LEGO 70359 NEXO Knights ● Lance vs Lightning
Vorkosigan replied to Brick Ministry's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Thanks for the review. Kind of on the fence about buying this still. I do really like the wings on the monster minifig. -
Gorgeous ship and I really like the sail you made. Nice interior as well, impressive fitting that in with a complex ship.

Haven't seen the sets on the shelves yet but was able to get an employee at Target to bring a copy of Vermillion Attack from the back. Loving the new villains and particularly their armor. Hoping to pick up multiples once they get reduced. -
[MOC] CCC14 - Clarendon Castle
Vorkosigan replied to Mark of Falworth's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
Easily one of the top 5 best LEGO builds I've ever seen, amazing! Especially love the landscape, rockwork, water, cave. But the castle itself is really great too! -
Really nice expansion on the concept of the original set. That greebling is intense!

So all of these boxes feature an evil castle with glowing portal in the background (clearest in the airship set). I'm looking forward to that set this summer. -

Review: 30522 Batman in the Phantom Zone
Vorkosigan replied to Captain Nemo's topic in LEGO Licensed
If I bought this it actually would be my first and only batman but I'd be doing it for the interesting dark red parts. Something to keep an eye out for when it goes to 50% off on Feb 15th. -
How common are missing pieces?
Vorkosigan replied to Joseph Barker's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I had a set where one of the small bags within a numbered bag was duplicated, and another small bag missing. Other than that I think maybe one or two missing pieces over the course of 75+ sets as an adult. -
Best sets for making medieval buildings?
Vorkosigan replied to Fox Womb's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
Lighthouse seige is a good option. I forgot to mention before that there seems to be a lot of series 16 collectible minifigures still on shelves and the "rogue" archer is a great medieval figure. By mixing in some of your own heads, hair, legs, etc you could turn them into a custom faction. -

So, for that money I would suggest ebay but it doesn't help your gift card situation. You could buy Kingdoms Joust used on ebay, or a few kingdoms or castle 2013 sets. Working with sets that are only available new you'd have to make some compromises. You could potentially combine some creator sets and elves to get a combo of basic bricks and detailed pieces. With figures you'd be stuck with city figures and the minidolls. For example you could maybe find starlight inn in stores still, with some color swaps it could provide a good baseline for a shop: https://shop.lego.com/en-US/The-Starlight-Inn-41174 The Creator set Lakeside Lodge has a good selection of pieces for making a small pub or shop. Could maybe get a couple of these along with a Starlight Inn: https://shop.lego.com/en-US/Lakeside-Lodge-31048 One other option is the Angry Birds castle which may be on discount these days, and has a good selection of gray bricks and some brown, tan, and gold for details. No good figures though. https://shop.lego.com/en-US/King-Pig-s-Castle-75826 -
I don't see drilling in the Jungle. My guess is studying animals and plants. Sort of like the dinosaur sets but slightly more realistic. At least we can hope for some new animal moulds.

Very nice! I like all the textures of the architecture, and think the nougat and grey is an interesting combo.

Gorgeous build, very evocative of a fantasy world!

I don't think I've seen this set posted here: http://cache.lego.com/r/dynamic/is/image/LEGO/70358?op_sharpen=0&resmode=sharp4&wid=4000&fit=constrain,1&fmt=png-alpha Not a big fan but the squire bot is hilarious. -
Not my favorite sets from the 90s, but incredible to find a whole case of new old stock sets from 18 years ago.

Moana sets are up on shop@home. Both look great, and despite the exaggerated eyes I think the rooster could be used with minifigures. Overall a good part selection including the animals, fabric sail, black shields, fruits etc. I'm probably going to pick these up once they get a decent discount. https://shop.lego.com/en-US/Moana-s-Ocean-Voyage-41150 https://shop.lego.com/en-US/Moana-s-Island-Adventure-41149

The townhouse and its alternates look great! Nice color scheme and good level of detail for a 3 in 1.

Disagree, some cool parts and patterns but the colors don't work for me (mainly the purple). -
Reminds me of Age of Empires elephant archers, awesome!

a Special Place to Visit ( modular building moc )
Vorkosigan replied to carebear's topic in LEGO Town
Jaw dropping build! So many incredible details and a great sense of style and color. I only wonder, why do the archaeologists wear hats indoors? -
Finally built Magmar's Seige Machine. Nice build, I am surprised at how well it works in both configurations and the smooth transition between. I'm also a fan of the use of dark brown even in some less visible spots. Overall would recommend.
