  1. Right, I get why people say its nice to get two modulars because its a similarly detailed building that fits on a baseplate, but it is in no way an official modular. Even if it was modified to fit as a corner modular it would look really out of place.
  2. So epic, and I love the little details like the robot arms and the shuttles.
  3. Awesome build, the interiors are really whimsical. Reminds me a bit of Rivendale from the outside.
  4. I'll believe it if I see it. The new wave doesn't have enough sets to displace all the sets currently on the shelves. And it doesn't make sense to put the summer sets out for only 5 months.
  5. Yea I've seen it at Walmart, TRU, and the LEGO store.
  6. Its low current & low voltage so you won't notice a shock. It could be interesting but I liked the inductive concepts more. Also, previously posted in April:
  7. I think LEGO hair helmets are a neat idea, and if they could make them safe would likely have a decent market. However their overall idea that kids hate helmets but would like this is quite an exaggeration, there are already many efforts to make cool looking helmets that appeal to kids.
  8. Although I don't do most of the things mentioned in this thread, I do try hard to match the instructions when it comes to pieces attached by 1 stud which are arbitrarily rotatable. I also try to line up all the flames or flags in a given build as if there is a breeze blowing a certain direction.
  9. Although the ABS is quite durable some sets contain metal or electronics (mostly trains and some technic), and many sets contain cloth in cardboard (capes, flags, sails). You may want to take a quick look at the bags and not make holes in the ones that have those sorts of parts, they are usually noticeable. Overall though you're talking about store the sets for what, 5 years? That is not long compared to many people's LEGO surviving for decades in attics and basements.
  10. Some very cool exhibits there, shame it was mostly sellers. My experience with sellers at shows was that the prices weren't great and there was a lot of non-official (expensive custom printed pieces etc). If they really offered some unusually good deals I wouldn't mind a fair number of sellers.
  11. You won't have any trouble reading PDFs or JPEGs in 30 years unless civilization collapses. Because of the internet its possible to read many obscure obsolete file formats easily, and something as ubiquitous as those formats will not go away without plenty of means to port them to a newer format. What is mostly a problem with files from the early days of computers is the obscure physical media and hardware to read them. Its all but certain that paper instructions will go away at some point. As long as they make the format higher quality by then I'm ok with it (and PDF could do it if they let the files be larger). As to the larger books, I have problems holding them open at the beginning and end and for that reason prefer the simpler stapled instructions. I also like when sets that have multiple buildings/vehicles/etc having instructions for each separately.
  12. Thanks for the compliments! The lava is indeed much cheaper on bricklink but I already had those and instead had to buy the head, torso, gray bananas etc. The head is not even listed on bricklink as far as I can see (and there is no inventory for the tower carrier).
  13. I don't get how you're being ignored? People are just making different suggestions per their own opinions.
  14. Yea Jestro won't be in a small set any time soon, January 2017 he is in the biggest set of the wave with his new black and yellow coloring. However the fortress has been widely available for $95 already which while not cheap is a quite reasonable price for the scale of that set.
  15. I used BAP to get the parts to make a Burnzie without buying the tower carrier, and added some upgrades. I think the blackened lava bits look more like armor than the pure orange, and I replaced the pointless disc launcher with a hand and shield.
  16. Nice house and scenery, I like the tree. Is there an interior?
  17. Some people will walk in and pay full price because its there in front of them. The internet is more competitive. Its good at least that you can do price matching or site to store. I want to pick up some more of the summer sets but I'm hoping for even better deals, like on UK amazon.
  18. Not crazy about the look of this wave. Right now I'm thinking I'll just buy the Ruinas set and BAP some of the better bad guy figs as well as the big winged gargoyle guy (his head looks great). Maybe the final pics will change my mind, I'm sure some things will improve. The Triple Rocker could end up being worthwhile but the figures don't look that good, I prefer the ones with wings, Ruinas, and the one with the smoke body.
  19. This build started with a desire to make the Lone Ranger Constitution engine and tender, once I did I went on to motorize it and add two cars to make a very short train. I mostly built the engine and tender out of my collection with a couple small bricklink orders. The only mods to these are the push rods and adding the motor and receiver in the tender (slightly enlarging it to hide the receiver a bit). Then I built the custom boxcar, which doubles as a place to store the batteries. On top there is a 2x2 spot in the vents that connects to the power button, and the LED can be seen through the vent next to that. Lastly I finished it off with a basic caboose MOC.
  20. So many awesome details, a work of art!
  21. Incredible! I like how it captures so many different rooms and scenes.
  22. Neat idea but too expensive, and the idea that the price will go up after an introductory period is absurd. They should sell a version that has just the electronics mounted to the Lego compatible parts, and leave off < $10 worth of normal LEGO that they are overcharging for. Honestly a kit like that should cost at most $60. I recently bought a drone with a 720P camera that streams to your phone, and it includes a controller, for $70.
  23. I like the Ferrari-esc sports car in the high speed chase. Pizza Van is the only set I might buy. The bank robbery could be a good set, but they ruin it by putting too much of the parts into the police van and helicopter. If they replaced the van with a motorcycle, left off one police fig, and put those resources into making a nicer bank with some actual employees it might be worth buying. It would also look better if the crook bulldozer was yellow and more realistic, seriously the crooks steel a dozer and paint red so its extra identifiable?
  24. Pictures are out there. I like the apartment, good colors, but both it and the beach hut seem a bit thin to me. Beach hut is very typical. There appears to be a brick built poodle with the apartment which is funny looking. Alternates appear to be maybe a scooter shop and a cafe. The robot and dinosaur are both very cool. The azure robot looks a bit like Johnny 5. The dinosaur is a t-rex with triceratops and pterodactyl alternates.
