I guess Brickset has the gas station marked $90, and there is someone running around youtube pointing it out on every video of city 2016 sets. Doesn't make one bit of sense though, unless that is in Canadian dollars. Unlike the shuttle it doesn't even have any large pieces. I don't believe for a second that a City set with 515 pieces and 4 figs is going to cost $90. $50 or $60 is likely.

41176- Lego Elves the Secret Market Place
Vorkosigan replied to Velouria's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Ok, this is the only other (non-purple) color I have: I think I prefer dark tan but this looks decent. The nougat color of the masonry bricks would be nice option (but it hasn't been made). -
Here is a version with all the 2016 sets labeled. I tried to put the set number either directly above or below the set.

Has this map of the Dragon Mountains been posted yet? It can be found in the back of the Secret Marketplace instructions. Lots of cool areas that would be good to MOC:

41176- Lego Elves the Secret Market Place
Vorkosigan replied to Velouria's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Nope its the same as the old version, tan underneath. Thanks for the review. I was thinking of posting one too. But I'll just contribute a couple extra photos here. First, the staircase really needs to be tan or dark tan: Second, here is a dragon comparison: This set has a lot of great details: the gate, lamps, bookshelves, new dragon book, the packages, dragon banners, the shield, the animals running shops. It does have a bit many stickers for the size of the set, including a stickered shield which is unfortunate. Elves continues to be a very interesting theme. -
I'm planning to do a review in the next day or so, but here you go:

Interestingly weird little seaplane. I actually kinda like it.

Well, take a look at what people are asking for the Eldorado Fortress box on bricklink: https://alpha.bricklink.com/pages/clone/catalogitem.page?O=6276-1#T=S&O={} Will anyone pay that, I dunno. The Backhoe seems more realistic: https://alpha.bricklink.com/pages/clone/catalogitem.page?O=8862-1#T=S&O={}

All the sets are currently available on Walmart.com in the US and some sets have shown up in stores. I bought the starlight inn Saturday and will get the marketplace by Thursday. So I'm guessing the official release is March 1st.

Sure we have the air pillows too, I mean interlocking tabs and boxes with lids.

Interesting that they use such odd packing in the UK. Here in the US they use the most generic cardboard boxes possible.

LEGO - Tank climber test
Vorkosigan replied to oracid's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Yes it is available, it comes in the Nexo Knights Fortrex which was released Jan 1st and there are several sellers of this piece on bricklink: http://alpha.bricklink.com/pages/clone/catalogitem.page?P=bb704#T=S&C=11&O={"color":11} However the lowest price at the moment is ~0.27 euros so it is very costly to put 2 or 3 of these in every tread piece. Hopefully as the piece is more widely used it will come down to a reasonable price. -
Super jealous of all the great 1xX gray pieces and slopes. I visited a couple stores near Chicago a few weeks ago and the selection was much less interesting.

LEGO - Tank climber test
Vorkosigan replied to oracid's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Excellent videos and design. Though I think your solutions are very cost effective and probably provide better traction, I have to wonder if you have you considered using part bb704 in all the tank tread holes: It currently only appears in set 70317 and is prohibitively expensive, but may be a useful in the future. -
The original description of the Siege Machine of Doom mentioned it folds down into a tank like configuration. Has anyone seen any pictures of it in that configuration?

You can buy Sparkks for $20 or so on eBay, not too bad really.

General Pirates of the Caribbean Theme Discussion Thread
Vorkosigan replied to Oswald the Rabbit's topic in LEGO Pirates
I assume Captain Fortune is asking about international release dates. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1790809/releaseinfo Most countries May 27th, looks like a little earlier in Ireland, July for Columbia, Germany and France. -
Its easy to take apart as the sections are only held together with 2 studs, the only difficulty is the possibility of a brick staying stuck to the wrong side. Putting back together is a little bit fiddly as the sections must be aligned for the spiral pattern an sometimes squeezed a bit to get the roundness consistent.

Do modern white bricks still turn yellow?
Vorkosigan replied to ProducePrincess's topic in General LEGO Discussion
In my experience whitening doesn't effect the look or feel of bricks but it does make them clutch harder and sometimes "squeak" when connected. I'm not sure but it seems like this wears off with use. -
Thanks for all the kind comments! BrickCurve I have done things with transparent 1x1s on the water, but wanted to try a simple look for the water on this one. Reminds me of old pirates sets with the printed island baseplates. There are of course very cool things to be done with water effects. As for adding tan to the tower, I tend to prefer a less weathered look. I know some find it a bit bland or monochromatic but that is generally on purpose, not from a lack of parts.

For the one without armor, why not use this piece and 1x1 with top clip?

When I saw the movie Groundhog Day after I got back into LEGO something occurred to me. What an opportunity to do some building! I'm guessing somewhere in Punxsutawney there was a store with a LEGO section. If not Phil could have driven away from the storm to some place that had some. I mean the process of his enlightenment is great and all but if you're in that situation you could take some days off for LEGO in between finding love and learning snow carving. Improve your MOCing skills... Plus the fact that the movie is set in the early 90s has a nostalgia aspect to it, imagine all the great sets available: Model Team, Dragon Knights, Ice Planet, Pirates, etc.
