  1. Sure it'd be better if the sets were less vehicle focused, but its LEGO, build what you want with it. Jestro's castle is going the right direction. The demon figures are a great unique faction and honestly they deserve more MOCs, I need to work on that myself.
  2. Some nice parts in that set. Nexo shields in brown, plenty of gold elves fence, the dragon emblem. Shows why we need real Fantastic Beasts sets. I have thought about buying dimensions sets and reselling the RFID bases, this may be one where I finally have to try it.
  3. Thanks for the excellently detailed review! I do expect to get this set even though I rarely build vehicles, I just love small classic cars like this and the Mini. One small comment about your intro, when I read that the VCR was introduced in 1964 I thought that seemed off. I read up on and realize that is technically right, there was a home video recording system sold at that time. But it was not until 1976 that the VHS format which would become ubiquitous in homes was introduced. Sorry to nitpick your scene-setting.
  4. Excellent MOC! The carriage and whole scene are really evocative. I like the use of the elven chairs as window covers, and the pirate woman's hair for the gypsy.
  5. I want to see the 2017 wave before I decide how soon I want NK to end. I enjoyed this year's villains but if we truly get some dark forest and water monsters as seen in the book, that could be really incredible. And that sort of fantasy creature has never been seen in a "Castle" theme so its a good chance to get something truly new.
  6. "Great Condition!"
  7. I haven't noticed my Target playing games with the prices. For example I picked up the Elve's Sleigh for $21, MSRP is $30. I also looked at the Scooby Doo Lighthouse which was $35, MSRP is $50. Both are legit 30%.
  8. If you really like 5487 there is someone on bricklink with 8 copies of it new for $25 each, less than the original price of 30. http://www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/catalogitem.page?view=buy&S=5487-1
  9. Wow, great series! Lots of impressive custom print designs.
  10. Given that says "pat pending" I'm guessing that doesn't qualify as IN PRODUCTION.
  11. I think the idea to use smaller plates at 1/8 scale is great, but if you really want to use a computer another simple idea is to use powerpoint and just make shapes with an arbitrary scale that will fit on your screen. If you expect the diorama to be 320 studs long, you could use a scale of 0.03" per stud and make up your plates and label them, then move around to your heart's content.
  12. An e-mail came out today that there is a promotion of 500 bonus VIP points with purchase of the Temple of Airjitzu, making it effectively only about $165. Tempting...
  13. Great to see some of the sand green parts escaped to stores outside of NY. Even for people who can't find them locally, it should depress the price somewhat on bricklink.
  14. Lets not rehash the whole LOTR thing in here... I get the caution about the potential for this theme, but LEGO has kept some things pretty close to the vest lately and I still think there is a small chance of sets. Its still 4+ months till the movie's release.
  15. Its that time of year again... Target by me is doing the summer toy section reset so others should be doing it now or soon. Lots of clearance LEGO but only around 20-30% so far. Scooby, some City, the Elves sleigh, some Nexo ultimates, Ninjago Master Wu Dragon, some superheros. A good spread of stuff.
  16. With MOCs I often use a wooden shelf on a carpeted floor. The build sits on the wood so I can get proper clutch engagement. Pieces are in bins or in progress pieces on carpet. It works pretty well but even though I like sitting on the floor its a bit hard on the back as I get older.
  17. Um yes J2G specifically was referring to dimensions: "until the new sets come out later this year for LEGO dimensions oh ho ho...did I say that out loud?" Anyway I came in here because I saw this story about a new Fantastic Beasts poster and a tweet "Something FANTASTIC is being announced soon.": http://www.irishexaminer.com/breakingnews/entertainment/new-fantastic-beasts-poster-and-a-surprise-on-the-way-741181.html Perhaps wishful thinking but I'm curious to see what is announced in case its LEGO related, dimensions or not.
  18. I would choose my "Blacksmith's Country Estate" MOC: http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=106455 Its not my most sophisticated build, but its one of my favorites and it has a good balance of different kinds of pieces: foliage, grays, tan, and brown. I think I could make a good array of small medieval MOCs from this selection of pieces.
  19. Nice moc, I like the van and the hatch play feature. I think it'd be improved if you had more foliage, the jungle looks kinda bare. I haven't seen the other lost ideas sets but I wonder if having the plane wreckage is considered inappropriate?
  20. Looks awesome. I hope its not more than $100. I don't think I'd display it with the stuff on the roof but doesn't hurt to have some neat accessories.
  21. Impressively accurate at this scale! Nice job.
  22. Really nice ship. Reminds me a bit of The 5th Element. I wonder though, given the British flag on the original if the color was meant to be British racing green, in which case I think dark green would be more accurate. Not to slight your interpretation, just a thought.
  23. Absolutely incredible build. As amazing as the tree is I think the table is my favorite part. Looks like I need to invest in quite a few brown droid arms.
  24. I have the elves sky castle and they're normal clips and bars. Maybe you have some bad parts, have you tried multiple clips?
