  6. I agree that I rarely see LEGO sets go on sale any longer (more than the odd $1-2 target type deals). As for the minifigures, I have seen a lot of the counterfeit ones in the local markets and if you don't know what you're looking at (and sometimes even if you do!) they are improving so much they are becoming harder to distinguish. Any of those expensive bricklink minifigures could be the next one mass copied and at that stage its hard to guarantee that the one you are buying secondhand is real. If you visit the Super Hero section on this board you will see that for personal use there are people willing to buy these counterfeits since they are an affordable alternative. Whether this would impact people that were willing to buy at a higher price, I can't say.
  7. They are from my son's Mixels - poor little guys currently sitting blind on his bookshelf. The dome comes from Buzz Lightyear, its his visor. I had to contact LEGO Customer Support because one of the rules of the challenge is no licensed pieces, to check that it was generic.
  8. This is my build for "Friends in Space" contest on Rebrick. If you like it, please support it and 'Like' it here: http://rebrick.lego....ervatory/8vd1p5 The Friends' Moon Base Observatory The building hinges open and we see Mia is charting the night sky on observatory's telescope. Emma is just arriving through the airlock. She has two friends she made on a previous expedition excited to have her home. And Stephanie is busy examining rocks brought back by Emma. Her robotic dog keeps her company and reminds her that she needs to eat and drink as well as investigate. The ladder hinges up for easy access of the lab below and fits into its own space vertically for when the building is closed. The telescope dome opens and the telescope gantry rotates 360 degrees. Stephanie investigating in the lab with her robotic dog. Every hard-working gal needs a coffee machine. Emma is arriving home through the air lock. These two cute and cuddly creatures Emma found on a previous exploration. They have been waiting for her. Window seats contain the girl's lockers. Thank you! - Cara.
  9. Wow, eight figures who either fit or have desirable pieces to fit into a Historical/Fantasy theme. This is probably the best series for me since somewhere around 6.
  10. If you have a brick and mortar store close then take your set and the part you want replaced there. They can phone customer service from the store and vouch for you. I had success this way when a dinosaur was missing for us.
  11. Yes it is when I'm on a computer running IE that I have the skipping every other letter problem and not able to use a carriage return. When I'm on my desktop and using Firefox I am fine.
  12. I have exactly the same problem in the normal edit mode of the reply box. And it can start after I copy and paste something or cut something from my post, preview the post and then go back to editting. Its rather strange. I find that if I toggle the edit mode to plain text (silver plate button in the top left corner of the text controls) then the problem goes away entirely. I will agree that is it very annoying when it happens and that this is the only board it happens to me on.
  13. Thank you both! I think that is nice and clear.
  14. I like the build, the cave, the runes on the front. But I find it a bit too monotone with the large amount of dark grey.
  15. While I now have many missed garage story sales I also have as many or more wow! look what I got from a garage sale. My sob story is about a set. I rarely buy complete sets in store, so when I saw Monster Fighters Zombies set at Target, as I had spent my budget that month I thought, 'I'll get it in a few weeks!' I never saw it again. That set had a ridiculously short shelf life and its $40 price tag is $140 on bricklink. I still wish I had that bride and groom.
  16. Those pieces are lovely indeed Ritsz, My store says they have to send all those type of pieces (from sets/mini builds etc) back to LEGO :( It would be truly wonderful to have one bin be all the mixed odds and ends
  17. I need to know if these two pieces will fit together. I like the look of the fabuland window shutters and am trying to work out it any non-fabuland piece will hold them. This is the shutter piece x638: Will they fit with part 3581: I'm hoping someone with one of these shutters can reply. Thank you!
  18. That is what I wondered, so does that mean the winner's turtles might have to be shipped somewhere?
  19. Those terms are unfortunately pretty normal for any submission style contest. It seems horrible to the individual but is there to protect the company. If a company happen to release something, that if you look sideways and squint, happens to look like someone's entry, the company can not be sued. You have to trust any company with a submission style competition isn't one that rips off designs or you choose not to enter. I was more wondering about: All entry materials become the property of the LEGO Group and will not be acknowledged or returned. Since: We ask that you please keep the set built in case further photography is required. I wondered if materials meant the photograph or the model itself. And if that was just generic verbiage (since the event is only open to 18 & older yet there is also a clause that your parent or guardian needs to approve which I guessed was also default text.)
  20. If you have minifigures you don't want - any age or condition - take them with you. Legoland California employees have minifigures on their badges and lanyards. You can swap with them. They had a lot of simpson figures when we were there earlier this year.
  21. Link fixed. And this photo shows everything that was in the big cup still after removing only the horses. (I used gems and flowers as filler).
  22. Here we go, 23 horses squished into a large pick-a-brick cup. Larger photos on my flickr stream.
  23. I wish! But no. Before this they had had the same group of bricks since before Christmas.
