  1. I am excited about Tribal Girl, I really like the western theme (Am I right in thinking she would be Lego's version of a Native American, rather than going down the Islander route..?) TBH when I first saw the series 1 Tribal Hunter, he did not actually register as male, he looked how I imagined tribal girl would dress, roughly. So I am intrigued to see what how different the two appear...
  2. Me too, and I worried that they will not be technology savvy enough to get in time or maybe it will sell out ... I can see what will happen I will ask for it and I will have to buy myself a backup set just incase it doesn't work out... which kinda seems to miss the point of a christmas present :-(
  3. I have not decided for my own version... I somehow saw Daleks vs Cybermen as pawns on either side... (I know that doesn't really work) the TARDIS could be the queen and the weeping angles are the rooks for the badies...
  4. I am currently playing with my new pirate lego chess set and it occured to me that Doctor Who Lego Chess could be awesome... I'm going to make my own version, even it doesn't stand a chance of ever being released.
  5. Wow thanks! I must admit in my usual pirate scenes there is a lot less death and destruction; I mean everyone is pointing a gun or a sword at someone else, but no-one's ever pulled the trigger or stuck it in.
  6. Spooky stuff, if it were me I'd peg it back to the ship with the treasure! I like the use of the lighting, subtle and effective :-)
  7. Oooo this is an interesting topic, and full of pieces I have, I need to be more inventive with my MOCing. I am actually quite interested in the new ninjago theme... I don't have Ninja interest but some of the parts sound like they could make good pirate substitutes. I got that Kai drifter polybag set the other day, which I just tossed aside (I intended to sell it later or something) but then I ended up opening it and I was quite pleased with the black stud shooter which quickly became mini cannons, not too bad!
  8. Sure its cheaper until you start trying to make an order up to a minimum spend and then boom suddenly your cart it full of other things...
  9. Okay its not technically today... but yesterday I spent my time in the most annoying Lego activity... I clipped the top of my tiny-little-pieces-tray (its the inside tray of a Lego advent calendar) and flipped it over, sending teeny tiny lego parts all over the floor... and I had to spend ages finding them and sorting them back into the compartments. Which was a good thing in the end because now they are very organised... all the studs are together; all the 1x1 tiles and cheese pieces are together, etc etc its great... It will last a week, maybe less.
  10. Cool video, I might need to assess my own monster now collection :-)
  11. The detail on this is supercool. I am not usually a fan of fleshies, but I think the characters here are great, they seem more life-like somehow. And the clocks are cool.
  12. Fair enough, but its a wish list thread... and just something to comment on when pirate talk is getting, slow? I guess none of us really expect a pirate theme more than twice a decade nowadays! Not because pirates are not popular, more because they are not unique enough, any toy company can make pirates and they will all appeal to kids. I wish for more pirates, but in reality I guess the next big wave will come in 2019 as a 30 year celebration.
  13. Personally I would be absolutely fine if lego released some 90s-style pirate sets. I really glad you find the threads funny, because given that they are always the same, if you didn't it would be a big waste of your time :-p
  14. I like the way this scene is coming along nicely... Since you say you are going to re-build anyway... I would eventually swap out the mountain hut windows (I agree the set is great, but it needs tweaking to fit it :-) but in that configuration the hut is designed to open up, it would be cool if it still could do that in the next rebuild (maybe it can now, hard to tell). And if it were me I would try and capitalize on the empty space you have underneath the cabin, creating a cellar or a dungeon or something with an outlet leading out to the river and maybe a trap door opening up... I don't know something but since the space is there... :-) I really like the layout with all the characters doing their thing, would be interested to see your updates on expanding it :-)
  15. Oooo I just had another look again and noticed the wolf and Minotaur minifigure heads in the wall! So cool, I may steal that idea at some point :-)
  16. Haha all very funny!
  17. This is absolutely stunning... Every detail is fantastic and I love the collection of Captains upstairs, such a cool way of organising them, of course they would need a meeting every now and again. Argh, there is so much detail going on here I almost don't want to comment on one thing in fear of over shadowing the rest! But here goes anyway, The weather vain is inspired, Lego building need more weather vains (or is that just a British thing??) but it was the first thing I noticed and it awesome. Then the chickens worshipping the menu chicken, I love it! The whole outside exterior of the building, with the tomb... Very cool The building- I really like your windows they work really well! I love all the animal scenes going on, poor cat. And the guy eating the scorpion... Lobster (Does Lego make a lobster, they should)? And the roast parrot, why not! And the characters in your place are just cool, I could just keep looking at the scene for hours (but I really should do some work today)
  18. Okay I read the Ninjago 2016 discussion, how useful could the sky pirate minifigures be... If I remember correctly the sky ship is piloted by a snake? however the island description sounds okay... Worth buying for the parts... I would probably pick something from this line up as I quite liked the take on the pirate flag, but that's it.. Probably I don't think I need sky pirates, do any of the boats have real sails or is everything all jet and air balloon powered?
  19. Thanks, this was partly done out of necessity, since I had a shortage of blue epaulettes and an excess of gold (you can also see a guy hiding in the back wearing gold too. But I can fix this as I have an unopened 2009 advent calendar and I am sure the redcoats in that will come with spares. I will probably keep the officers in gold anyway. Sure he had to be, he has been around the longest, definitely more senior :-) (unfortunately not one from my own childhood but I still like him a lot. These are from the BR toy soldier minifigure http://brickset.com/article/6420 The torsos are a little cartoonish but I wanted to incorporate them somehow and thought the would work well for children. I also think the legs are pretty good and want to use the for something else... So I might pick up a few more, they are 15nok in the BR shop, so while they are not perfect they are cheap enough to play around with.
  20. So I am very envious of everybody's army in this thread and today I acquired 2 more soldiers for my little army of redcoats... I thought "yay, this is it I finally have enough to squash the bluecoats and pirates and whoever else comes along". I got out my 48x48 stud baseplate and started to line the little guys up... well I made two lines and looked kinda sad and pathetic and not nearly as large and impressive as I had hoped for. But undeterred, I had a bit of a reshuffle, grabbed a smaller baseplate and decided to show them off anyway (I mean the army can only get bigger right?) So here it is my newly formed modest little bunch of redcoats RedCoatsRule, on Flickr
  21. Well I changed mine a couple of days ago for the first time... previously it was the Lizard Guy holding a frog with a green stud background, why? because I liked the green theme (and I have a thing for the frogs). Now its the lizard Guy holding a frog riding a crocodile, with Clive the Fabuland crocodile riding a crocodile... why? because I wanted to continue the green theme but I did not like the previous background anymore and wanted a better picture... that's it. Agreed, you need to share your story too.
  22. This? But Time of the Doctor was an assumption based on the minifgure content... I believe
  23. That might just be me going a bit OTT with colour contrast in photoshop... the colours can look different when editing... As to the interior I took my inspiration from a recent visit to Ay!K -ARR and some leftover bits from building TBBT set :-) I'm glad you like I will definitely be building more castles (I just got approval for adding things that include wizards and dragons to my collection, because they are cool... which will open up my options)!
  24. Great build :-) It makes me want to strip all my knights and line their amour up in neat little rows and make my own armoury!
  25. Oh I like the use of the space helmet too, very clever. Awesome colour scheme for a dragon too :-)
