  1. I will probably get every set of this wave, if it happens that is. I won't pass up ANY future castle or pirate related themes anymore.
  2. Thanks. I'm actually in the process of adding another table to it. I want to make it bigger, so I can add more water, and put the Pirates off on there own. As far as the red and the blues go, I've always felt they were two clearly different factions, so it just made sense to me. I know a lot of folks mix them together as one, but to me, they are enemies, that just happen to be enemies with the Pirates as well.
  3. I thought about doing that, but I can't mix the red coats and blue coats. They HATE each other, lol.
  4. Who owns the rights to Marvel merchandise? I'm pretty sure I bought Fantastic Four and X-Men action figures in the Disney store before. So I don't know if they own Marvel out right now, or just the merchandise? But my point is, money is money. If the new X-Men film does well, why would you NOT capitalize off of that, if you are able to. I understand that they are competing film studios, but Fox can't make toys based on the films. But Marvel, and by extension Lego CAN make toys that are similiar to the film, but are based off of the comics and it would be completely legit. Just think about the one Wolverine Lego set released a few years back. It had Wolverine, his motorcycle, and a hellicopter (if my memory serves), sounds an awful lot like a scene for the first Wolverine film. Yet the set was still made.
  5. So if the new Xmen movie does well, Lego could decide to release some sets "sort of" based on it? Obviously they couldn't say "X-Men Apocalypse" on the package, but they could release a set with characters from the film, but just under the Marvel Super heroes line?
  6. @MAB, My wife thinks Bag End is better than Helm's Deep as well. So clearly those two are debatable, lol. But overall those are the 3 best sets.
  7. Any chance of getting psylock? My daughter really wants a minifig of her. Lego has the right to make ANY Marvel character correct? So it doesn't have to be tied to Xmen Apocalypse does it?
  8. To further elaborate, the 3 BEST sets from the entire LOTR and Hobbit theme are 1. Tower Orthanc 2. Helm's Deep 3. Bag End I don't think anyone could argue this tbh. These 3 are head and shoulders better than the rest.
  9. @Azog, Well, since I own most of both themes, I feel like I can answer this question pretty accurately. Let me start by saying, it's not really fair to LOTR to diqualify Helm's Deep. If you take that out of the equation, then yes Hobbit wins. But Helm's Deep is really equivalent to The Lonely Mountain, both were the flagship sets. Which I understand diqualifying Orthanc, because that was really a collector's type set, so let's disqualify that one, but not Helm's Deep. Keep in mind I'm only rating the bigger sets, not the smaller ones. The good LOTR sets are; Helm's Deep and Pirate Ambush (which I don't own). The good Hobbit sets are ; bagend and both lake town sets. But you really need BOTH Lake town sets. Advantage LOTR, but it's pretty close. My wife actually thinks Hobbit wins, so that tells you how close they are. The average LOTR sets; weather top, orc forge (i don't own), and the black gate. But you really need to buy 2 black gates, that's what prevents it from being a great set. The average Hobbit set; barrel escape set, Goblin King set. Advantage LOTR The not bad, but not fully realized LOTR sets; Mines of moria The not bad but not fully realized Hobbit sets; Lonely mountain, Dol goldur (which I don't own) Advantage Hobbit, by a lot. Final verdict, LOTR wins but it's actually pretty close. If you take Helm's Deep away, Hobbit wins imo. I am very bias towards sets that are buildings. Sets that take place INSIDE of something else, don't do much for me. Which this theme did A LOT of that.
  10. Well, my wife and I broke down and bought the mines of moria setjust so we can get a cave troll and Boromir. So that means the ONLY LOTR and Hobbit minifigs we don't own are the king of the dead, yaznig, the rohan horse master (forget his name), and a umbar pirate. I don't know about you all, but I have a feeling these minfigs are going to be some of the most sought after 10 years or so from now, making them some of the most valuable. Why? Because they are licensed figures, but they didn't produce a variety of different versions. Look at SW by contrast, how many Luke's or Vader's are out there? Not NEARLY as many of these guys. Just my thought.
  11. After FINALLY buying Eldorado, I would rank the BIG 3 as follows: 1. Rock Island Refuge 2. Eldorado Fortress 3. Imperial Trading Post Even though I put the ITP 3rd, does not lessen how much I like it. It just means if push comes to shove, I like the other two a bit more.
  12. I LOVED the LOTR and Hobbit sets. As a matter of fact I'm proud to say I own almost every minifig of importance (boromir is the only one I don't own yet). But I have all the Hobbits, all the dwarfs, all the baddies, elves, etc, etc. I am also proud to say I own all the major sets; tower Orthanc, Helm's deep, bag end 2 black gates, both lake town sets, city of Dale set, goblin king battle, and the lonely mountain. But Smaug is really the only thing that makes that set cool. Goblin King battle isn't all that good either imo. I also have quite a few other small sets, but they are no longer together. So ya, this theme was awesome imo.
  13. My latest Historic sets are Tower Orthanc and 2 black gate sets so I can make the whole gate. Im not opening them yet though, I'm actually saving them for Christmas. I know it's going to be hard to wait that long, but just knowing I finally own them, especially the tower, is good enough for me. Plus it'll make Christmas extra fun, and with me out of the way, my kids can get some extra presents.
  14. My latest are Eldorado Fortress and The Brick Bounty. Already out Eldorado together, now in to the bounty,
  15. Hard to disagree with that. I just bought Eldorado, I have NEVER owned that one before, so I may change my mind after I put that one together
  16. Thanks General Magma, build that set!!!
  17. Thanks man. The best huh? I tend to lead more to ships than forts myself, but this is a nice one for sure. It's really hard for me to pick a favorite between this one, Eldorado, and Rock Island they are all great in their own ways. But I do think those are the best 3, not counting ships of course.
  18. No habla es Espanol... JK. But seriously, I have no idea what you just said.
  19. I agree Smaug is awesome, he is in this video if you look hard enough
  20. Thanks so much Azog!!! It's great to get your feed back. I know there are a lot better builders, video reviewers, YouTube channels, etc, etc than mine. But I'm just a fan of Lego trying to do the best that I can do. I just hope people enjoy what I'm doing as well. Some of my reviews, really fill a void IMO. Sure maybe other channels have more professional equipment and what not, but a good portion of my reviews are of sets that not many, if ANY reviews actually exist. Sure some reviews are of sets that literally hundreds of people have already done, but not all. I am trying to help fill the void of classic Pirate and Castle theme reviews, as well as some of the clone brand stuff. Sure I do some of the newer sets as well, because I try to review every set I get, when I first get it, but they are not really my focus. I was and AM a classic Pirate and Castle fan first and foremost, they are my passion.
  21. It's really harder than it looks, when it comes to laying everything out. Even though Lego fits together perfectly, it takes a lot of planning and trial and error to make everything look cohesive.
  22. Thanks man!!! I appreciate it. I'm just glad I have room for such a display.
  23. Hello everybody, I've been waiting for a while to show everybody my collection or MOC or world or whatever you want to call it. I debated which thread to post this, this one or the Historic section, because you will see a lot of sets from BOTH sections in it. As well as MOC's and other odds and ends. Ultimatley I decided on the Pirate forum, because that is ultimately where my heart truly lies, and it is essentially the time period of my world. I am NOT a professional Lego builder, I have never been to or participated in any sort of Lego shows. The closest thing to that I have ever done is go to Lego land Chicago (which was great btw). Basically what I'm saying is I'm just a random side that LOVES Lego, bought a lot of sets (
  24. It's definitely one of the best CASTLES that Lego has ever produced. A must have for a LOTR fan like yourself.
  25. Thanks man!!! Like I said in the other thread, I am rolling the dice on the black pearl getting another run,so I went with this ship instead. Both are great, both have flaws, but I'm happy with my desicion.
