  1. Recently I've have a couple of cheese slopes that have cracked in half - shame none of them are yellow that I might actually MOC on a minifigure's plate for fun ;) and one dark brown palisade brick. But those photos are the worst I've ever seen especially all from one set. If I had bought that set from a LEGO store I'ld be returning it. That many in those small sets, I would definitely send the photos to LEGO too to prove that many pieces really were breaking.
  2. Yes the staircase are already on the brick wall, only I don't have a use for them so didn't buy any.
  3. Santa Clara store, had to ask them to bring out a fair amount of the boxes since there isn't space on the wall for them to put it all out yet: Thought I had 22 horses, turned out I had 23 (all in the one big cup), no wonder the cup was bulging and the horses had been pushed up by the gems and flowers I used as stuffing. Turns out after removing the horses I have about 1/3 cup of gems. 2x4 medium azure plates 2x4 medium lavender plates 2x6 light pink plates 1x2 light pink plates 1x1 medium blue bricks pink flower sprues new horses light blue gems Really happy to find the pink flowers, I had hoped they would appear on the brick wall eventually.
  4. Upon phoning, my local store said they were not putting the pieces out until tomorrow, because today they have the mini-build. Having attempting a mini build there, arrived an hour early and the line already snaking through the mall and been told sorry looks like we are out of builds, then waited three hours to get to the front of the line, yes I don't blame them for putting it out tomorrow!!!
  5. That bus is fantastic. The navy against the yellow is very striking.
  6. I haven't bought a cup since before Christmas! I had trouble filling my Christmas box, because the wall hasn't changed. Its not just the colours, which are better than the last few years. We waited so long to get pink on the wall! Yes they are still selling probably in mass quantities, but there is definitely untapped market potential, its whether AFOLs are worth their time/cost/distribution to change the wall bricks more often or have that range of colours on the wall. We might be too small a market share, for all that AFOL can spend a large sum at once. My very first pick a brick was a Christmas box I was given back in 2004 ish. I filled it with sand green 1x2, teal 1x2, red 1x2 and some other miscellaneous. I regret those red bricks now
  7. Its rare that I come across a piece and don't know what it is, but this one stumped me. I'm guessing its old and after that hmm, end of a train-like item? part of a packaging of something else? It has lego on the inside of it (the bottom is hollow) but no number, and it is 4 studs wide by 6 high. Thank you....
  8. Wow, that's BIG! The size has allowed for so many good details, the first thing that stood out to me were the dark red tree branches that seem like ferns because of the enormity of the tower. The raven and the trap plants are my favourite parts, but its outstanding.
  9. I regularly hear people in TRU and while out shopping say things such as, 'Here are some Halo LEGO' or 'Transformer LEGOs'. However I grew up vacuuming with a hoover, even though it wasn't a Hoover. And am another that uses Biro to mean any rollerball type pen. So .... I think to more people it is less about longevity and top quality, and more about being a toy and if it lasts for the duration of the kids interest it's done its job.
  10. Physicist here too Gideon, does your family also love watching movies as much with you as mine do with me sometimes?
  11. As a stand alone set if I didn't own lego before it, its nice. However as a previous lego owner, I find it a shame that the elves clothing and santa are dressed in clothing that is already available, only Mrs Claus looks new. And especially that the hat/ears of the elves is in the same green as the holiday elf CMF, if it were in red I would be much more receptive. The red bag, red star and gold elephant trunk in the sleigh are the only specials I can see from the current picture. Add in that the reideer are brickbuilt, and I can build this set, so why would I buy it?
  12. Well that changes things! I was not expecting it to be one of the mystic isles. How did the Drow get there? I thought they used tunnel networks and caverns in the mainland.
  13. I saw those colours and thought of Angeli too. I love the train tracks and the whole decoration behind the throne.
  14. Is there a link to an Avalonian map in greater resolution. I cant read any of the text on the ones in the Avalonia thread. I am trying to work out where Nalderic is and what is the terrain/population in that region. Thank you.
  15. Thank you, the problem I am finding is if its specifically for air brakes then the specs of the tubing is printed continuously down the side of it :(
  16. Do any of you know a source for custom flex tubing? Or can help with a description of the inner/outer diameter (I believe the outer is 3mm), type of plastic that accurately matches lego tubing so I know what to ask for? I have been singularly unsuccessful at model and hobby shops in my area, even by showing them a piece of it.
  17. I've seen a lot of these decool figures second hand recently. The bodies have a crisper edge and corner to the shoulders, not so rounded. A lot of the printing was faded or sloppy (smudged), but if you get a good one then they are amazing in their similarity. I saw the ninjago knockoffs and some Shredder and turtles this weekend and if you don't know that they aren't lego and know what to look for the well printed ones will fool people that don't know about the counterfeits.
  18. This is a wonderful build. I love all the details. I was drawn in by the timber sunk into the snow and the snow lightsabers on the top. The snow banks and really nicely done. I like the tree, and the horse drawing the log, the ship.
  19. I like this! I have some knights already asking to requisition one.
  20. See you'll be teased more for admitting it in your collection but trying to dodge that you have any part in it, than just saying yes, I have some.
  21. Gorgeous photos that set off a great creation. I love your rigging and sails. Now I'm going to read further on flickr.
  22. This is great both as a resource and just to stare at and admire =D
  23. "Here you go, a new Mixel in return for your Stormtrooper heads. Oh, but wait one minute! I need those eyes and new ball hinges." - yes that would go over really well
  24. Ah so classic D&D then! Though that makes it hard for the pointy ears since they don't come in black. Hmm will probably try mixing various orcs and maybe having commanders be darker skinned. Guess I'll be pilfering my kids starwars clones.
