  1. Because it's a film/ franchise that is important to me. Its something that I have valued my whole life (I'm 34) essentially. Overall in so sick of Hollywood recycling the ideas of yesterday just make a buck (which is exactly why this movie even exists). Every year we get 5-10 major remakes, and pretty much all of them suck. Not even remotely worthy to carry the franchise. Honestly I miss the days of endless sequels. Sure you know they are going to be inferior to the original, but at least it's a continueation of the established cannon. Starting over is such a cop out. Besides, as a fan, you have been on this journey with the films, and in many cases the overall story that is being told over the course of the series is never really resolved. So it's essentially left on a giant cliff hanger, all because studio execs decided to "reboot". But beyond all that, remakes and reboots are (at least to me) like having a new band that's called The Beatles. Instead of John, Paul, George, and Ringo we have 4 new guys. But yet they go around calling themselves the Beatles and are playing the famous songs. You're not the beatles, you are just a cover band. This movie is not The Ghostbusters, it's a cover band pretending they are the Ghostbusters.
  2. I can only speak for myself, but for me it is 100% because it is a reboot/ remake. If it were the same movie, but a sequel to the original films, I would support it. Sure, I would probably feel it is the worst of the 3 movies, but at least I would find value in it. Which is the exact opposite of how I feel now. But Ghostbusters isn't the only one, I love plenty of franchises that were or could be, rebooted that would anger me just as much. Take the A Nightmare on Elm Street remake. I hate and despise that film as well, it's Robert Englund or nothing for me. That remake has killed (or severly damaged) that franchise as well. But if they remade/rebooted Aliens, Back to the Future, Star Wars, and plenty others I would be just as outraged. But I'll be the first to admit that it's a case by case scenrio, some films benefit from reboots, others it tarnishes. Take Godzilla, I have no problem with them rebooting that, same goes for James Bond. I know where you were going with your comment, you feel it's because they are women. While I can't speak for the everybody, but for me that is NOT the reason. Like I said, if this were a continuation of the previous films, but keep the cast in tact, I could find value and even enjoyment with it. But having said that, someone uploaded the final 12 minutes of the film on youtube and I watched it. Which IMO it's not very good at all, very average trending towards bad. And I would still feel that way if it was a sequel. The climax in Ghostbusters 2 is far superior. Let alone the original, Its not even in the same ball park.
  3. Ok, so tell yourself it's doing good to make yourself feel better if that's what you need to do. I'm an honest person, a realist, so I admit it's not doing horribly, not fantastic 4 bad, no. But not nearly like it was intended to do. You do realize (well clearly not), that this film was supposed to AT LEAST pull in 500 million, and it's no way in HELL reaching that. Honestly it will be lucky at this point to clear it's 150 million price tag. Which that's not including promotion, some estimates have stated they spent another 100 million on promotions. So this film really needed to make 250 million just to break even. A film that loses money is the definition of a flop. Which you didn't include promotions, which is somewhere around another 100 million.
  4. It's flopping at the box office. Im not sure how people on here (and other places) are claiming its a success. It finished 2nd in Its opening weekend, then 5th in week 2. It will surely be out of the top 5 for good this weekend. The film will be dead within a month. People are claiming "its perfoming great as a comedy" in terms of numbers. But the thing is, it's not a traditional comedy, it's a summer blockbuster. It has a blockbuster budget, and might very well not make it's budget back. Or if it does, barely makes a profit. Not blockbuster type numbers for sure. As a summer blockbuster, this film is flopping, plain and simple. Facts are facts folks.
  5. The GB Firehouse is an absolutely AMAZING set. Yes it is pricey, but I still say it's worth every penny. The thought that Lego is declining, yet they released THAT set this year is ludicrous. I would say it's easily one of the 5 best sets Lego has ever produced. Its a modular on steroids. Far more detail than ANY of the modulars we all love so dearly as well. Even if you don't like Ghostbusters, passing up this set will be something you regret down the road. It could easily be reconfigured into a tradtional firehouse, if GB is not something you like. Yes it's expensive, but again, it's worth it.
  6. Looks like shit, it's gonna be Shit.
  7. Shhh!!! That's our little secret.
  8. Thanks man, I appreciate it. Its a LOVE. Only getting bigger too!!!
  9. Wow!!! I wish Lego would make an official set similiar to this.
  10. I will absolutley do an update video in the future, I have already changed it significantly. It is a whole 6x4 feet table at the end of it to make it longer. I also put the pirates off by themselves, made the forest 2 green baseplates larger, and made some other notable changes. As a whole I would say my table is about 18-20 feet long and 6 feet wide. I wanted more ocean and not to feel like everything is on "top" of each other. I also had to make room for Tower Orthanc and the black gate which I already bought, but won't be adding it until Christmas. I just wanted to make sure I had enough space for such a large addition. Thanks so much for the comments, I really appreciate them. You see lots of lego cities (on youtube) that people have on their basements, but I believe that this is the only historical type MOC that isn't part of a Lego display, or from a LUG show. Pirate was always my favorite theme, followed by castle, then LOTR. So it just felt natural for me to want to create something like this. I also have started my lego city as well, but it's in the very beginning stages, not near what other folks have created. But I do have the GB Firehouse set, Palace Cinema, Pet Shop, tower bridge and some smaller city sets already. So it's a decent start, but my historic MOC is my pride and joy at this moment.
  11. Thanks for the views!!! As for favorite goes, clearly it's all subjective. All 3 of those sets are beautiful, so you can't go wrong with owning any of them. But as you said, you never owned them, seeing them in person does make a difference imo. Their is just something about RIR that really appeals to me slightly more than the other two. Perhaps the fact that it's a pirate fort plays a role. Also the rope bridges are really cool imo. But it's really everything about it, the design, the colors. I could go on and on, but Eldorado is beautiful as well.
  12. Yes the base plate is a bit of an eye sore. I guess I've just gotten used to it, lol.
  13. Yes watch my review of 3 of their figs for more info.
  14. Here is my review of Freddy, Jason, and Ash that I purchased from the company Minifigs.me. I highly recommend this company for your custom minifigs. Enjoy.
  15. I switched the string out for a shorter string I had lying around.
  16. Thanks Azog!! As for the flag, Its still there, I didn't change it, even though I talked about it in the video.
  17. Here is my review for The Brick Bounty. I do a compare and contrast between this set and BrickBeards Bounty. Enjoy.
  18. What other parts seem out of place to you?
  19. Yes, you are correct. I bought it through Brick link and the seller was open about this change. I actually address it in the video. Truth be told, I would have prefered the correct baseblate, or at least the one that came in rock island refuge. But I got a pretty good deal on it, so I went with it anyways. Everything else about it was absolutely in fantastic condition. Even some of the minifigs were "tight" when moving their arms and legs, like they were new. I payed $150 for it, which is on the cheap side, especially given its condition. Usually finding this set for around $150 means the baseplate is cracked or it has some other flaw. Which yes, mine does technically have a flaw as well, but at least it's a substitution as opposed to something being actually wrong with it. Who knows, someday I might scoop up the proper baseplate. If I ever decide to sell it that is. Which probably won't happen, lol. Honestly the biggest thing that bothers me about having the wrong baseplate is that you don't see water around the edges. I actually corrected this by putting the smaller blue baseplate that came with Rock Island Refuge in front of it, and put small 1x blue plates around the edges, just so it looks like water all the way around it. As for the blue baseplate that goes with Rock island, I put the larger 32x32 one with that set. Because that one needs one as well, lol. The fact that Eldorado doesn't come with one, is a bit of a let down, and one of the things that makes Rock Island superior imo.
  20. Here is my latest video review of the classic, and beautiful set... Eldorado Fortress. Enjoy.
  21. After FINALLY owning BOTH ships, I can definitively say what I like and dislike about each ship. Neither one is great, both are good, both have flaws. But having said that, I do give the edge to The Brick Bounty. Why? Because of the sails, the crows nest, the plank, the anchor, the hidden treasure compartment, and blue coats. Yes TBB is smaller of the two in length. I was surprised it didn't have a rear hull section, I thought it was missing it. I had to check the instructions to double check. Only pirate ship (to my knowledge) to be assembled like this. Things I like better about BBB are the dark red color, the removable cabin section (they all should have this feature imo), the overall design of the rear of the ship (i really like the crossed swords), and of course the shark. In the end, the reason why I put TBB a head of BBB is because BBB has some serious flaws. The rigging on it is terrible. It is better than TBB in some areas, but the areas it is inferior to it really stand out. TBB is just more solid imo, nothing bad I can say about it. Plus the plank and the hidden treasure compartment are neat additions. Plus with the far superior rigging, and crows nest really swing the pendulum in favor of this ship imo. Even the awesome shark from BBB can't compensate for these improvements. In the end, I'm glad I have both ships. But I did decide to turn BBB into a red coat ship. I think it looks good as one, I put sails from the 2010 Imperial flagship on it, and "borrowed" the anchor design from TBB. I am leaving TBB as a pirate ship, the plank and treasure compartment make it the wiser choice imo.
  22. So you think it being absent from the latest catalogue is also an indicator?
  23. I've noticed the pet shop was ABSENT from the recent Lego catalogue I received in the mail, is this a sign of it's retirement? I haven't paid much attention to these sorts of things before, but I've had the pet shop on my radar for 6 months or so. I actually went a head and bought it through Wal-Mart because I was tired of waiting for it to become available through S@H. I hated not getting the VIP points, but I couldn't risk not getting that set. It hasn't been available on S@H since double VIP. It only says "temporarily unavailable", but does "temporaily unavailable" sometimes get turned into "sold out" and retired? Even though I already bought it, I'm just curious as to how these sort of things transspire, for future reference.
  24. Speaking of which, I need to post my review for Eldorado Fortress.
