  1. Now this made my day! Amazing work - after quite few weeks this is SW model I trully admire. Perfect design and color scheme (I'm probably going to use this mixture sooner or later) and decent interior. If I had to name one weak spot, it would be the thrusters - I don't really like those plastic wheels and especially when the rest of the ship is so detailed, these thrusters look somewhat poor. The rest is nailed!
  2. My curiosity wasn't by any mean an attempt for working up a panic :) I was hoping that someone might have some info rather than guessing. Otherwise I agree and I also believe that he might have just got busy with other stuff and return once it's possible.
  3. Honestly, the main aspect for me to admire is the size. And if it was just some generic military base, I'd call it pretty cool. Yet since you call it Imperial base and bind it with SW theme, I have to say that it doesn't really look like something from Star Wars universe. The only things that point out that it is SW are the figures, vehicles and those death star like turrets. Everything else - fence, buildings, hangars, interiors, weapons, missiles(!!), fighters - look like classic military. Don't take me wrong, it's great moc and it must have required a lot of effort to put this together - I have never built anything close to it's size. It's just not designed in SW style at all.
  4. Agreed and thank's for this - I'd probably miss this without your bump :D And of course thanks BEAVeR for making this!
  5. It's been years since mocpages stopped being reliable for storing images :/ It seems their image server is down this time - the page itself works. Anyway, looking forward to see this imaged back :D I'm very teased!
  6. It's recommended to title such teaser thread as 'WIP' for easier orientation :) Looking forward to finished model.
  7. It's great how fast did you respond and come with changes! Front part looks way better now, will be even better with that missing sticker. I'm not sure about that round tile as a gap filler - it doesn't look very genuine. I can imagine that finding the right part is tricky (I enjoyed plenty of this with my Venator especially :D ) but have you thought about some stacked plates or some basic greeble? You aren't limited to something that's facing front.
  8. What I like most on this creation is the water effect. It looks really genuine and it's hard to believe these pieces actually stick together without any hidden support. Regarding the fighter, I'm not big fan of these squishy 'do not touch' designs. And in this case, the most fragile looking parts (nose, cockpit) surprisingly don't contribute to the final appearence. On contrary, I think these look rather odd. Still it's good moc - I like the wings and again - that water rules! :D
  9. I don't know what's subject accurate in this case (I don't know the ship) but sometimes using some brighter and more distinguished colors for the interior heavily improves the look of it. Since this is mostly gray/back, I'd try colors like yellow, tan/dark tan etc. And maybe in this particular case, tones of blue (dark/medium azur) could be nice!
  10. According to your first post/request, I thought you are far from even starting the build, not finishing :) Misunderstanding perhaps. Now as you describe the finctionality, it sounds like some replacement for clutch. This great seems to have similar attributes either - you might want to check it out. Anyway, looking forward to see your invention!
  11. Any picture of what are you actually doing would help understanding I guess. I personally am quite confused. Continuous variable transmission you talk about looks like this and has nothing much to do with classic technic gearboxes you mentioned before. Ultimately, I'm not even sure what your actual goal is :)
  12. Cool ship. Supported!
  13. I can imagine you waking up one day asking yourself a question : "Umm, what model could I build today... well, how about 7 meter crane!" :D This is absolutely incredible and out of range. If you asked me an hour ago, I'd probably bet my shirt that even a crane half of this size wouldn't stand up and hold together. Hard to believe that those those bricks won't break under such stress. One question - does it really drive? On the picture, it seems to land on some support bricks behind the tracks which makes me doubt whether the tracks can actually hold it. If it does drive, I call it magic :D !
  14. Hello, I believe that lot of you might have heard of Sylvian Ballivet aka Iomedes, great Lego master builder. Ever since I found him via pictures of his fabulous recreation of Erik Varszegi's giant Venator Star Destroyer and discovered his other fantastic creations, he belongs to the narrow top 10 of my favorite lego builders. I was especially excited about his project of even bigger Venator. He used to be active on his mocpage, facebook and flickr and kept creating new models on regular basis till the middle of 2014. I haven't seen anything from him ever since - no new creations, no message on his websites, nothing for over a year. Perhaps he had some reasons to stop what he was doing and maybe it's not my business to know, yet I'm being really curious about what might have occured. I'm desperate to know whether I can look forward for more outstanding creations from this master builder. Does anyone have any information that is not strictly personal or confidental? Thanks!
  15. Since I first saw the opening scene of Episode I, this cruiser remains being my favorite small SW ship. I really like your recreation, great scale choice (small but leaving plenty of room for detail). Mid section of the hull is nearly perfect, although you could have tried and fill these triangular gaps between the side panels with at least few bricks or some greebles (there is rather plain surface in the original ship). There are several aspects I don't like that much and I think most of them mainly result from you taking the Lego 7665 set as a refference. Your engine cylinders are to small agains the rest of the hull making whole engine part way narrower. According to following picture, the rear part is more than twice as wide as the mid section. This might, however, not have an easy solution - making 5-6 stud wide cylinder is tricky task. The other part that could be improved in my opinion is the 'escape pod' underneath the cockpit. First of - it's not supposed to be an escape pod at all - Lego just included this feature which makes sense for their playset but I don't see why would you implement that in this scale. Originally, this cruiser has some small escape pods comming out from the mid section. Of course that you can design your features whathever you like but as far as you want to stay movie accurate, this is not real :) Secodly it's hard to achieve that very special truncated cone shape and regarding the scale, one probably has to accept basic cylinder as a substitute. Though I think those 1x1 round plates in the front aren't beneficial and have rather negative impact on the overal look. I'd personally leave these studs uncovered. Please note that I'm only saying this becuase the model is really great and not far from being perfect :) I'm also aware that you might know very well about these issues and have some particular reasons for building your model in such way. Of course I also supported this on Ideas, along with your Landing Ship (which I like even more). Good luck with both of them!
  16. I really like the scientific approach you take. Both C3 and R2 are fantastic models (although R2 is my favorite - brilliant in given scale). Regarding C3's head, I think it's proportionally very close, though the face expression is somehow very far from being true to the original. I'm not sure whether I could do better - most likely not - but I ber it's possible. I hope you find a way because after that being fixed, you have a perfect figure :)
  17. I can't imagine the amount of work that went into this! Even just placing the vegetation pieces. The overal impression is good, just those trees seem a bit sparse, thought I can understand you wanted them to be easy see through. Perhaps some more complex branching or dirfferent placement of these leaf pieces (tilted/rotated) could make them look better. Anyway, huge compliment for completing such wonderful creation!
  18. Fantasctic! Congratulations to the completion. I watched you progress all the way through and I can only repeat my praise from previous threads. Thank you for sharing lxf file as well. I have one question - where did you get these LBG 'golden' ingots? I need a bunch of these but could only find one seller on bricklink who didn't reply to my emails. EDIT: Well I probably did something wrong while searching before. Now I already see more lots for sale..
  19. This is just great! I'd love to swoosh this around :D
  20. ^Not surprisingly, in Hailfire droid set :D http://brickset.com/sets/4481-1/Hailfire-Droid
  21. Oh I wish I had these big wheels :D Well done, I really like the way you present your mocs lately, uncovering some of the techniques.
  22. Wow. Masterpiece of mechanical engineering. I love the precision it has I don't know much about these machines but I wonder, youldnt it be possible to modify it on order to get it drawing infinite fractal instead of closed loop?
  23. Nice creation. But I'm just thinking about your username. Isn't that kind of impersonation (eventhough the iconic christopher is no longer with us)? Or somehow unethical? I consider it quite pert at very least...
  24. Curtis' and Kelso's models couldn't be more different. Curtis, with help of the scale he has chosen (by the way approx. the same scale as Primus' Venator, namely ISD scale, which I think is really cool) found a briliant way to build it without bothering with sticking plate hull onto some internal frame. With mostly classic studs up design he achieved fabulous look. You say that Kelso's model is totally off in proportions, well it's truth that he flattened some of the curvatures of the hull, at some points it seems he didn't even try to stay accurate to the original (like it's significantly shorter than it should be - Mark mentioned that he is well aware of this in some of hiw WIP entries). Some would say that rather than making a replica, he only hot inspired by the look. Still for me his result is outstanding, and as a complete thing, it looks fascinating. These other models you mention (I'm sure I saw that one on brickshelf) may be proportionaly more accurate but still, I'd rate them lower. The visual impression is good but without this wow effect, Anyway, I'm still waiting for some masterbuilder to surpass all of those, finally bringing the design that will trully capture the ship. I wish I could be the one :D But my experience is still low for starting such project.
  25. Briliant. Lego made several of these starfigters (similar type, diferent colors) but your design beats all of those. Yea, the dimensions are a bit off here and there but it's very easy to forgive that looking at the whole piece. If this was a set, I'd definitely buy it!
