  1. Ok, this is my first ever MOC and non TLG modular. I am planning a larger 32x32 modular at the moment, but I wanted to design and build something small, as practice if you will. I found a 8x16 basplate in the kids collection and used this my inspiration. What can I build thats 8 wide and wont look out of place. So I decided on a 'Victorian' publi toilet, like the ones found in many English towns. I am really pleased with how its turned out, learnt some stuff and I've got some ideas to detail it further, like a decal that says 'Gents' to go above the door, however I dont know how you make these? I hope you like it and I welcome all feedback. More pictures on my Flickr account. melbs' city

Just caught up with this layout. Excellent work.
  3. That Super pack was sold on offer in some stores in Europe, that might explain the good price.
  4. Hi Colin, The link to your project is not working.
  5. I was about to purchase them both and discovered the same on the UK shop.
  6. Yup, I like it too. Shame there aren't any 1x1 masonry bricks. Out of interest what was the cost of these vs the modified 1x2's?
  7. Amazing amazing amazing. I am halfway through MOC'ing my local Starbucks in LDD after seeing this masterpiece, I don't think I will bother now. Great work.
  8. That Alien Queen... she is hot.
  9. On the box for this thing it should say: Number of pieces: "Too big to swoosh". Totally amazing work.
  10. I think that sums it up for me, I thought I would love it, although I didnt hate it. But man that spreadsheet... I also got fustrated with Bricklink. If I buy stuff from my wanted list, it would be nice if it removed it from the list for me. I over ordered massively it seems. You're right it looks great, and so strange to see a model I have only seen in pictures, now standing on my shelf. I am about to bricklink my own MOC, somehow the thought of BL'ing something more unique appealls to me. I made the same subs apart from the 1x2's and 1x6'sbricks. I went with 1x4's and it was a mistake in my opinion. The 1x2, 1x6 combination offers better structural intergrity. Good luck with yours!
  11. I am nearing the end of my GG Bricklinking journey and I have to say, I don't know if I have enjoyed it or not. I am about 30 parts short of completion now and its going to mean a few tiny BL orders. I think I've kept it under £350 inc shipping.
  12. I saw this on the IDEAS site.Totally love it, I would love to own one of those. Supported with Cherry's on top. Well done, its amazing.
  13. Nailed it!
  14. Excellent, I love it.
  15. It truly is a work of art, lovely ray.
  16. I am also new to MOC'ing. My eldest son has finally got fed up with me using him as an excuse to get his lego out :) Whilst I would love to 'borrow' my sons vast lego collection I want to build my own, nice, new, clean, unmarked collection of bricks to build with. So before taking the plung I have been using LDD to design modular buildings. I am so pleased withe results I have started bricklink the parts. Also on advice here I went and bought a preloved Tower Bridge set. Its 4000 pieces and I reckon you could spend many hours just building stuff from this one set. SO know i have a nice foundation of parts to get started with and I hope my first MOC taking shape in the plastic bricks. So yes play with LDD if you dont have the bricks yet.
  17. I recently found a few copies on the 2000/2001 catalogue, which I still consider to be fairly recent ;) But wow do the sets look 'vintage' already. Thanks for sharing. I did even know about the Wild West sets.
  18. Love the use of round tiles for pavement. Lovely build.
  19. The full length windows are in keeping with the original. Although the real building has thesehas french doors, with bars across them, like a balconette. As I said my LDD skills arent great so I'll add these on in the build, that should make them look a bit less 'windowish'. Interior wise, I am thinking Bar on ground floor with a raised seating area, some more seating by the stairs. 1st floor will have a balcony over looking bar, more seating and a pool table. I wanted to include a tiolet at least (insert drunken minifig) but will see what space is like when i have some bricks on the baseplate. Still have issues with that clock tower. It's six sided rather than a round tower. have more ideas that will require raiding the kids stash for hinges - I'll wait till they are in bed ;) Glad you like the colours, I was worried the new dark red might look too red, but against the black it looks ok in LDD. Awaiting BL and PAB orders so I can build the ground floor.
  20. Figured out the Flickr image thing! I am not so happy with the roof line, however it is the same as the real thing. Poetic license might be needed. The Emporium, Fleet Pub by Crustyfur, on Flickr The Emporium, Fleet Pub by Crustyfur, on Flickr
  21. My brain fails me, I can't work out how to add these images to the post, so instead I have stuck them on my Flickr account. https://www.flickr.com/photos/68557308@N02/sets/72157650040935347/ Had an idea on clock tower today, which was the result of a 'feild visit'. Will try and add that to the LDD files.
  22. Project GG is going well. I have about 1800 parts now. Swapped out the sand green 1x8's for 1x4's. The grooved 1x2 have been my most expensive purchase. I managed to source about 700 parts from my own collection of spares. I am collecting some new baseplates from the town this morning, they seem to be hard to get hold of at the moment. Anyway, once in my possession I am going to start building. I can't wait any longer!
  23. Thanks guys, I'll post some higher resolution images on Flickr later. Here is an image of the real building. Obviously I cant get the whole thing in on 32x32 and the ground floor colour scheme has changed to black since it was taken. http://www.useyourlocal.com/imgs/score_pubs/600/211210-072956_empo.jpg
  24. There is a Victorian building in our town that was the original 'department store', when the Victorians first set up home in here. It was called the Emporium and later the Old Emporium. I don't know the exact date but the building went from being a shop, to a pub. It is built on a corner on the 'High Street' and is two stories high with a clock tower on the roof. This is my first MOC. I have been planning in LDD as it made kinda sense, as i'd have access to everything, my only issue is user error. I know how I want to detail but I just cant seem to manipulate the program. So I'll use this as my shell and detail by hand in the flesh/plastic so to speak. There is quite a bit i want to add, notably the clock tower is missing from my designs. I just dont know how i want to attack this, so I am going to get the bricks out over the weekend and have a 'play. I would welcome ALL feedback. I am planning on making the doors a bit like those on the Palace Thearte modular as they are identical to the real doors on the pub. These arent shown in the LDD files. I also struggle with detailing the corner pilar. I dont know, maybe it will look fine built and I am just being over critical. This is literally the first thing I have ever designed in detail, so I am still very much learning from you guys. Cheers
