Settlement: Nova Terreli, Nellisa, Eslandola
Elostirion replied to Kai NRG's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
As Challenge Four starts on Nellisa, Nova Terreli is offering some rewards for members of all nations: * 10 DBs for every entry taking place in Nova Terreli * if licensed: full licensing fees up to 50 DBs * 5 DBs for every other entry on Nellisa (10 DBs if licensed) Conditions: * you have to match the visual appearance of the city / island * post it in this thread (or the Pontelli-thread) and submit it here * MOCs may not go against Eslandola (e.g. a Sea Rat stealing from the treasure will not be rewarded) * Payments will be made in October- 81 replies

[COR - Aug FB3] The 'Red' School, Weelond
Elostirion replied to Ayrlego's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
I love those MOCs that go beyond national boundaries! Also the design is great as it fits both Corrington and Weelond really well. The interior is well though-out and uses space really cleverly. Als the roof technique is fantastic - looks really well and is simple to reconstruct - I might borrow that idea some day. ;-) -

This is simply one of the most fantastic MOCs I have seen. Absolutely amazing work.

If Ska provides the ruleset I could definitely write a web-based tool applying the rules, for anyone to use. Even that everyone could simulate his own journey. Or whatever. But I assume Ska does not want that....

[ESL - FB] Granite for Cocovia
Elostirion replied to Elostirion's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
My idea was: During the prospecting efforts someone had been here to crack out some parts of granite and check if they are good. Otherwise we wouldn't setup a quarry, right? So some granite blocks lie around. Then there is a pickaxe and a shovel, both tools you need here. Doesn't matter whether they are from three months ago or from the current workers. The wheel is from the old prospecting efforts. But you are right, it seems a bit out of place indeed...- 4 replies

I want to question the size requirements for a "Viceroy's Palace" (biggest version of Residence). Cost: 300 DBs (10% of other "royal" properties which are at 3.000 DBs) Yield: 15 DBs (3% of other royal properties which are at 500 DBs) I think that the minimum size requirement for a "Viceroy's Palace" should be no more than 48x48 (23% of other royal properties at 100x100). Also I think the size requirements for the other residences should be adapted, my suggestion is: small: 12x12 medium: 20x20 large: 32x32 Reasoning behind that is that a) the yield really sucks b) residences are usually "dense" MOCs of one house consisting of many bricks, unlike e.g. a factory or plantation with much rather "unused" space. Sure, you can always add a garden etc., but that's rather limited for cities as well... What do the officials think?

Dear Ibn al'Sayeed, I have received notice from my chief mining officer that the granite quarry has been freed of all the undergrowth, and that our men are now ready to get the stones rolling - towards King's Harbour. As a compensation for the delay I have sent three months worth of our estimated income to the Royal Society of Natural Philosophy. I assume you are going to claim the license for the quarry, as you have already bought the claim for your prospecting efforts? My warmest regards from the Castillo of Nova Terreli Juan Alfonso Fontonajo

After Montoya's men had prospected for the finest minerals near King's Harbour on Cocovia and found none of those, they decided to join forces with the Fontonajo Mining Ventures to extract some of the finest granite from the mountains close to the prospecting scene. However due to other activities the Fontonajos could only send some men now. What they found were no longer the bare mountains ready for their stones to be cracked out, but rather a green wilderness. Fascinating how much two months of unhindered growth can do. "Armed" with knifes and machetes the men had to do lots of hard gardener's work to get rid of all the plants, before they could even start to set up their granite quarry. After some days they did, and now the fine granite will soon be available for all new inhabitants of King's Harbour.

Reference MOC To King Fernando - Augusto VII of Eslandola Your grace, since the viceroy has left both the city of Nova Terreli and the island of Nellisa on his quest for the fountain of youth, I could observe certain tendencies of unrest within the people of the island. As mayor of our greatest city in the new world I feel obliged to fulfill my duty towards my beloved country and uphold the order in the city. Today I have reinforced the troops of the Castillo de Nova Terreli. The garrison has given us a warm welcome and was more than happy to have us alongside them. My own son Juan Alfonso is now commander in chief of the Castillo. Please be reassured that I will always do my very best to uphold the Eslandolan values in the new world, and remind the people who they owe allegiance to. Eslandola's most loyal servant Román Esteban Fontonajo, interim-governor of Nellisa Mayor Román Fontonajo, his son Juan and their soldiers enter the Castillo The garrison opens the doors and warmly welcomes the mayor of Nova Terreli Juan Alfonso Fontonajo, new commander of the Castillo, on top of its watchtower The Golden Nellisei, a private army of the Fontonajo family (will license a platoon)

The mixture of micro and large MOC works out perfectly, and I find it quite amazing to see how you managed to MOC the same micro both intact and burning (and the burning one is fantastic).

[COR - FB] Preservation of Food, Sm Artisan
Elostirion replied to SilentWolf's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Fantastic work. You have improved so much since you started here, it's absolutely amazing to see. In poth photography/presentation as well as the MOCs themselves. Just keep it up, please! The exterior is nice. The small bay-windows at the side bring enough variation and the trapdoor towards the cellar makes it really interesting. The interior concept with the story behind it is well thought-out, and the execution is flawless. So many nice details, especially those furniture pieces are surely inspiring. Fantastic addition to BoBS! -

I forgot to comment, but will fix that now: A great lightnouse, absolutely lovely MOC! Yellow and white work out perfectly, the green surroundings are beautiful. The only thing I think it might lack is elevation in the terrain: Usually lighthouses are on top of a small hill or sth. at the cliffs, so that they stand higher than the rest and can be seen more easily. As for categories: I think artisan might fit if you bend it a bit, fortification might fit as well even with some explanation. But I mainly think a lighthouse is for commerce. What better commercial activity could there be than supporting the trading fleet?

It looks fabulous. The stairs and the small table are looking superb, the anchor hanging from the ceiling is a great touch, and that small treasure chest just works out perfectly. Really nice MOC, looking forward to more of the story.

Fantastic MOC, I really love the idea of just showing the facades. Also the marketplace and the whole scene are full of life, great to look at. I would have loved to see it with a non-white background, though. Some light blue or light grey could have added some more contrast and put more focus on the actual MOC.
