It could end up being pretty good. The beginning looks like it is going to have an epic feel to it.

Bricklinking 10210 The Imperial Flagship?
Captain Pirate Man replied to Colossus's topic in LEGO Pirates
By crazy, how crazy you talking? I was Just looking at the price of the flag, and holy crap. AVG is $35. I will be putting the old plastic flag on mine then. That flag isn't exclusive to this set either. -
I agree, I liked Anjelica better than Elizabeth. Don't take what I'm about to say it the wrong way, because Kiera Knightly is a very beautiful woman. But let's be honest she's no Penelope Cruze. So that "may" play a role in why I prefer Anjelica

I'm really thinking about going this route. What prices (besides the sails) will cost you a pretty penny? -
LEPIN brings out Monster Fighters HAUNTED HOUSE (16007)
Captain Pirate Man replied to ericb's topic in Community
Thanks for this. I pretty much share your sentiments, I am probably going to get some of the modulars that are no longer carried by Lego. Obviously they will have no value in the future like the authentic ones do, but that's not my main objective anyways. Sets like the Town Hall I would LOVE to have in my city, but are just plain out of my budget to own. Like you, I only plan on buying sets that are retired, if I can get the real deal affordably, then thats what I'm going to do. Sets that I do have my eye on are Green Grocer, Town Hall, Fire Birgade, Cafe Corner, and The Black Pearl. I might be able to buy ALL of these for the price of 1 of these on the after market. I am worried about the minifigs. I tend to be VERY picky about mixing fake minifigs in with real ones. They will have to be quality for me to consider it. -

Has anyone from the US ever had any problems with Aliexpress? -
I really don't know where all the negativity from OST comes from. Is it because Will and Elizabeth are absent? I would really like to better understand what people dislike about that movie so much. If you want to say it's "not as good as the first" Then ok I'll give you that. I just don't see any sort of drop from 2 and 3 to 4.

LEPIN brings out Monster Fighters HAUNTED HOUSE (16007)
Captain Pirate Man replied to ericb's topic in Community
I had a thought today while eating some cereal. I was eating generic cheerios, you know cheerios that are made by a different company. The ones that I was eating were Kroger brand. They are not called Cheerios because they don't have the copyright to call them cheerios. They were instead called Toasted O's, but are exactly the same as Cheerios except half the price. But that got me thinking about the Lego knockoff situation, and in all honesty how is that any different? Now using the image of copyrighted words and images, like Rey from Star Wars or Jack Sparrow. Now that is clearly in violation of copyright law. But making a generic copy of ANY Lego sets I don't see how is really any different than eating generic Cheerios. I can only speak for Americans, but over here we have generic versions of so many things. So much so that most people don't even bat an eye at them. I am just wondering how this is really any different? Yes Lepin using SW images in the box is clearly crossing a line, but if they repackaged the set, but kept everything the same... How is that any different from eating "off brand" Cheerios? I am asking this as a genuine question, not to be snarky. -
I've been watching these films a lot lately, they are My go to background noise when I am in my Lego Pirates world,

[MOC] Godzilla! (with instructions)
Captain Pirate Man replied to hachiroku's topic in Special LEGO Themes
I agree that "technically" Godzilla is charcoal grey or black. Yes green is the "supposed" color that is assumed, but it isn't technically correct. But as for Lego based sets, the grey you guys are using doesn't look right IMO. If you don't want to use green (even though a dark forest type green would look best imo) I think a mix of black and dark grey would be the way to go. I would only use the lighter Grey's for his scales. I just feel the grey makes him look more like Mechagodzilla. But none the less, your mocs look great -
I've never had any problems with the Lego site or getting my orders from Lego.

A mini-doll rant by a mini-doll fan
Captain Pirate Man replied to Soupperson1's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I don't disagree with what you said, and perhaps I came across a heavy handed in some of posts. I am not overtly against minidolls, or people that like them. To be completely honest with you, if I take the things MY daughter said about them, I would really not care either way about them. But that's the thing, I am basing my opinions on things my daughter and her friends said and I witnessed. When they were 7, they played with them. They played with minifigures more, but the minidolls DID get some play. By the time she was 9, they were a once and a while type thing, while minifigs were her go to figs for sure. By the time she was 10, she no longer liked or even played with the minidolls. Now that she is 11, she hates them, thinks they are "dumb," and doesn't like sets that have them. Seeing these kinds of changes out of you kid, will effect how you view certain toys. Honestly it's similiar to barbies, she won't have anything to do with those either. -

Not to not pick, but Godzilla should be green. I agree, he likes like baby Godzilla. -
A mini-doll rant by a mini-doll fan
Captain Pirate Man replied to Soupperson1's topic in General LEGO Discussion
@X105Black, I agree with everything you have said in this thread. I appreciate hearing another voice of "reason". I don't say that to imply that those that disagree with us are unreasonable. But I have found that minidoll supporters tend to be very vocal in there support of them. Which I understand, but at the same time I feel "some" take the criticism personally, which I never intend. Or they jump right to the "Lego tested them and are happy with the results" defense. Which ALL of that may be true to a certain extent, but like the both of us have witnessed, our older daughters lose interest in the mindolls as they age. I just don't feel these are isolated incidents. I bet this is a lot more common than many people would like to believe. -
