as kids. Pretty soon, fans of Fantasy Era and even Kingdoms will be able to do the same. Lego needs to keep the cycle of Castle sets moving so they retain that audience, however "small" or "insignificant", because they tend to be loyal supporters of the company itself, something that a decent chunk of Superheroes or Star Wars fans could not claim to be. No offense to anyone who is a fan of those themes, I'm talking about casuals who pick up Lego sets because they represent a Star Wars movie or their kid is into Iron Man and would love any toy related to the Avengers.
