  1. Wow. Eventhought I was acknowledged with your work regarding brick built wheels, I didn't expect you would use them for your crane. These look great for brick built wheels, however I have a mixed feeling about the appearence on the model. Hopefully it won't damage the overal look. I'm also very curious about it's driving performance - don't you expect the crane to 'rumble' to much?

  3. Since I reacted rather negaively in your topics, I haveremda that a bit and point out that regardless your presentation, your creations are really, really good! Also the pictures look great. You should consider using flickr or bricksafe instead of Rajce - Czech users might be familiar with that website but it's not good for worldwide audience. I also find flickr much more comfortable to use for such purpose. Anyway, your behavior was unfortunate but your cool models repay for it very well :) I'm glad I could see them.

  5. Your dozer is nice but your manners arent. There is logic in that 10 post rule, restricing spammers or irresponsible new members from wasting forum's server storage with meaningless images. Also it's way better (and recommended) to outsource your images and deeplink them from other webhosting sites - there is plenty of scope to do so, you just need to explore the options rather that throwing dirt on the system.
  6. Kiwi is right. Except of some very rare occasions, it's no joy to read about someones plans for future builds. Such topic rather occupates the forum page and pushes other good threads away. Even if you were to lazy comming up with meaningful posts, you could still comment on some moc just like "good, i like it" which at least doesn't harm...
  7. Does this LDD planning have any sense? Since you have the parts, isn't it better to just build these drafts in real so you can test the rigidity on the go?
  8. ^ Yea, as I said that folding is probably not a movie accurate feature - I have never seen the wings folded in any SW movie (not watching rebels though). By the way the use of spray painted sandpaper for these cars is great. It really looks like asphalt. It's the use with lego what bugs me haha. But maybe I'm just to tender when it comes to dealing with this plastic :)
  9. Hmm, that souds like an overkill rather than good reason to use sandpaper. Especially since these wings are supposed to be folded while docking. If you don't like that feature (true that it's not movie accurate), wouldn't it be easier to somehow lock these hinges not to go any further in? Or to replace them with these 'click' hinges that would hold the shape? Placing any lego on sandpaper, regardless the protection you (mercifully :D ) used, is something I wouldn't recommend or share.

  13. I wish I understood that diagram, sadly I don't at all. Though the fact the speed increases means the input value to the motor is adding up. And since you mention 'loop' in the title, I guess we are talking some feedback controll sysze. Feedback controll is a part of my branch and when this happens, first thing I check is whether my feedback is positive or negative, should always be negative. With negative feedback loop the system tries to keep your desired input value.
  14. Cool rendition of this transport. I don't mind the bigger size, actually I like it better ^Haha, true true. People seem missing the fact that with several bricks that can fit into BP that dropship is built quite greatly :D
  15. I don't like the stickers to be honest. I'd much rather see built curve, even if it was stepped and several visible studs (I like some studs remaining anyway - kind of tribute to lego :D ) By the way, what are these black slots on the real crane, perhaps some screwholes or? Thought of implementing them?
  16. Theo's walkers are fascinating indeed but the mechanism is quite different from what Smitty want's to make and not even deep study would help him to solve his problem. And eventhough your note was probably meant slightly hyperbolic, I disagree - you can very well build a walker without having an idea about Theo's work ;) Yet it's certainly worth checking out just because it's cool contraption.
  17. I have no experience with doing such thing but just in general I'd say it's pretty inefficient approach - trying to modify something which is substantially made not to be modified... not sure if that is worth any effort.
  18. I agree with Milan and will only repeat myself - Narow, rather tall beam. This looks to bulky, both the outtriger and the 'feet' mechanism housing.
  19. There have been several mocs of this transporter so I can't say with confidence that this is the best one I have seen but it's certainly up there! Very nice, I like the white stripes - nice finishing detail.
  20. This is what I love! Liebherr cranes with system bricks finish. Can't wait to see more.
  21. ^ Width is not what you need. The height is what matters. Classic beam is the excellent example of this - the vertical part is what prevents beam from bending and yet it can be fairly thin. Those flat ends prevents twist and side to side bending but don't add to much to horizontal strength. If you use about 3 or 4 long liftarms stacked on top of each other (holes facing up), you can easily attach 1x4 gear racks on one side (bottom) and guides for axle that provides up/down function on the other. That way you can bypass pneumatics and use small LA.
  22. I honestly don't believe these outtrigers will be very functional. I mean with the crane this big, you need some real support, not only good looking fancy contraption. This will be way to bendy to effectively support that weight. Shorter but sturdier outtrigers would do much better in my oppinion. If you decide to try this concept anyway, I suggest you to roatate the blue and yellow part 90° (along the axix of extension, so you have the axle holes facikng up and down) in order to reduce the up-down play in the mechanism.

  24. That friction is strong enough by far for such application. There is not much clearance between axle and pulley hole - the string gets pretty tied squeeze in there. No need for additional knobs :)
