I agree, 3 is easily the worst. Im going back and fourth between 2 and 4. 2 has higher highs, but lower lows. 4 is more consistent imo, but it's not nearly as epic either.

I get why people think 4 is the worst of the series, I've been watching all of the films a lot lately. But having said that, it's not nearly as bad as a lot of people try and make it out to be. It's very much on par with the rest of the series, it's not like it was a massive drop in quality.

Having said everything I've said in this thread in reguards to films 2 and 3, the scenes with the kracken might be THE best stuff of the entire series. So even though 2 has some things I don't like about it, it has some things I really like as well. If push comes to shove, I still prefer 4, but it's close. 3 is easily the worst of the series imo. But I still find a lot to like about it, but it is the weakest plot wise imo.

I agree, it would have been better as two films. IMO enough story is there to stretch it out. A ship fight between the QAR and Black Pearl would have been epic to see on screen. The reason it didn't was because they literally turned the Black Pearl into the QAR for the film (probably to save on costs). Even though most of the filming is done in sound stages, some shots are needed of an actual ship. Im sure it's pretty expensive to get ALL those different ships together. But having said all of that, it would have been cool to see. I was watching DMC last night, and another part I forgot about that I don't like is the scenes with the Islanders. That whole sequence got stretched out and lasted far too long. It doesn't serve ANY purpose (plot wise) and is over the top ridiculous. The way Gibbs and Will escape from those "prisons" is EXACTLY what I don't like about these films. I agree, everything concerning Davey Jones, the Kracken, and the Flying Dutchman in these films is great. But it's mixed in with scenes that I can't wait to be over. I don't feel the fourth film suffers from this problem. I also can't stand how they just "killed off" the kracken off screen. That's sloppy writing imo. The Kracken was freaking awesome and needed a proper on screen conclusion. Every time I watch that scene in AWE I can envision suits sitting in a room somewhere thinking "we have no idea what to do with the kracken, so let's kill it off screen."

@Rotondus, What about the 4th one makes you feel it is "easily" the weakest? The lack of Keira Knightly and Orlando Bloom?

I know that the films will have a certain amount of over the topness to them, you are right, that's a given being they are Disney films. Like I said earlier, I don't mind and even accept a certain amount of it. But when they cross the line into just plain rediculousness, that's where they lose me. Like I said before, the entire climax of the 2nd film is just too far out there for me. Which is a shame, because the rest of the film I like a lot. The third film, I feel is the weakest of the 4 story wise. That's why I rank it last of the bunch. I don't mind the supernatural aspects of the films, I rather enjoy it tbh. But this is the one exception. I can get in board with ghost pirates, zombie crew, Davey Jones fish crew, etc. But when Calypso grows to be 50 ft tall, I just don't feel it. Also I don't like where they took Elizabeth Swans character in that film, I am just annoyed by her after 20 mins or so. But these are just MY opinions. For the record I still Like those 2 films, even though it might come across that I don't. I just find the 4th to be superior is all.

LEPIN brings out Monster Fighters HAUNTED HOUSE (16007)
Captain Pirate Man replied to ericb's topic in Community
Well, just keep me updated on all of your purchases. -
So with in the last 24 hours I have watched both the first and fourth again. I mean really watched them, not just had them on as background noise as I did other things. Doing this only solidified my feelings that the first is obviously the best and the fourth is REALLY the 2nd best. For the life of me, I don't know why the fourth one gets the hate that it does. Obviously everyone's opinions are different, but 2 and 3 have a LOT of "silliness" in them that drags them down imo. 1 and 4 are more reserved. Yes they have some as well, but it's more believable, not quite so over the top. I still like 2 and 3, and really like the idea of Davey Jones and the Kracken. Those two aspects carry those films imo. Its the over the top ridiculousness of fighting on top of a run away mill that I just can't look past.

Ltfalcon, Have you used multiple sellers for your purchases in the past? Did you order your QAR from this seller also? -

@Ltfalcon, I just ordered through the same company you used. You seem to be having good success with them, plus you're a fellow American (which is helpful for me in regards to buying Lepin). I canceled my first order of the Imperial Flagship, the original seller I choose was making me nervous. I was the ONLY one to have bought a ship from them, and they were saying they wouldn't be able to ship until mid October, while yours had already shipped. DO you always buy from that company? -

I've seen reviews where people complain about the sails. I was already of the opinion that you might as well out the real ones on. What are your thoughts? Thanks man. I almost didn't even post that, just because I know many are so vocal on this subject. I mean, man I have a pretty damn impressive collection, and I am no where near finished. I just sorta look at Lepin as a way to get some of the sets that I felt were out of my reach. Take the Imperial Flagship for example, I've had that set in my wish list since I got back into Lego. But I can't spend $600 plus on it, no way. I can get A LOT more bang for my buck if I'm gonna spend that much money. Hell I could buy another GBHQ and Tower Bridge, that would be WAY more pieces than the Flagship. Sure I would always have a hole in my collection where the Flagship SHOULD be, but we all make sacrifices right? So for me, this is no different than buying a can of generic brand coke. Sure it's not quite as good, but it's a fraction of the price and I still got my fix. So at the end of the day, I'm not mad. -
Wow, just wow.

I know it kinda makes me the "bad guy" around here, but I couldn't help but order the Lepin Imperial Flagship today. I have wanted that set for forever and day, and it's just felt out of reach for me. I will replace the sails and any other parts that don't feel "right" to me. Obviously the minifigs will be tossed aside. This order is my Lepin "trial". If I am satisfied with the product and with ordering from Aliexpress (it's also my first time using that site), I will buy more. I am ONLY interested in retired products (I own the real GBHQ and we are buying the REAL Disney castle), but I also have my eyes on the Haunted House, The Black Pearl, Town Hall, Fire Brigade, Green Grocer, Grab Emporiam, Cafe Corner, Emrald Night, and Grand Carosel. I would also buy the Eiffel Tower and Statue of Liberty if they make them. I know many of you look down on this, but I have spent THOUSANDS of dollars in Lego, and Will probably spend thousands more. If Lego rerelease these sets, I would but them. But I'm not paying $600 plus for Imperial Flagship when I can but this one for $73 and out another 20 Or 3p into it and be completely satisfied. -
I can only speak for myself obviously, but I like channels that a Lego centric, but not just reviews based. Like I enjoy seeing peoples actual collections and MOCS, as well as reviews. But again, I like Lego to be the real star. That is one of my complaints with The Brickshow as of late, they spend to much time in front of the camera. I genuinely like the guys, I do, but I would cut their screen time in half. Another thing I would change, is the amount of videos they release. I feel like they put out to many videos. Sometimes less is more. Instead of having 5 updates a day, maybe only have 1 but cover everything at once.
