  1. Very nice! It conveys exactly what its meant to be.
  2. Now I want to put my tree up and Thanksgiving hasn't happened yet!
  3. Edit, just realized it 16x16 not 32x32, that is tiny!!! So no extra people or anything outside of the 16x16 except the one stud overhang? So this is a fixed base affair rather than a cluster of vehicles/people/small building as per other winter village sets. Or are we allowed to do two small stalls and people standing between them so long as all the pieces that we have fit within a 16x16 base when pushed together (yet we can photograph them spread out a bit as per winter village set displays)?
  4. The Santa Clara store received 4 boxes of the masonry bricks today.
  5. Is there a single thread that has all the Nocturnus tribes submissions shown in it, or is it a matter of searching for each individual thread? My search foo is never strong, especially with the annoying flood control.
  6. I understand the effect of inferior grab bags, we once bought two that had large amounts of hero factory masks and that little H piece that goes on the armor. Not a good play experience for my kids. However this was the exception. On the whole grabs bags were really exciting. Its a shame those pieces cant be added to a spare bin on the brick wall instead.
  7. What is the body of the green armed torso like? (what does it look like?) I bought a load of dark red vampire lady skirts there last time. I have no idea why since I don't have the bodice.
  8. I've been assigned to the Black Tower this round, so it's time to practice being evil.
  9. Hmm, Black Spire, not what I hoped for (my brick collection wise) but I'll run with it. Guess I'll just have to start thinking a bit more evilly...
  10. Wonderful farm building! I love the interior.
  11. It has been done before but it is good to be reminded of it and a great way to get white hair.
  12. I regularly buy second hand bricks and found that the colander and dish soap method was too time consuming when you have ten to twenty pounds of lego at a time. So now I do a bit of both. I separate the transparents and chromes or anything delicate out into a colander and I wash only that by hand. The rest goes into these mesh washing bags These aren't net, they are really fine, nothings getting out of them and I've never had one break yet and they have an extra fabric tab and popper to pass through the big circular zip to keep it closed. They are from Bed Bath and Beyond, at two for $8 and if you use a $5 off $15 coupon that's four for $11. I fill them about 5 inches high, at a guess 2lbs of lego. Then into the washing machine they go with a regular (cold/warm) wash, I put them in with towels/bedding or any other laundry I have with whatever laundry detergent that I normally use. I prefer making sure the load is full so there isn't a lot of brick tumbling happening. The only time I have to be careful is those boxes where the lego has lived with a pet that sheds hair. I blow the hair off it all before it enters the bag. This is one downside of having a fine mesh that no lego can escape from, pet hairs can't escape either. I even put most stickered pieces through the washing machine. The only ones that don't survive are the very old paper stickers. A plus side to washing in the washing machine is that the spin cycle gets the bricks almost completely dry, so you don't get that water sitting inside the brick cavity like you do with hand washing.
  13. The hull is absolutely beautiful. Congratulations on those lines.
  14. That's really elevated build on a small scale. Those over hanging plates are perfect SK. It looks gorgeous. Very inspiring.
  15. Its here: http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=83667
  16. Astrun Egilsdóttir will do what she can and would like to help Nocturnus and Lord Ssilyrrlithif possible.
  17. What colour of pastels? I would love to see pastel colours, though I admit 2x4's aren't of that much use to my style of build.
  18. AHH!!! Its good to see it from the top Kabel now I get an idea of whats where and how it all fits. Very impressive in scope.
  19. My girl as Edward Scissorhands, all dressed up and ready for Halloween! Hair: 53981 Head: Angelica (PotC) Torso: Gray Ghost racer jacket Legs: Skater Girl (CMF6) Claws: 10187
  20. Out of interest if anyone knows a quick answer, do the members of a LUG have to be local to each other? While I can imagine most are I wondered if there were any internet or cross country LUGs.
  21. Apparently both Santa Clara and San Mateo had msonry in in the last two weeks but sold out quickly. And Stoneridge thinks they've never had it. :(
  22. Does anyone have a scan of the sail from the Viking Longship? Or a link to one. http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=sailbb36
  23. Where do you live Runnersdad? I'm trying to track where the masonry bricks are showing up.
  24. Thank you very much! All the positive experiences are very encouraging. My child is a 4th grader and since none of us have ever done this we are looking more for the experience than the competing (at least this year ;). I am going to look into the possibility of an FRC team contact. That is a very helpful suggestion. Thank you for all the replies.
  25. My kids after school program (GATE) was looking at starting a LEGO robotics club with the idea of doing the First Lego League challenge. As a MOCer I probably have the most LEGO experience of any of the parents that spoke up :P and I have 0 Mindstorm experience! So I wanted to ask if anyone here has had experience with this league event? And if so any recommendations for or against? Also do any of you know of any grants or programs that LEGO or someone else may run to help children get these kind of projects off the ground? Apparently from what I was told at our first meeting my state (CA) doesn't have any funding for this program even though they run it (or require the parents to run it!)
