  1. I bought 2 thanksgiving sets (they were just too good not to) in the UK over the weekend, plus I managed to locate the halloween set while I was there too :-)
  2. I like it, definitely an incentive way of harvesting gold and very gruesome. Cool build :-)
  3. Wow these pics look so good, now I am really excited :-)
  4. I was going to suggest watching Black Sails, as a form of passive research...
  5. Haha I look forward to the next installment then!
  6. I like Redcoat's expressions and the bullet ridden wall... really cool build! I do question whether Captain Red Sails should be allowed to get away with just falling asleep at the end
  7. This is my little haul, bought for me from a Toy fair at the NEC, Birmingham (UK), it all came in at just under £18, not too bad. IMG_8965, on Flickr I'll need to do a bit of switching round with the Imperial Soldiers, I actually have the correct hat for Governor Broadside, it came on a vintage fireman, so all sorted And one of the parrots is destined to become a zombie parrot for the Zombie captain
  8. Ooo I've booked to go to Legoland (Billund) next month too, so I am looking for good info out there, have not found much yet, I am guessing tips above work for all Legolands? Also in attempt not to completely hijack the thread to ask about different parks... Can I add, are the Apps available for Legoland worth downloading... I noticed there is a new one, halloween-themed one, which includes some kind of reward when you visit? Any ideas on what this is?
  9. Oooo I like the fort, you seem to be going for another non-right-angled build again? I decided to post an WIP on my large PTV entry, all blurry (because it looks way cooler that way and I am playing with photoshop) PTVBlurryIslandWIP, on Flickr Plus a bonus boat that my other half made for the Zombie Captain... I had to dismantle it for the parts, but I'd like to make a bigger version with some new pieces I have recently acquired... MyLittleZombieShip , on Flickr
  10. Sure but since the bbc has update the Dalek look countless times, I think its okay to have a bit of variation... last episode we even saw the different models interacting so you could even have different versions all in one scene and still remain true to the show. But then you just get lots of different factions in one massive army of Daleks :-)
  11. Hmmm so it would be perfectly possibly to fill the maximum-sized carry on luggage with PAB cups filled with tiles and exceed the max weight limit (assuming 10kg), I would not have thought that possible... good to know. Last time I visited the London store they were perfectly fine with me taking my time to fill my PAB cup, asked me what I was going to build, offered to keep the lego behind the counter while I shopped, very helpful. Think all lego stores must be pretty used to AFOLs. Let us know what you buy, going back there myself this week (I hope), so I'd like to know what's available.
  12. I like it, now I am just looking at my set and trying to decide if its worth making the same MOD, I'm tempted, but I don't have that many pieces to spare... hmmm, bet it makes dusting easier though!
  13. I was going to suggest that you should give them some water in there, but when I did a google image search for "caged circus lions", it seems your build is pretty accurate and they don't usually get water.
  14. Welcome to Eurobricks, Your son has good taste in LEGO, looking forward to seeing some of your pirate creations! I also never got an epic ship and am kinda making up for it too, have fun chasing the ships :-)
  15. I too like the new wave of pirate lego, because a) its what I was waiting for when I came out of my dark age (aside from more CMF which is what got me out of the dark age) and also when I compared it to some of the 2009 sets, and b) I like the fact the fort was built from bricks not those large panel pieces. The reason I moan (oh no, do I moan?) is because I am greedy and I want more, more lego, here, now all of it... but I know from experience that when I flood my collections with new stuff, I stop appreciating the individual items and inevitably lose interest in the collection. This is why Lego is good, because you can MOC as well as collect :-) Its seems the original complaint which kicked off this flood of LEGO appreciation, was against the chess set. Which I recently bought, despite the shakoless soldiers and want to defend, a bit, then complain about it. I have to say I really liked it... okay you don't get shakos but you get eight 16x16 plates, four in blue and four in sand... and four 8x16, again half in blue and the other half in sand. Which gives a much more impressive raised chess board with sides to play with... And the overall appearance is just much cleaner with each square being covered with tiles, I would say its an improvement, because it is no longer just a good army builder, but a nicer set as well. Also the 2009 set skimped on shakos too, there were only 2 on the bishops, so this is not a new thing, it must really add to the costs? But its not a perfect set, in terms of playing chess, the heights and sizes are all wrong for the pirate's Bishop, Knight and Rook. And the there is no height difference between the Bishop and Knight on the Imperial's side (makes it very hard to play once you've started a game! But if you buy the set to play chess (as I did, well it's one reason) you can modify that... I'd like to post my MOD later, but briefly, I took out the Pirate Rook completely and switched the grey skull Knight to the Rook position, and built really cool new Knights with ladders and monkeys (before I even googled the 2009 set, mine are better though ;-p) finally I built up the Bishops on both sides and switched the top of the Imperial's to a black stud shooter, modified to be a bit more cannony so both sides have equal fire power. Not sure about "Golden age" but maybe we've never had it so good - could just be the disposable income and no-one telling me to pick up Lego off my bedroom floor though...
  16. I really like this build, the big round tower looks really cool... I can see what TheLegoDr means about the smaller towers, although it wasn't something I noticed until it was pointing it out.. I think it only really stands out on the gate towers, and the different build styles look fine on the corners of the castles... so maybe just widening the gate would (and therefore the gap between the two round towers) would improve the appearance. But I really don't think you need to because its cool. To begin with I skimmed over the details, just looking at the impressiveness of the shear size... but then when I start to really look: I like the Robin Hood esk highway men holding up the cart; the Woman pouring water (blue wizard hat) in the barrel - very cool, captured the movement perfectly! The blacksmith's bellows, using a cape? A nice touch. And the catch of the day... shark, a real big fish! :-) I'd really enjoy seeing it in the brick, looks like the kind of scene you could keep spotting new things with.
  17. haha I like the idea of finding Lego lying around, completely acceptable to open it, definitely worth the $15!
  18. I really liked the episode and I'm interested in what or who the Timelord/Dalek hybrid will be... for a minute I thought we might have Clara running around the rest of the series inside a Dalek, but apparently it was easy to remove! But Clara is leaving at the end of the series to play Queen Victoria (or someone)? So maybe she will end up inside a Dalek after all... Not sure how I feel about the sunglasses, I hope thats just a fad for a few episodes, wearable technology is not really my thing... Can't wait for the next episode, it looks really good, lots of running!
  19. From what I can remember, some store manager said they were excited for Peter Pan (maybe they were just hoping for him, but knew about the series though), the Minifigure series appeared on the webpages of a German retailer with Disney in the title... and people who know stuff say its happening. It could still be an extended April Fool's Joke, but I always thought if one went past midday with the joke, then they became the fool?
  20. This is just cool, I like the twist :-) The guillotine is fantastic and the decapitated heads are well done, I like the blood pouring out the old guy's head!
  21. The zombie ship or the items? I didn't buy the lego bits and pieces myself, they were bought for me and I have to wait until Wednesday until I get my hands on them, but sure I'll post some pics then. I am kinda pleased since they were definitely cheaper than the stuff I was looking at on ebay :-)
  22. This store has already been mentioned once before in this thread, but it was 5 years ago, so i thought it was worth iterating, I had a really good experience with HELGE's sets & bricks The service was really fast and efficient (my stuff arrived within 48 hours of me ordering/paying). There was a tiny error in the order, where the wrong part had been put in (I order a lot of small pieces, with multiples), but the replacement part was delivered and had arrived before I had actually expected to receive the original order in the first place. I was really happy with the service and will definitely shop there again.
  23. Oh well I class myself as a Geoscientist... But I was thinking I would be a scholar of some kind since I have yet to leave university behind and then maybe after a few hundred years or so I would upgrade to explorer...
  24. Maybe they intended to give the bumblebee girl a handle with her honey pot, up it ended up costing too much...? Are the Leprechaun, the bumblebee girl and the skeleton costume guy really the only ones to have used this part?
  25. Nice, although it looks like he's climbing limestone and sandstone, not so much on the volcanic front... :-p
