  1. I can't back up my oppinion with real experiments, it's just a guess (educated maybe) but I think there might be quite noticeable difference, even with the same motor. Increasing the couterforce decreases the effectivity of LA (internal stress causes more friction) by quite a lot. Adding more LA's reduces the load each element has to carry so eventhoiugh you have more elements creating looses, the overall effectivity (under heavy load) is better, thus it should increase the lifting power. Again, this might be false, I don't have enough LA's to do an experiment :) Haha I bet I did. The more to appreciate how calm and factual you managed to keep your reply. Anyway, These pictures were undoubtedly worth it!
  2. Why the heck did I have to be bitchy to pull this out of you :D Honestly, my jaw just dropped - just a little bit, not completely but still. This is far beyond my expectations and I wish you had posted some WIPs lot sooner. So here you go: I'm sorry for making false allegations! In general, this looks great. Your ambitious descriptions that I questioned before were real and I'm probably to short to give any sort of advices here - I never built such massive model myself, I never even attempted. Perhaps I can just remind you (quite stupidly) to maximize the stiffness of the mechanizms that are going to be under load. And maybe to consider adding some wheels to support the turntable while you have such massive crane. And avoid using 8 tooth gears in high torque applications - I made this mistake myself several times. Good luck!
  3. Enormous creation. I think I saw this earlier on yourtube but somehow missed this toppic until now. It's cool to follow your progress, seing how clever engineering approach you take while solving the problems. I'm honestly impressed with it's driving performance. I expected it to be way way slower - actually don't you think you require to high speed out of this massive contraption? Probably pushing lego (and ABS plastic) to the limmits :D I'm looking forward to see more progress!
  4. :D :D :D :D :D :D ..... (oh and it's also very well built! I'll be back to appreciate it more as soon as I stop laughing :D)
  5. I guess the point of that post was to highlight that considering this is ALTERNATIVE model (thus with critical part restrictions) your notes were quite irrelevant. And I have to agree with that. Being a C model, this truck looks absolutely amazing, no matter what. Comparing this to the Arocs, which was purposefully designed to best match the real truck is absolute nonsense.
  6. Excellent job. Such car models are pretty rare as much as I can tell. The more interesting is to see some. You did outstanding job with the bodywork and the chasis also look great. It's instantly recogniseable from most angles - perhaps the only view I don't like very much is from the side - the back somehow looks to have to much clearance from the ground, although I checked with pictures of a real car and you are actually quite close. Perhaps adding one more strip of technic axles to lower and thicken it a bit might result in better look. Anyway, wonderful model. Any chance for a video showing off it's functions?
  7. Hello. Don't take me wrong but this is already your fifth topic teasing some creation and I'm starting to wonder whether it ever comes real :D It started way back with your super complex gearbox, whcih you claimed to have finished and promissed some pictures, though we didn't see any in the end. And the only real picture I managed to dig up in your topics is some crude LDD sketch of chasis, which, to be honest, doesn't look very promissing. For sure, there is nothing wrong about doing some research and asking for help before even starting the design - folks (me included) are happy to put the effort in helping to solve your problems as much as they can. But in this case I'm starting to feel you might be pulling the nose a little bit. This pretty much summarizes all your topics, eventhough there is a lot of thinking, planing and desctibing all around. You sound like you have work in progress on some high level design but is that really the case? I have to admit I doubt that. So I have a thought that you should either prove my doubts wrong by sharing a pic (c'mon, you don't have to be finished before taking a picture - people love WIP pictures, sometimes almost more than the finished model) or stop making these 'I plan to build this and that whith all these features' threads. I hope you go for the first option in which case I'll gladly beg off for my accusation ;)
  8. Very cool :D I probably wouldn't get such idea even if the same accident happened to me. It's quite ingenious in fact :D Also it's surprising how regular the movement is and that the whole contraption didn't shift or drive away, rather than staying in the circle. Really interesting to observe :D
  9. This has always been my favorite cockpit design for TIE. Cool model and even better pics. Well done!
  10. My words.
  11. Thank's for the pics. I always feel like it's me who's getting these packages :D I hope there will be as few errors as possible in your orders and the remaining will resolve fast. Good luck!
  12. Not really sure whether this is the right time to ask others. It's almost like asking "Hey, do you guys think it's a diamond necklace is worth buying?" It's really just up to you. You better ask yourself whether you are comfortable with that extra cost. The part's you listed are obviously the most rare elements in the set, often missing in incomplete set offers. Answer to your question involves knowing how desperately you want to have your MF complete as well as how well you're doing with the money. If you can afford to think of this as of an investment, go ahead and get those parts. If needed, you will probably be able to re-sell them for at least the same price. Not sure about getting the box though. Still it also has some value but again - your own desires are what trully matters here.
  13. May I know why wouldn't you be interested in The Invisible Hand as well? Is there something awkward about the design or you just aren't big fan of that ship? I'm just curious - as a creator I might overlook some shortages :) Yet I always thought people might like these two together as much as I do.
  14. Hello Michael. As you say, it was rather unlikely that this would have ever made it into a real set even if it reached 10K eventually (still the support was a bit disappointing - insufficient promotion to blame perhaps). Right now, I'm considering several approaches - either to try BL MOC Shop or PleyWorld (both kind of like unofficial Ideas campaigns) or to create pro building instructions and distribute them for some little charge. Unfortunately, both plans require some modification to the design because current models contain some elements that aren't availabe in such colors. Right now im working on Venator to have that one done first. As I build it and test the design for rigidity and buildability (both can be quite insecure once you design in virtual cad), I'll proceed. Thank's for your interest and stay tuned, I'll post in this topic as soon as there is some news ;)
  15. Honestly, I'm not getting your strategy with these arena project. This is... third or fourth one? I know there are differences but between the last two versions (I hope I didn't miss couple other versions in between) I can't see very much. It's not really a problem to support this over and over, I'll gldly keep doing that. But what's the point?
  16. Last picture provides required view. As you can see, absorbers arent parallel to the vertical axis - bottom pin is shifted by one hole sideway. That creates just a little bit of compression and causes both quite soft suspension and very wide range of movement.
  17. Very nice! I'm always impressed how well does these buggy motors do compared to new PF motors,
  18. Wow, that performance while climbing that slope! I wonder how can such wheels get a good grip. Anyway, great concept. I'm looking forward to see some robotic attachments :)
  19. Georgeous MOC. Not only superb executed but exceptionaly imaginative. Among all SW dioramas made so far I'd rate this very high :) EDIT: Your opponent's entry is also masterpiece - great final round. Yet I have clear candidate for winner :D Fingers crossed.
  20. Fantastic work with lights! The base though seems tricky to build, especially maintaining even gaps between plates.
  21. I usually love your models but this I have rather mixed feelings about this. Having zero experience with new PF elements and with RC cars in general, my oppinion doesn't count very much - yet I think this is more of a show off and waste than some technic masterpiece. Maybe pushing the lego limits and destroying gears and axles have some sense that I'm missing... I don't know. it doesn't even look like it performs that well, probably loosing a lot of it's overkill power just to carry the weight, fight against the friction and deal woth flex. I hope you find some better use for that motors soon ;)
  22. Amazing work. Even if this was just a MOC built without limiting constraints, I'd say well done. The fact it's C model to the crane makes the result absolutely fantastic!
  23. Quite ambitious regarding the scale. I'm not very skilled in building technic vehicles so I can hardly make any suggestions - all I can do is to wish you good luck. I hope you succeed!
  24. ^ Sariel, I just tried your suggestion, it works well for very thin thread which requires almost zero clearance, though with for example genuine lego string it's quite hard to force the plate onto the pin and it sits somewhat falsely.
  25. Great job. Just recently I reproached some imperial base MOC for lack of star-wars-like detail. This is wonderful example of the very opposite. I love all the details which makes your model really really genuine.
